Slept on it, still feel dirty. My hope for Wentz righting the ship is dwindling with each passing week. Is it possible to get David Carr'ed in your 5th season? Because it sure feels like that's what's happening.

Yup.  Bye week really couldn't come at a better time.  Need to get some things straightened out, need to get some players healthy.

1 - Reagor needs to get rid of the splint on his thumb.  The time away should make that possible. Agreed

2 - Johnson needs to come back healthy enough to finish a game.  I am concerned his ankle condition is one that time away doesn't necessarily help.  I am glad he didn't play last night. The rest can't hurt his condition.

3 - Mailata needs to move back to LT and make it his. Agreed

4 - Peters needs to move inside to RG and get Pryor on the bench where he belongs. Agreed - I see interior o-line as one of the biggest needs in the offseason.

5 - Carson and Doug both need to look deep into the mirror and find their flaws.  Aggression is good, but only when you control it.  When it controls you, its a very bad thing.   I agree about Carson.  I think Doug's aggression is fine but his play calling is up and down.

  • Carson - 2nd play of the game, good job getting away from the pressure... get outside the pocket and throw it away.  Don't be stupid in the first quarter. - one of his worst plays as a QB
  • Carson - Deep ball to Reagor that was intercepted after he scrambled.... those are balls that you put in a position where only your guy has a chance and no one else. - Terrible decision and worse throw
  • Carson - Deep ball was going to be tough last night with the wind.  Hanging the ball up there is just begging for a turnover, because you have no idea where the ball will end up. - I am ok with taking deep shots but he has to make better throws.
  • Carson - you need someone in your ear telling you to take the free money... don't play for the home run all the time.   "You'll never go broke when you always take a profit." Agreed
  • Doug - 4th downs are great when you convert them.  But, they also give life to the opposition and a short field when you go for it at the 45 yard line.  Sometimes the correct answer is: PUNT.  Play the field position game a little and let the defense handle the terrible QB you are facing... which they really did quite well.  They allowed the opening drive for a FG, and then shut them down pretty much the rest of the way.  Short fields gave them the other 6 points. - I was fine with both decisions that failed.  They should have both been run plays. There is no counter run game and no real misdirection runs.  I mean the failure to use WR's in the running game in light of the lack of depth at the position and success other teams have had against them is inexcusable.
  • Doug - 4th downs... you don't have to prove you are aggressive.  Sometimes letting the defense be aggressive when the opponent is buried deep is aggressive.  I am not sure why they are not kicking extra points.
  • Doug - enough of Hurts after a big play.  It takes too long and leads to bad penalties. - An inexcusable mistake again.

6 - We need a better stable of RBs.  Yes, Scott and Clement looked decent last night, against one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL.  Low bar.  They aren't good enough.  And not having a big back hurts in the short yardage game.  Bo Scarborough needs to be looked at over this break.  He's not an all-pro, but he's a battering ram.  As long as he doesn't try to swing everything wide like Josh Adams did, he'll 'be fine' in a limited role.  - They need more depth but I am not sure Scarborough really would help the problem.  It seems to me that there is a lack of creativity in the running game.  The problem is as much with scheme as the depth at RB.

7 - The back 7 is weak, very weak, without Slay.  Even with Slay they aren't very good.  We need to get some guys back healthy there too, but this needs to be a major point of emphasis in the offseason.  -I agree they need more depth at Safety but LB is the bigger problem.  I mean last night the only throws that were made consistently by the Cowboys were the short throws to Gallup.  Those throws weren't on Maddox.  He's playing 9 yards off the ball.  Schwartz needs to take away those easy throws when he's bringing pressure.  They have to play press coverage at times.

8 - Singleton and Edwards should be on the field the most.  Riley and Gerry should be the backups.  Edwards might only be a '2 down' LB, but those two downs are pretty good.   - Edwards looked OK.  Singleton looked OK. I would rather see more snaps from the rookies at this point.  It shouldn't take 2 years to develop the players.  Put them in and see what they can do otherwise the position has to be addressed again in the offseason.

9 - Hightower should be doing nothing but tracking deep balls off the Juggs machine for the next two weeks.  That first pass to him was brutally played by him, almost like he just stopped running.  If he stays in stride, its likely a completion. - Agreed

10 - Creativity in the offense.  We now have a YOUNG, athletic WR with the ability to make people miss.  Use Reagor on the end around that they used at the start of the Giants game.  That would likely work better with him than Desean.  - 175% agreed

11 - Where was the TE screen?  Goedert was a forgotten man.  Maybe because they didn't trust Mailata at RT against Lawrence... but he needed to be more involved in the passing game than he was.   But, while he's chipping and helping on Lawrence the whole game... its a perfect spot for the TE screen.  Start with the chip, then fall off the block and make yourself a target. - The offensive playcalling was bad to mediocre last night. TE screen may not have been the best call but when Wentz is struggling they should have had him target the TE.

