One thing I really liked from this week is the adjustment to punt return formation. Seems like they had less guys on the LOS rushing(only 4) and more players running back to block. It created a lot more room for Ward.

Yes, I agree on the first sack. That was all on him. Did Tra really think Pryor was supposed to slide over? If so, that's nonsense. Pryor had a DT on his outside shoulder. He blocked the right guy. Lawrence just suckered Mailata. A teachable moment.

Tra Thomas talked last week about Mailata "setting flat," which he defined as engaging the DE on the LOS instead of pass setting. He was beaten when he did it in the Giants game and it was what killed him last night on the sack. Thomas seemed to think that Mailata is being told to do this at times, as it makes no sense for him to randomly do it on his own.

I have no idea what is going on, but it is strange to watch.

I think the idea is to limit the room for error. It'll at least be survivable, where as he is if he tries to engage in a normal pass protection, he would get beat like a drum because he doesn't have the technique developed yet.

But he doesn't get beat that often when he sets normally. That's what's odd about it.

I gotta disagree. Mailatas first step was to the right.  He looked like he expected Pryor to move that way too.

Now what we don't know is whether Mailata made a protection mistake or of it was Pryor.

There was some idiot on there talking about drinking Henney, and then said we already had a DK Metcalf when we had Dorial Green-Beckham.  No doubt in my mind it was shocker.

Funny enough, before getting to the end of your post my mind immediately went:

"Must be Shocker".

You don't know that. How do you know? Maybe Hurts will be better. You can't write off that possibility.

I say the same thing about myself.  Until someone puts me in at starting wideout, no one knows that Im an All Pro

Wentz sucks elephant in the room

Those 2 interceptions by Diggs were both more impressive than any catch from an Eagles WR in the last 3 years.  The first one for having the sense to somehow get his shin down before his knee and the 2nd for his ability to track that deep ball beautifully in 30 mph wind with ease.  I know defense wasn't the problem last night, but it's frustrating to see a playmaker (especially a rookie) like that when we had 3-4 chances for much easier interceptions that continue to just bounce off hands.  I don't care if he has a bad grade from PFF.  All rookie CB's do.

With that being said, I am excited about our young WR's.  Once Reagor develops, I think he will be something special.

Regarding Carson Wentz.  If he was on another team.  Would you be scared he was going to beat you or would you be excited that your defense was going to be able to get pressure on him and cause turnovers?

This year, definitely the latter.

Defenses must be happy to face this Oline

Will Brooks be able to return this season? I can't remember

I'd be surprised if he does.

The Achilles tear happened in June so I highly doubt it.

Glad the Carson haters are happy about his struggles.  We’re still going to draft Trevor Lawrence.   Get over it, Trolls.

Struggles? Did you see the game? I’ll take a Tyrod Taylor with the lung injection over what I saw last night.

Let me know when you get picked in the 2nd round and are a Heisman runner up.

My Ouija Board sees the Eagles second half of the season pretty clearly — wins over NYG and CLE to get to 5-4-1, followed by 4 straight losses to SEA, GB, NO, and ARI to fall to 5-8-1, finish off with wins over DAL and WAS to finish at 7-8-1 and winning the division.

Wildcard playoff loss is pretty likely, although the Bears would be a beatable opponent.
