Doug's alluding to benching though. His next line was comparing it to when Agholor got benched and had a chance to step back and have a different viewpoint of the game

Oh, that's not what I meant at all.  I meant that both strategy (long term, using players as starters vs special teams, etc) plays as much as a part as specific plays.  Nothing to do with "tanking" or anything of that sort.

I think the Eagles might realize that Alshon is nowhere near the player he was.  They have every reason to play him, really.  Playing these games makes me think that he's lost more than a step and they know it

Prefacing my statement with benching Mailata is stupid and a bad decision.

Now, trying to think from Dougs perspective, I wonder if they want to keep Mailata on the bench in the event Lane can't finish the game (likely) or Peters can't finish the game (also likely). Starting a less than 100% Lane and Mailata would be lots of roster shuffling if Lane has to leave the game. Maybe he's trying to limit that?

Could be Doug is f***ing with Dallas just like Dallas is with Philly about who will be playing on their line with Looney and Martin set to return.  

I get really irritated when Doug says 'football team' or 'football game'.

So I said this a couple days ago. It’s the Eagles way.

Lane will play IMO. So, the Eagles have to make a tough decision. And in Eagle fashion they will show no balls and demote Mailata instead of putting Peters somewhere else. Smh.

If it's a fake injury then couldn't he speak out that his team is stopping him from playing?

That was me. That’s my bad. It was the ravens 4 days previously and late in the ravens game like manu pointed out. He caught it, ran and fumbled the ball out of bounds. He actually had two fumbles in that game (one as a receiver). So the game 4 days earlier and late in the game he nearly fumbled it away for the eagles as a returner. We were lucky hill and the ravens didn’t recover it.

Partially because I don’t think they want the questions as to why they paid Peters an extra $3M only to put him back at RG — Johnson starts at RT, Peters starts at LT — both are huge question marks to finish the game — and Mailata gets inserted into whichever starter taps out first.

Keep in mind the money they paid to Peters could have (should have) been used to shore up OL with Cordy Glenn, or RB with Fournette (granted, might have signed with TB anyway)
