SF is just the 2019 version of the 2017 Jaguars.

The NFL is designed to let offense win championships.  Every year, one defensive centered team breaks through the glass ceiling in the offense driven league, throws a bunch of teams off balance en route to a deep playoff run, and then falls off the map afterwards.

The writing was all over the wall that would happen to SF.

I think SF will be back again next year if they're healthy.

Shanahan schemes the running game so well. Easily the best at it in the NFL. Their defense has all the parts to be elite again next year.

There will come a time where the NFL adjusts at least a bit to Shanahan's run game, and they'll need a better QB when that happens. Garoppolo could be on another team next year. Maybe SF is in position to draft a guy like Trey Lance or Zach Wilson.

Either way, I think they have more staples and a stronger foundation for continued success than a team like the Jags from 3 years ago or a similar team.

I don’t think SF is a defensive centered team, they just drafted really well on defensive players. That offense will be carried by Shanahan’s coaching for years to come. We all know about Kittle, and Deebo & Aiyuk are both very talented players. Once they develop more & can avoid injury bug, that could be a lethal trio of playmakers. Also look at how easily SF can make no name RB look like pro bowlers. If they can get better at QB & OL, that’s a team that’ll be dominant for years to come.

Fulgham’s contract is up in Feb right? What kind of contract could we expect to see for him given that it will be a small sample size?

He’s an exclusive rights FA, so I think by that the Eagles can retain him pretty easily on a minimum contract. I could be wrong there.

But I’d say he gets/is worth something in the $2-$5 million per year range at the moment. If he continues to show out and hits in the ballpark of 1000 receiving yards, that number could be higher

If you have that many interviews it means one of your weaknesses is keeping a job. 🙂 lol

I didn't say how many interviews I've been on, just enough to know how to spin it.

And interviewing for a new job doesn't mean that you couldn't hold down the old one, just that you are looking for something new.

Kittle won't be a building block for long, he's already starting to break down.

I’m thinking he’s gonna make more money.  He’s done super.  Great question though.  Thanks for asking.   Have a good one.

In true Eagles fashion, Howie will overpay him and he'll get injured.

Interviewing is a skill that is important to sharpen every once in a while.   I know because I’m a great interview.  Mostly cause I’m a good talker and slightly full of ish.    That probably surprises you all.   Welp.  That’s all for now.  Bye.

My wife gets mad at me because I haven't gone on an interview where I wasn't offered the position on the spot since I was in college.  (Not that I've gone on many interviews lately, been in the same job since 2004... but I do side gigs now, and they don't interview me.  They just contact me and ask if I want the job.  lol  )

I don't know how true this is because SF was the 2nd rank offense in terms of pts for and 8th ranked defense.  The Jaguars were a top 10 offense in terms of pts and the number 1 defense. What is true about both teams is there offensive success was highly reliant on a rushing attack and a dominant defensive line.

With linkedin and networking, it's not the same as it was once was.  My current employer posted my job on linkedin.  I was connected with someone who worked for them, she posted it on her linkedin.  I messaged her.  She connected me with our boss.  I sent him my resume.  He had her call some people that we both know to ask about me.  I had a 15 min phone interview while I was at a panera bread in winchester va.  Was told it might take a month or so because it was the holidays.  I had the offer letter in my email 2 days later.  You get to know enough people in the field you are in, it becomes less formal.

Yup.  And I'm in a fairly narrow field for my side gigs.  There's only so many people around the country that can do it, and I have a history of doing it longer than the vast majority of those who are still doing it.  So, pretty much, every summer, I get a call.

Didn't i read somewhere that Doug was pulling them all in for a practice this week?  Maybe there was a new flavor of ice cream introduced at Nova Care?  If there was a practice, have we heard anything about injured players...?

I think it was for film work after the self-scouting the coaches did this past week.

These morons couldn't help but get in something else about Malcom Jenkins.  They probably also bash the Eagles for keeping and/or signing aged Vets.  Can't have it both ways.

In what world is this a true statement?

That Chase Claypool-Nate Gerry mismatch in the loss to the Steelers wouldn’t have happened if Jenkins had still been around.

Did we not see Nate Gerry in mismatches often last year as well?   Did we not see Malcolm Jenkins himself in a number of mismatches?   Jenkins is not the player he was, not by a long shot.  And he's not the cure all to the secondary's problems.  The secondary and back 7 had quite a number of problems last year.  In fact, I've not noticed a massive drop-off from Jenkins to Mills this year.  There likely is a little, but at the same time, there's likely a little more of a boost as well.  Mills is actually a better cover safety at this stage than Malcolm.

Yup. A tried and true formula for plenty of super bowl teams. Sure it's fun watching the greatest show on turf and the like win super bowls and I'll take a hard nosed running team with a top defense any time.

Worked for the Bears in 85,  giants in 86-90 Cowboys in the 90s people forget how good their defenses were. Broncos with TD ravens in 2000 even the bucs in 2002 seahawks with lynch and legion of doom prioritized being able to run the ball. Heck the 2017 Eagles running game was top of the league.

In a league that prioritizes qbs and passing a good running game and defense can still get it done.

Saw an interesting question

Who is the midseason MVP:

Graham or Fulgham?

Jason Kelce. He's played with Semualo/Herbig/Pryor/Driscoll beside him. He's often the only remaining starter. He's telling Mailata who the blitzer is.

He's an all-pro. If he had a down year, we might have 1 win this year.

I agree. It's Kelce. He has to help coordinate the OL and he has played at a pro bowl level again. Fulgham emerged after Week 4. Graham has been great, but he at least has a little help on the DL with Cox.

So if we draft Fulgham instead of JJAW, everyone is happy right?

That’s not how it works around here.

From ESPN:

HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders have been fined $500,000 and stripped of a sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft and coach Jon Gruden has been fined an additional $150,000 by the NFL for what one source described to ESPN as "brazen and repeated violations of [COVID-19] protocols."
