Stetson Bennett looks like Doug Flutie out there.  Not in the way he plays but his size.  Dude looks like a midget.

Franklin sucks

He’s a cheerleader. I’m hoping they bring back O’Brien. Best PSU coach in the last 20 years.

On the topic of oline, I think some perspective is in order. Look at Opeta. We tapped him to start on short notice, and his first game ever was against a team featuring Leonard Williams, Dexter Lawrence and Dalvin Tomlinson at DT, and the immediate takeaway from this board is that he must be horrible because he didn't shut them down.

The issue is HOW to address the OL.

You can go ahead and lock the Eagles in for the #19 pick.  It’s a given.

OC/OG: #19 is a little rich for interior OL.  Is it worth it for the right guy?  Absolutely.  Not sure this draft has that type of sure thing plus prospect for interior OL.  Even worse when you consider the other needs we have.

LT/RT: #19 is a bit of a no man’s land.  Anyone with a reliable projection to franchise LT is gone by now and you have to either accept a red flag or a projection to RT.  So are we going to write off Dillard and burn another first round pick on a new LT with his own red flags?  Or are we going to draft Lane’s replacement at RT to not play for 2 years?  What about Mailata?

I just don’t see how the first round is a good investment for OL in 2021.

WTF said first round G or IOL.  No one has said T.  Just because IOL might be a high priority, it would be a reach in the first based on who is available.  Frankly, I hope the target CB or S.   I would be happy with a couple of the projected players with first round grades at those positions.  Good value at IOL day two.  May be some decent value at the start of day 3 but Avery kind of blew that. But always, BPA.

I thought that as well watching him play.  I'm not a big fan of lefties at QB.

Left handed discrimination.  :nonono:

You can't look at the OL situation in a vacuum.  After Slay and McLeod, there are only replacement level or worse in the back seven.  IMO, CB is the priority  That being said, the OL situation appears to be dire because of availability this season.

Start with OT.  Lane, Dillard, and Mailata look to be a solid group to work with next season.  Lane didn't properly deal with the ankle during the offseason.  I expect it to be resolved before 2021.  His athleticism is still there.  Although Dillard doesn't appear to be a first round talent, it doesn't mean he is a turnstile at the position.  And of course, the Golden Aussie will save us all from disaster.

At IL, Kelce and Brooks are still question marks for next season.  But for now they are penciled in, along with Seumalo.  I am optimistic about Brooks playing next season.  Alternatives include Herbig, Driscoll, Pryror, Juriga, and Opeta.  I condiser Herbig to be a Wisniewski-level backup.  Driscoll, after time with Stoutland and in the weight room, may become starter-worthy.   Here is where I could easily see a 3rd or 4th round pick next draft.

With the options available and their faith in Stoutland, I just can't see an early pick at the expense of the back seven, which desperately needs more talent.

You won’t get an argument from me about the back seven and secondary is a strength of this draft.  But you draft for the future.  One of those is Driscoll.  I started the conversation talking about a single IOL alternative. There are a couple of Cs in this draft that are Kelce lights.  They are probably Cs only much like Jason, which may drive down their draft status.

I don’t think better safety play changes the dynamic or future of this team.

Sorry if posted. I haven’t been here much lately.

I'd be for a Kelce successor.

Just a reminder.  Our only picks on defense in the first three rounds since Doug arrived have been Barnett, Jones, Douglas, and Taylor.  That's five drafts.

And folks complain about Schwartz....smh.

Don’t see it happening. I wouldn’t call it exactly a clean break when he left

Brooks started 16 games after the first achilles at a probowl level, he's already doing 30+" vertical jumps. Don't bet against him.

And don’t bet on the continuity of the right side of our OL.

Yeah.  I mean I hate ND as much as the next guy.  But come on man.

F the Domers.

Well that’s what we do bro.  We root against teams we hate, almost as much as we root for teams we love.

I may hate Domers more than Cowboys

It’s worth noting that they did trade a 3 for  Darby, more than a 3 plus a big contract for Slay, sizable FA in McLeod, blew their FA load on Malik Jackson in 2019, and blew their FA load on Hargrave in 2020.

With the way Howie drafts, Schwartz may be lucky the defense has gotten proven vets via trade and FA while Doug gets the draft picks on offense.

Rutgers just tried running the Philly Special vs Ohio State. Didn't work.

I said last draft that D needed to be addressed.   I still believe Wallace is our "strong”  (I prefer down) S of the future. I think Taylor is still likely our WIL of the future but am concerned he hasn’t had many D snaps.  Bradley is a back up and Toohill was a roll of the dice.  I actually think the Eagles have some MIKE talent in Edwards and possibly Bradley and Singleton as a MIKE/SAM although there is surely room for improvement. Can you imagine if TJ had Gerry’s athleticism?

Clemson coming up big when they need to.
