yup. Dougs been like the anti-Reid with the way he handles timeouts.

I guess to Doug’s credit, I haven’t yet seen him call a timeout to contemplate challenging a play. Decide to challenge the play. Lose the challenge, and a 2nd timeout in the process.

Tampa to name one

Pack

Saints

Cards underrated team

I get it any given Sunday, but scared shirtless,? may have been over the top

I think the Packers have a better defense but they have some real issues on offense with Jones out and no WRs. I think the Cardinals are probably the best team in the NFC west. They have some problems on defense.  The Rams seem to have a great defense but Goff has limitations.  I think NO has defensive problems and is lacking weapons at WR.  Tampa is the best team in the NFC South.  I don't think they have played very much in the way of competition.  I wouldn't be surprised if they end up as the number 2 seed in the playoffs.  I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up as a wild card.  They lost to a good defense in Chicago and what looks to be a pretty mediocre NO team.  I could see Tampa losing 5 out of the next 9 if they get unlucky or have a key injury it could be worse.

Right now, the way the Eagles have played to this point in the season, they should not be favored to beat any of these teams.  The Eagles could start figuring it out and become healthy.  I mean if Brandon Brooks returns and Lane Johnson is healthy I think they look a lot better.  Carson has to turn around a disappointing season.  There's possibilities but there are a lot ifs that could go either way.  The way the Eagles are playing now I don't think they have a realistic shot at beating any of these teams.  I will say, however, none of these teams are as good as Pittsburgh or Baltimore.  The Eagles have had 2 close losses to very good teams.  One bad loss to a bad team.  One bad loss to a good team. One tie with a team that may be slightly better than their record.  The wins have been unimpressive and against bad teams.  The Eagles have to play a good complete game before I believe they will be competitive in the playoffs.

I also give him credit for not challenging that awful 4th down spot that gave Dallas a free first down on the sneak by DiNucci.  That wasn't even close, but with no reference, they had no chance to change the call... and the 3rd down spot was just as bad on the Ewok run, but that's not challengeable, because its not for a first down.

Waiting on the all-22 but my impression is that Mailata was much better this week than last and he was going against Dallas's best player. That's not to say he was good, but he was better. It's worth remembering that Lawrence has given Lane fits in the past.

My impression was the first and second pass plays.  The first, he just misstepped and Lawrence got by him for the sack.  Second, he punched Lawrence and then stayed in front of him screening him from Carson. Thought JP held his own with Gregory and Smith.  Herbig needs to get much better at dealing with stunts. Pryor trying to block at second level.

They want to be like Saints with Hill

But the Saints get more creative and aren't so predictable.

I think Pryor just needs to be off the field if there's any way that's possible.  He's marginally serviceable at best.

This OL will need some more youth added to it.   Shame of losing Driscoll is that he likely would be much better at RG than Pryor, and he'd be getting invaluable experience and the Eagles would have a better idea of whether or not he's a viable piece for the future as a starter, or just an invaluable depth piece to plug in wherever there's a hole.   Herbig looks like a decent depth OG, but he's not looking like a future starter.

Point is anyone getting on Wentz for that play is a hater at that point

I don't know who is getting on solely Wentz for that play besides trolls. It was a breakdown on multiple levels. My whole point was its just annoying seeing the play there but for whatever reason the team can't complete these plays when they are there.

I cant even remember the last challenge besides that one against NYG he didn't throw in time

I forgot about the horrid spot after the sneak. I’m glad Doug didn’t challenge it also. Those plays are too often difficult to see something indisputable from the original call.

I think he won a challenge vs Pitt or Baltimore. I can’t remember which though.

The Claypool out of bounds, I remember now.

I think ... people tend to look for "the reason" for something but when something is complicated there isn't any one reason - it is a combination of things, and in this case, many things - and that's what makes it frustrating - we want "the answer" but none is forthcoming.

The thing is, we know Edwards is not a good coverage LB where Gerry was a college S who supposedly could cover.  I think we accept that Edwards is a 2-down LB and won't/shouldn't be out there on 3rd down passing downs.  But, he is loads better at diagnosing a play and making the tackle.  He had a really good tackle on the Ewok where it almost looked like a wrestling takedown.  And honestly, you literally can NOT do worse than allowing every target thrown your way to be completed and have (near) perfect passing rating against you, which is what Gerry had.  Bottom line:  Edwards >>>>> Gerry.

So Kist can suck it for trying to get clicks by pointing out something we all pretty much knew anyway.

Actually, Edwards was decent in coverage in college. (10 interceptions and 15 PBUs, not great but not inept).  He is not fast so instincts can’t always make up for that lack of speed.  Funny thing about Gerry is he was good in coverage at Nebraska and a thumper as a hitter. But he would misplay angles at times.  If TJ can get to the opposing player, the tackle will be made.  Nate, sometimes.  Nate should be a third down LB, an Ike Reese, if you will.  TJ should be starting

Now Nate is out with an Achilles injury.  Anyone who has ever strained an Achilles knows if hampers your running and jumping significantly.  Easier to deal with a low ankle sprain. Only solution for a bum Achilles is rest.  Putting Gerry on IR was the right thing to do.  Three weeks may not be enough.

This play was annoying. It's 4 and 3 and Wentz is staring down Fulgham I believe when we have the bunch set with Ward and Reagor both immediately open for the first down.

Protection issues aside, Wentz had plenty of time to cut it loose there. That play is on Carson. Any vet in the league is pulling the trigger on the drag over the middle.

Keeping Wentz on the field with Hurts packages is the problem unless they're BOTH in the backfield. Then there's a pass-pass-run option, so defenses have to play honest.

But using Wentz as a WR is a waste, as it takes away a passing option AND signals a run. So Hurts "looks" bad, getting stuffed as a runner.

They still cover Wentz so, it makes no difference to Hurts running and if Hurts is ever going to be the quarterback for this team he better get used to having very few passing options

He never even looked there for some reason. He glances at Scott then just zones in on Fulgham. Not sure why the primary read isn't Ward/Reagor in the bunch set. This is what opposing offenses do to Eagles and it works all the time.

Tampa's as good as any team in the NFL. Complete team, offense and defense. They look like the new New England. Weapons galore on offense, run game, OL doing well, Brady looks better than he has in a couple years, defense is good on all 3 levels.

No they aren't.

San Fran is done for.

You mean look those same players in the eyes who are missing tackles, blowing assignments, dropping passes, etc?

Every single person in that locker room knows that Wentz is their only shot to go anywhere this year

Theres no reason to see what they have in Hurts right now, they created that problem and we're in the playoff hunt, you can just bench your QB to appease fans

You don't know that. How do you know? Maybe Hurts will be better. You can't write off that possibility.
