They were great before Mahomes, well... at least Kelce.

Kelce was good. He wasn’t putting up 1200 and 1300 yards before mahomes took over. Kelce’s two best seasons have come with mahomes. The two seasons with mahomes he’s averaging 100 catches, 1283 yards and 7.5 tds. His two best seasons he averaged 84 receptions, 1082 and 6 tds. Don’t get me wrong Travis Kelce was still really good with Alex Smith at quarterback. However with Patrick Mahomes he’s gone to best tight end in the league level if he continues this play. He’s on pace for 96 receptions, 1220 yards and 12 tds. Third consecutive year over 1200 yards and 95 receptions.

I don’t know I think Patrick Mahomes even if you took some of those weapons away would still be a great quarterback. still top-five.  the Chiefs have not use their running game in about two weeks and he destroying teams.  Don’t get me wrong I think Patrick Mahomes has plenty of weapons. It must be nice. But I think it’s a discredit to him to say he doesn’t make some of those weapons even better than they are if they played with a lesser QB. Like kelce and hill are great players but i don’t think they are nearly as great without mahomes.

I’m in the camp Mahomes is in the perfect circle of being good, having elite skill players and having Andy Reid as coach. I don’t think he’s in the Peyton Manning camp in that wherever he goes turns to gold.

The most balanced team in the NFC is losing 0-14

Devin White is a heck of a player.

Wait until they count the mail-in ballots in the second half.

I mean Peyton Manning had some serious offensive talent where he went. Reggie Wayne, James and Harrison are all pro bow talents as well. Also had a HOF center and Joseph addai wasn’t a slouch. Neither was Dallas Clark. demaryius Thomas, wes welker, and Emmanuel sanders were pretty good players. Definitely made them even better but let’s not pretend Peyton Manning didn’t have offensive weapons at his disposal in both Denver and Indianapolis. Now his offensive line deteriorating his defense wasn’t as good in Indianapolis.

don’t get me wrong Peyton Manning is an all timer but if we’re going to use the well Patrick Mahomes has all these weapons around him and Andy Reid, Peyton Manning had weapons around him for a long period of time when he was super successful. Add on he won one Super Bowl because that defense was unbelievable.

Yup... contextless stats right there.   They had more of a running game in those years, so Kelce had fewer targets in those years as well... plus 1 fewer game in the two years before Mahomes due to injury.  So... when you look at the whole picture, Kelce hit his prime just as Mahomes came and the increase in his stats was minimal on a per game basis.

I think I dislike Hill more because Howie and Doug wanted to replicate it

They were more of a running team there because Alex Smith was not good enough to get the ball down the field consistently and they try to play ball control more because he wasn’t as good as Patrick Mahomes. The reason why they’re more of a throwing team is Mahomes is a much better thrower of the football and better quarterback than Alex Smith. So why would you run the ball more if Patrick Mahomes is a better quarterback at throwing the ball and getting it down the field? That makes no sense play that style. So yes kelce would have less numbers due to style but he has less numbers because the quarterback wasn’t as good so they had to play that way. So they changed what they wanted to be due to mahomes ability and talent

so it still goes back to Patrick Mahomes is a better quarterback than Alex Smith. they are throwing the ball more because he’s more capable of carrying the load and winning with his arm then Alex Smith could which would make Kelce even better and more productive because of Patrick Mahomes ability and talent.

Best team in the league is getting waxed and has like 12 yards passing. Strange.

The most complete team in the NFC is missing a lot of pieces

Starts to make you understand why the Eagles weren't "sellers" at the trade deadline.  The NFC is wide open, imo.

Feels like the saints getting Thomas and sanders back was looking to make a statement to the nfc.

They're certainly making a case for being the "best team in the NFC" atm.

That’s not booing. They’re just saying boorady.

Balance isn’t the recipe for success anymore.  It should be.  I miss it.  But that’s not the path the NFL has laid out.

Damn, this Bucs team is so much a complete

It’s so easy to say that when we haven’t watched the Eagles play for a whole week.  Then they’ll take the field and remind us why they should have been sellers.

And they don't have the same quality of RB either... its not as simple as Patrick Mahomes is better than Alex Smith.   Sure, he's the hot new flavor so everyone has to bow down to him.  He's a talented guy, with a talented bunch of players around him, in a system that maximizes his talent and they haven't had a rash of injuries over the past 3 seasons.  Patrick Mahomes is great, but let's not make him the greatest ever just yet, he's got a long way to go still.   Does Mahomes make the players around him better?  Sure.   Do the players around him make him better?  Absolutely.   It's what is called a symbiotic relationship.    Wentz looks bad.  Wentz has a lot of turmoil and mix of players around him.   Is he making it worse?  Yes.  Is he a victim of his circumstances?  Yes.

I thought he said balanced? Was it the most complete team in the NFC? Ah I'm screwing up the joke

Hard to argue that they’re not after seeing the Seahawks not be able to stop anybody on defense today. Cardinals losing to miami. Tampa Bay has weeks where they play the Packers and raiders and look phenomenal and then weeks where you’re just like what are you doing like tonight and last week.

The saints haven’t had injuries like the eagles have had but they also haven’t had everyone on offense since week 1 of the season. I think sanders was a really good pick up for them this offseason. He’s a good compliment to Thomas and cook and they needed badly another WR.

The thing is, the majority of Eagles' fans mostly pay attention to the Eagles (myself included) but once you pay attention to the rest of the NFC, it's clear that a lot of teams are dealing with some of the same issues the Eagles are.  If the Eagles end up going 8-7-1 (Very possible, imo) they likely win the division and host a home playoff game.  Then "who knows" what will happen.  If a team gets "hot" at the right time in the NFC playoffs this year....well...

And I never said wentz wasn’t a victim of circumstance. I know he is. you’re gonna tell me right now you would not take Patrick Mahomes out of any quarterback in the league? I know if I was starting a franchise today I’m taking the guy who is 25 years old won an MVP in his first year starting, won a Super Bowl MVP and is putting up Mvp numbers once again. I’m sorry the only QB i think close to him right now is Wilson  and Rodgers outside of his bucs game

yes they haven’t had as good of running backs over last couple years. Some of that is due the design of the team of why spend the money on running back when you have a quarterback that is capable of carrying you and you can go with a lesser running back because he’s good enough to overcome that where is Alex Smith is not. Roster construction of the team changed due to the ability and talent of Patrick Mahomes to save money on that aspect and put it into other aspects like their defense. And also due to kareem hunt getting kicked off the team in mahomes first year starting  (Actually hunt with mahomes was on pace for 1200 yards and 10 tds which is about 100 rushing yards below his 2017 numbers (on about 9 less carries) but his receiving number pace were about 100 yards more)

Do I think he’s the greatest quarterback ever? No I never said that. However if people don’t want to believe he is a great quarterback and it’s just a weapons around him that make him great that is a bunch of baloney. Let’s not pretend Tom Brady didn’t have his best season with guys like Randy moss and Wes Welker or gronk/Hernandez or Peyton Manning didn’t have Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Dallas Clark and Edgerrin James. Like all of them are great and all of them got to showcase their greatness because they also had very good weapons around them when they were at their peaks.

LOL did anyone else catch the 28-3 comment?

Have you guys seen this?

The kid is going to be a player.
