Eagles have 51 players on their roster and have cut two 2020 draft picks.  Let that settle in.

You realize that 51 is a mid-week status, as they decide whom to activate.

Or would you rather ignore the obvious to facilitate your need to criticize?

I merely stated two facts.

If you want to read into things, you are ignoring that the 51 includes Alshon, who isn't even a viable player at this point.  So drop the number to 50.

We have 5 guys practicing and about to come back off IR and we’re whining about 2 open roster spots. Seriously?

Well....Sanders, Johnson, and Driscoll are not available this week...So drop the number to 47.

Your turn.

There is a difference between guys who aren't available "this week" and players everyone knew wouldn't be available all year.  You can see that, right?

Gee.  Who could have guessed that was a bad draft.

We cut a 6th and 7th round pick.  Clearly the definition of failure.

Yes.  And you see that there is a ton of roster turnover as a result of injuries.

I will stipulate that Jeffrey is and has been a mistake.  But please don't use the mid-week roster count as an argument for failure.

Yep.  And a gadget QB with the 2nd pick.  And an undersized project LB with the 3rd pick.  And we picked the wrong WR with the 1st pick.  But we sure nailed those big 4th and 5th rounders.

OK.  Now those are different arguments.  I, too, question the 2nd and 3rd round picks.  But I am willing to wait a couple seasons to see if their player evaluation was correct.

I can name that tune in 6 notes.

Who plays LT if he does?

Howie's roster management at it's finest.  Gold standard, new normal.

He knows guys are coming back and the PS is wide open. It would make the eagles season to bring a PSer to the "active” roster and see no snaps for a week?  Give me a break

16 players on PS.  Any cut will impact one of those.  Lots to chose from that don’t offer much promise.

i kind of think Goedert and reagor play sunday. So that would be your 52 and 53 if activated from IR

So why are we sweating howie about the last two active spots?

No idea.  I am not. Frankly, my third slot would be Alshon "Can’t Practice” Jeffery with a calf injury going to IR.  Waste of a roster position as trade seems unlikely before the deadline.  If he is not gone now, he isn’t going between now and Tuesday.

Have to do something at DT too, I’d think. Not sure if Jackson plays and only Williams can be activated to play with Cox and Hargrave.

Curry and Graham can play inside, so they may decide to call up Williams this week and then go with three DTs the rest of the year.

He’s a cut in my book. No way he has trade value. Rip off the bandaid as far as I’m concerned.

Jackson practiced.  Williams from PS.

In certain situations they can. And when they utilized that in the past they had slightly more depth at DE with Long and Bennett. I think it would be pretty risky going just 3 at DT

If Jackson practices all week then I think he’s going to play as well. Plus I think the Eagles view curry and Graham being able to play some snaps on the inside and put Barnett and sweat as the two defensive ends helps with them having to make a decision at defensive tackle

Limited though. If he can put in a full tomorrow I would be more confident in his availability. He wouldn’t be the first or last to be a limited participant all week just to be ruled out on Friday.

I actually think Avery is a legit option who just hasn't gotten opportunities. So the choice comes down to McGill or someone like him getting 15 or so snaps or Avery coming in on passing downs with Curry or Graham moving inside. Personally I don't think McGill is worth wasting a roster spot on right now.
