You just made my point for me.  The face of a multi-billion dollar corporation should not be concerned with the opinion of a friend.  He should be concerned with the opinion of the leadership ahead of him and any investors....period.  Regardless of what kind of business it is.  Is the corporation moving in the right direction, growing and making a profit?  If it is not, then that's a different story.  If that friend is not being paid by the corporation to consult or assist, then all it is, is a friend with an opinion.  But concerning yourself with the opinions of someone outside of the organization is counter-productive and wrong.  Like you......you are dead wrong and silly for even thinking otherwise.

I know you'll completely misinterpret this quote....but here it goes..."a wolf should not concern themselves with the opinion's of sheep"

I made your point? Are you nuts? People get asked about published opinions all the time, especially in the sports/entertainment industry and especially in the era of social media. It's a pretty standard situation, and there is a zero percent chance Doug wasn't aware that he was going to be asked about it. He just screwed it up. I get you hate the media and want to blame them every chance you get, but in this case you are just coming off as obtuse.

I'm glad someone understands that Mailata playing better than expectations doesn't mean he is playing better than Peters.  Folks give Mailata a pass on certain bad plays.  "He'll get that right the next game."  Yet, Peters gets hammered for lesser mistakes.  Peters has fallen from a 10 to a 7.  Mailata has risen from a 0 to a 6.  7 is greater than 6.

I am truly sympathetic to the notion that Mailata needs more reps.  But at the same time, the help we are providing Mailata in the interim is hampering our offense and in all likelihood impacting Carson's confidence in the pocket.  Futher, with Lane's health in question, keeping Mailata as an option as a true swing tackle makes sense.  There are teams searching for one viable option at LT, we have two.

I don't necessarily disagree...but a few things...

1. Would the team be better served with Peters filling in at guard (since that position is also decimated) and also have Mailata start at tackle?

2. Wouldn't it benefit the team long term by giving Mailata more playing time (experience), so by the end of the season, he could likely improve to a 7 (or maybe better)?

We don't really know if Peters would be better than Herbig at RB.  We do know that Peters & Seumalo had been an effective team on the left side.

I agree that it isn't an obvious choice.  Also, I would bet a small amount of money that, because of Peters age, Mailata will get more snaps at LT before the end of the season.

It depends on what you’re trying to achieve. Building a relationship with a source goes well beyond on the record question and answer sessions. It’s about building trust, being fair, etc. I doubt Wentz has given that question a second thought because it really was no big deal.  Now if Smith were to take that approach repeatedly with Wentz it could lead to problems. McLane gets ripped to shreds in here, but it’s clear he has some really good sources in the organization despite his at times combative tone.

I believe most fans are looking for information about their team, not a gotcha barb.  But then again, I don’t like talking head TV "journalism” either, whether Hannity, Maddow or Bayless and Stephen A. Smith.  So I don’t think the majority of fans care what Doug or Carson would say about what Favre said.   Heck, I don’t care what Favre said.  He is just trying to keep relevant as he is relegated to Copperfit commercials and Rodgers, Mayfield and Mahomes get the prime commercials.

I would be more curious about whether Carson thinks his bulking up affected his mechanics earlier this season.   About what Doug is doing to address hero ball.  What is Press doing to coach up the QBs better. How did the self scouting go and what they might be doing differently.  If McLane has such great sources then he should have some great tidbits about the self scouting.  Where are they?   I would rather read a Sheil analysis piece than what Carson answered to that question.   Admire Carson and Doug for not disrespecting Nick considering his trials and tribulations since leaving Philly.

Has there been any game this year where the Eagles rolled out the same OL starters...I think it has been different every single week?

Just because the majority of fans don’t care doesn’t mean some don’t. It’s a long season, and they were handed something a little different to report on or to ask them about. It’s no big deal.

Steelers game was the same as SF

What is amazing about this stupid Favre subject is that Brett Favre said the same thing MONTHS ago, and fan base didn't care, the media didn't care, no one cared. Now that Wentz is in a slump and he says the same thing and the media is acting like its a huge deal and Doug must defend his QB and Carson must tackle the question head on.

Fan base didn't care then, most don't care now.

Did the media bring it up then and beat it, to death?

Nope

My money is on Carson's wife impacting his game.  When he was drafted he was with some other girl and played better.  🤔

Nope.  I understand fully.  You think Doug and the the PR department should have spent more time preparing a rebuttal to Brett Favre's useless opinion.

Yes, that's what the pr department gets paid to do. And Doug, as the public face of the team, should have had an answer ready that adequately defended his qb. He didn't, and that was a bad decision, as evidenced by the fact that people are still talking about it. Meanwhile, we have morons saying that the media shouldn't be covering this thing that everyone is talking about, because, if they didn't cover it, no one would talk about it. Which shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how the media works.

