They still have time to get out of his 5th yr option,  if I'm not mistaken

It's really just procedural. They still have time to pull it. Whether they actually do or not is another question.

Barring a catastrophic injury we can decline the option.

Ok that's reassuring at least. Thanks.

I think it’s pretty unreasonable.

What exactly does Herbig do well?

Probably makes him our best DE for 2020 and definitely our best for 2021.

Sweat is very good against the run as well.

That’s not the part I’m worried about.

How does that work?

It was sometime this spring they had to choose to pick it up, which they definitely did.  They can then back out of it unless he has...what...an injury extending into 2021?

Something like that. I can’t say for sure.

I honestly think what Wentz needs isn't elite talent but elite coaching and coordinating.  He did not have that on Sunday.  Arguably the bigger problem since the Super Bowl has been the stale offense.  Sure Wentz has struggled but the Redskins were jumping routes like they knew the play call.  They read screens like the Pats did when they had Reid's offensive signals in the Super Bowl. Wentz needs decent talent sure.  Every team needs talent to win.  The bigger issue right now is that Doug was extremely predictable as the game progressed and did nothing to change the game plan despite the lack of success.

But then why did Foles have success? Sure the sample size is smaller and that absolutely plays in to that but still... And I'm fully on the Wentz is better than Foles team but it's just becoming harder and harder to justify what we are seeing. Wentz is elite and then Wentz is very poor.

For those complaining about how Schwartz used Slay.

Didn't look like it but I'll take his word for it because I don't want to watch that mess again

When i went back and watched it again I would put in order of best to worse lineman like this:

Kelce

seumalo

driscoll

peters

herbig

Kelce and seumalo didn’t have great games but i do think some of that falls on kelce trying to make up and help herbig. I thought seumalo had an ok game.

Kelce looks better when he has good guards next to him

Yup.  Carson played poorly and it wasn’t all on the OL.  Need some rollouts and motion.  He seems best on the move.

If a team has picked up a particular player’s 5th year option, and the player is subsequently injured but still recovering from the injury, then the team cannot cut the player without also paying his full salary.

They can cut a healthy Barnett this offseason.

I want downfield throws, but when the OL is getting whooped you have to adjust some.

And maybe design a play to quickly get the ball in your #1 draft pick's hands.

This is the main reason I feel they we're saving the "new stuff" for the Rams thinking the WFT would be pushovers.

It's baffling.

Maybe it wasn't just the OC who can't figure out how to use people.

Seems to be the big disconnect between Howie and coaching staff.

Foles had success when the offense was designed to fit what Foles does well.  On Sunday, Pederson did not adapt the offense at all. He didn't give Wentz an easy throw on a roll out to help him get back on target.  It was poor coaching.

Dang it’s crazy how quick local media people and a fanbase turn on a guy. Granted it was the first game of the season but damn

Allen Robinson didn't get a contract extension yet, now he deleted all the Bears stuff from his social media. Rumors swirling he is going somewhere? The Pats?

Should the Eagles be interested?

People will continue to get "upset" with me but I'm not changing .

This Sunday I think the Eagles BEST Option is to line up Mailata Seumalo Kelce Peters Johnson . In that order.

I don't understand why they keep moving Mailata around.

Woulsn't you want someone who has never played to be comfortable on one side before you move him around.

And yeah i get the swing tackle thing.

Overreaction - it is typical for the first week of play.

At what point in the calendar though?

Are you new here?

Positive note:

Doug Pederson hasn’t lost a home opener and is undefeated against McVay.