12 - Where is Quez Watkins?   How bad has he looked in practice that he can't get a few snaps over JJAW?   Or that he can't get a few chances over Hightower in a game?  - Quez who?

The sack Mailata gave up on the first pass.

Did he think there was a different pass peotection called or did Pryou screw him?

He took a step to his right at the snap which isn't usual.

Something happened, but it's hard to know what. It's hard to diagnose it because with him switching sides and playing next to someone new, there's a lot of moving parts. But it was nice to see him settle down after that.

That comment makes me understand you dont read full posts. I said he needs a ton of work and need to hope he gets teh coaching. But you read the few words you only want to read and post on that, lol.

Yes you did so I apologize about that part but I still disagree with you.  He might have made a few bad plays but he is not a lazy dude.  He also is known to run crisp routes.  He made some mistakes last night but I expect him to be a quick learner.  Working hard will never be an issue for him.

Don't say that, don't touch there..

What's more to say than hasn't been said?  To win is good, but this team is just a mess.  It lacks a leader, or at least a senior assistant who can guide and mentor and action the strategy, while taking pressure away from the HC. Doug can't do it all. Speaking of which,  Carson's infatuation with holding on to the ball to make something happen is killing the O.  Play smart and win on another play. This is a team game.

The D was fine, had some meh moments but the DL largely played smart and adjusted to the trick plays.

Things should improve as the roster gets healthier, but even so...  Going to be a long season

What time is the trade deadline? 4?

Boston Scott ran well too. Even Corey Clement almost looked like a functional NFL RB.

against that d that isn't special

I mean yeah. I'm just grasping at straws trying to find positives for the offense.

Am I just an a-hole? Well no I've got arms and legs and everything

I know the o line still isn't good. But I agree, Wentz is just throwing stuff up there and not processing quick enough. I'm really getting bummed

tomorrow at 4 I thought...

Yup.

I posted this last night as it occurred during the game but I'm sure it was overlooked at the time. Seems like really low compensation for him. He's in the last year of his contract so I'm guessing he wants a big payday though.

Well my mistake was not being detailed. Hes not Lazy, he runs lazy routes. He was not actually known for running crisp routes. That was a major issue with him coming into the NFL. Your thinking of Jefferson. Him and Lamb were the best route runners in the draft. Reagor had the speed, the agility and would go up and fight for the ball. His knocks were his hands and route running which is what we are seeing so far in his very limited time so far. Again we have to hope he gets the coaching he needs to correct these issues.

I’ve all but given up on this team this season. But I will say this: what have we found in Fulgham?

I’d expect Carson and our oline to be back on track next year, but now with seasoned weapons.

I dont go by a Joe no one knows who he is youtube videos. For everyone of those you can find one contradicting it.  I go by the NFL analysts and past players who do it for a living every day on NFL network, ESPN, pro football weekly etc. Everyone can have a view based off a game or two but they usually have more time and resources to break down more. There knocks going in the draft on him were his hands and route running by them and by the looks of it they were right.  BUT he has limited time so far and can learn. Key is do we have the right coaches to help him? A question we cant answer for a few years. Just like the it was said Jefferson was one of the best route runners coming out of the draft in years which again seams they were right. The kid looks nice. A shame we took the wrong one. But I was on the Lamb or Jefferson bus so I have a bias, esp since they are having success right now.

woke up this morning feeling like the team got the big L , like i felt after the tie to cincy.

I'll tell you what.  In years past it would feel like anytime Zeke got the ball he could break the Eagles back.  It always seemed like he would get rolling.  Outside of 2 runs when the Cowboys were up last night there wasn't a snap he got where I was nervous he might do something.

That contract has got to hurt them.  It's shocking how fast he fell off the cliff.  I know RB shelf life is short but he went downhill so fast.  Wonder if they can get out of that contract in a trade or if anyone would be dumb enough to trade for him.

I dont get it?

I explained it last week  Get draft picks to see if you can lose on a trade but get out from under some of the bad contracts. Sign Dak and get a top 5 pick.

What don't you get?  Jerry Jones is the worst owner in all of sports.  He makes the wrong decision every time.