F___ Brett Favre.

Who cares if they asked Carson about Favre's opinion? Carson is playing terribly. He's going to get criticism. Play like you're a franchise QB and they won't bother with these kind of questions.

I really wish athletes and coaches could say what they want to say to these hacks.

"What do you think of Favre's comments?"

"Does Brett Favre work for this team? Is he a coach? No? Moving on"

Ask stupid questions get stupid answers. I dislike almost every eagles beat reporter, a bunch of jagoffs.

I understand that but there are a lot of things that I believe more fans would be interested in given the self scouting that goes with the bye.  Seems like a huge waste of the question afforded to the reporters that asked those questions.

I am happy with how Doug handled those ridiculous Wentz/Foles questions regarding Favre.  I read it as he's trying to not blast a friend of his in public by saying, "that's his opinion".  I knew exactly what he meant.  Basically what he really wanted to say was, "He's entitled to his opinion, I disagree with it.  I'm the coach, so that's all that matters".  It certainly didn't need to be qualified with two follow up questions.  What does Favre have to do with the Eagles, Wentz or this current season for that matter?  Should we poll every legendary retired hall of famer to get their opinion, so Doug can respond?  I have had my issues with Doug as a play caller and an enabler at times.  But he handled that perfectly.  As a matter of fact, he could have been more stern and snarky with them to put them in their place.  "If you put words in my mouth, we're gonna have a problem".  Was great.  Would love to see more of that.  This team lacks physical and mental toughness and a lot of that is on DP.  It's nice to see him clap back.

I disagree with the bold.  Dallas lacks mental toughness, they fold like a house of cards as soon as adversity hits.   Doug has dealt with a ton of adversity as the HC going back to the 2017 season, and despite it all, he got them through a playoff run without their starting QB, MLB, LT and a few other positions and won a Super Bowl.   In 2018, they had similar injury issues and he got them through that with another playoff birth and even a playoff win (though a bit fortuitous).  And then he got them through the rough storm in 2019 where a less mentally tough team would have folded the tents and packed it in last year and deserved or not, they won the NFC East and got another playoff birth at 9-7.  And even after their QB was knocked out in that game early, continued to scratch and claw and would have more than likely won that game too, had McCown had an intact hamstring.   And this year... say what you want about this team, they've never packed in their bags.  They fight.  They make boneheaded decisions at times, the play calling and decisions are baffling at times, but this team has never once wavered under Doug, and always fight.  And that has a lot to do with DP.   This isn't the 2015 Eagles under Chip Kelly that just gave up and walked away.   Not even close.  This is a resilient team. Not the most talented.  Not the most fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game, but they are definitely one of the most resilient, if not the most resilient team in the NFL.

I dont have a problem with the question.  Wentz is too classy to respond to it, but if they want to try and get a rise out of him then go for it

Im more curious as to Favres explanation

Favre's explanation is that his Wrangler jeans were too tight on his CopperFit compression bands and cut off the circulation to his... brain.

Brett Favre's opinion is moo.

I hope they did ask that question. Maybe they did. I haven’t really been paying attention of late.

At the current moment, yes... but these aren't static grades.   Peters is 7 and falling.  Mailata is 6 and rising.   Personally, I think with the state of the team, cap and draft pick situation... they need to get Mailata as many reps as he can get.  He will only get better from where he is by playing.   Mailata playing at RT when Lane is out is good with me.  But, if Lane can go, then Mailata shifts back to LT and gets his reps.  Peters isn't so much better than Mailata at this point that he can justify blocking ANOTHER young LT from getting needed reps... especially as he's already extorted the team for more money.  Nah... Peters is nice to have if Mailata needs to step back because he's just getting overmatched... but he needs the reps.  Mailata is the future at either LT or RT next year.  We need him getting as much work as possible, especially with the new CBA rules about coach/player interactions.

This has kinda been my concern too. If so, it's something that could easily be corrected in the future. It would certainly explain some things anyway.

Oh..and while I'm here..@In2football... Eagles 27 Giants 18. I'm feeling some sort of game where the Eagles are always kind of in control but never quite put it away until the end. Still, they play better than they have at any point thus far. I still think the Giants are on the right track and are the biggest divisional threat over the next few seasons.

I just got an education as to who "The Weekend" is.  I thought it was a band.  Even still, The Weekend is this years SB halftime show......I'm getting old.

The Weeknd comes after Joe Friday.

That's just the facts.

I think more likely that Mailata’s role is as a swing T.  Could be wrong. I think he has played well and probably well enough to challenge Dillard next summer.  But I am not ready to anoint him a full time starter position.

I'm not really ready yet either, but no one will know if he's standing on the sidelines.
