Gilbert probably beats us last Sunday night.

Tomlin with the dumbest call of the year. And I say that after seeing all of Doug's brain farts.

The officiating in the Miami/Arizona game might be the worst of the year. It's bonkers.

I’m actually happy the Cardinals lost. They deserve to lose that game. Their play calling all day was idiotic. Unless Murray runs around like a chicken with his head cut off like that offense looks bad. They seem to only have consistent offense if Murray scrambles all over the place and then finds someone. Otherwise they look out of sync. and at some point Murray who is running 10-14 times game and is only like 5’9 is going to get hit and hurt. And they continue to run the same play with him on every 3rd and short or 4th and short. eventually gets figured out and can’t convert at the end the games because Kingsbury used it eight times so teams figure out how to defend it . What’s the point of trading for DeAndre Hopkins if you’re not going to use him in big spot. Xavien Howard is a good corner he is not Revis where you don’t look to him more than three times in a game.

Stealers took the Cowpies too lightly. But Gilbert did play good.

Do those young QBs have only 1 starter on Oline?

His fumbling is not because of his oline. Just hero ball. This is coming from a big Wentz fan. 55 fumbles is ridiculous.

Not entirely true. He holds the ball because the receivers aren't getting open so he want to extend the play. The Oline doesn't always block well so he gets pressured and that messes with timing and everything

It's all together but IMO it starts with the Oline

I don’t know. There’s times like the first fumble against Dallas where he tries to do too much and he’s just careless with the ball and it leads to a fumble. We’ve seen that many of times from Carson Wentz. And then there’s times like the second fumble against Dallas were Matt Pryor blocks one one in particular and since he leaves to help kelce who didn’t need the help so two free rushers come and crush wentz.

Call me a Wentz washer but I think he can still be elite. I think it's a disgrace what we've done with his career so far. First it was no weapons and now it's no Oline with some weapons

I think it’s tough to say if he can get back to being an elite quarterback like 2017. I want to say the offensive line is not very good and he didn’t have weapons. But I thought the offensive line was not the issue outside of that second fumble against Dallas. That was all Carson just not playing well. Yes there’s been some games with the offensive line hasn’t been great. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, the three games before Dallas he really started to play well once the Eagles got behind by double digits. He hasn’t had a game from start to finish where he’s just looked elite/dominant in a while. Do I think it’s impossible he gets back to being elite? No. I just don’t think he’s ever going to be like Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. I think he’s going to be in the next tier down similar to what Matt Ryan has been in his career where if you put good talent around him then he can play at a great level and you can win

We'll see

Although IMO if Howie is still GM then we'll never see

Agreed on the second part.

The thing with guys like Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson is there’s only so many generational talents that come into the NFL. Right now we have three and an aging brees and Brady who were. Lamar Jackson I guess you can say is closed but I don’t think he’s played particularly well this year. I love Carson Wentz but when I watch him even in 2018 and even at the end of last year and now I don’t see that type of HOF generational talent. That doesn’t mean I don’t think the Eagles can win with him and win big. But you have to build a good team around him to maximize his potential and talent.

Wentz during the SB year was the best player in the NFL. If he played like that his whole career he'd be a shoe in first ballot guy.

Uh why didn't they kick a FG?

Pittsburgh should have kicked the field goal

Nope.   They had a PAT blocked, and nearly had two other kicks blocked.  They couldn't block the middle of the DL, so a blocked FG for a TD was a MUCH higher probability than the Dallas O driving for a TD, and the run had a chance of icing the game without giving the ball back.

Didn't they do that in 2017?

Some are his fault, some the fault of the OL/receivers.  And frankly, some are just bad luck... fumbles happen in the NFL on sacks sometimes.

Possibly.

He was elite once.  If he reaches 30 without getting to that level (meaning 2-3 more seasons status quo), then you can put the nail in the coffin.

But a lot of it is out of his control.  I’ve been beating this drum for a long time: an "elite QB” means you have excellent pass targets, excellent OL, and top notch coaching.  Sometimes we just assume all that gets figured out in an offseason or two.  With Howie drafting, the odds of figuring out the OL and getting those WR weapons are not good.  And that’s before we consider the intrinsic issues and odds with Wentz.

Put it all together and the chances of this group putting together an elite offense ever again are very bad.  Not impossible, but bad.

Exactly. And you saw him play at a great level. That’s been my point. I don’t think he’s on the same tier as Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson (younger Brady and younger brees) where he can take decent talent around him and make you a Super Bowl contender. You have to have a good talented team around him to be good and he can show you greatness consistently. I think guys like Patrick Mahomes can get you to an AFC title game just because he is that good. Don’t get me wrong Mahomes has elite talent around him but I think if you took some of it away the Chiefs would still be a title contender. I don’t see Carson Wentz on his level. And that’s not anything to be ashamed of, I don’t think there’s that many guys in the NFL there in that tier of quarterback

🤷‍♂️ I'm actually on the side of questioning whether Mahomes is a great. That team has an insane amount of talent. Can he still play the way he is with something like what Wentz has been dealing with?

Rodgers even had to deal with struggles for years. Last year lots of people thought he was done and should retire. Then he comes back this year and is a SB contender

Wilson is a Fing anomaly lol that's all I can say for him. I don't like Hawks but he's fun to watch

Savvy.

That's just depressing. I hope we don't waste his talent.

I don’t know I think Patrick Mahomes even if you took some of those weapons away would still be a great quarterback. still top-five.  the Chiefs have not use their running game in about two weeks and he destroying teams.  Don’t get me wrong I think Patrick Mahomes has plenty of weapons. It must be nice. But I think it’s a discredit to him to say he doesn’t make some of those weapons even better than they are if they played with a lesser QB. Like kelce and hill are great players but i don’t think they are nearly as great without mahomes. There’s really not a QB in this league I’d take over mahomes right now.

They were great before Mahomes, well... at least Kelce.
