There was one clear goal defensively this season and that was limiting big pass plays.

Well, we have only given up one play of 40+ yards through the air (1st in the NFL) and only 18 plays of 20+ yards (T2).

As for the run game, we are tied for 29th in both categories.  Of the 9 runs over 20 yards, 5 are by QBs, 2 by WRs, and only 2 by RBs.  As stated before, we do a good job at stopping the opposing RBs, it's the misdirection plays that kill us.

The two are probably related. They sell out to stop the RB runs and are exposed to misdirection. If the team played more "honest" against the run, I bet misdirection would be less effective, but so would traditional run D.

And we have the top three on our remaining schedule.  Cool.

That's OK, given we're stopping the run without overcommitting, we're not being physically beat at the LOS.

The misdirection plays can be fixed with experience, DEs (especially Sweat) learning not to bite on the fake or over commit on the pass rush.

So you mean the 49ers will go to court to keep the NFC championship trophy?

sigh... it just never stops in here sometimes.

Did Journey Brown test positive for COVID-19?

The Bucs were the most bigly complete team two weeks ago. They should have stopped counting illegal votes after Week 6

It's amazing how a bunch of us were saying Rodgers should retire in the offseason because it seemed like he was done last season

He has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

I know.

Great to see the injury report and some of the names good to go for this week and hopefully beyond this week.

Honestly, I’d look into trading Sanders this offseason and investing in two downhill bruisers to pair with Scott. Not saying I’d necessarily do it but no way am I signing Sanders to a big contract like McCaffrey or zeke got. If he finishes the season healthy and productive, his stock will be as high as it’s ever going to be.

Sanders can not demand the type of contracts Zeke and McCaffrey signed. He has not been even half the player they have been. The Eagles and every other team would laugh at his agent for even coming close to those numbers.

It's an embryo up to 11 weeks, after which it becomes a fetus.

https://www.medicinenet.com/embryo_vs_fetus_differences_week-by-week/article.htm

If you want to talk about wasting "potential life," young men should rape young women instead of ****ing, since they're wasting "potential lives."

Obviously we don't recommend that, nor would even a stanch Catholic counsel raising fetuses in test tubes to avoid miscarriages (1/2 or more of pregnancies end up in miscarriages, so God is the great abortionist), even though that would protect more unborn children than natural childbirth.

As far as late term abortions, almost all involve serious threat to the life of the mother, and are 1% or less of all abortions.

https://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/data_stats/abortion.htm

The conflict over abortion is religious, since it depends on belief in the existence of both a "soul," and that the soul enters the zygote at the point of conception. Which is why those who don't believe in a soul or belong to religious groups that don't believe a fetus is a child resent the religious imposing their views upon them (though few "pro-lifers" are willing to pay higher taxes to support those children after they're born, or even to provide better medical care to the mothers, so it's more accurate to call them "anti-abortionists").

Probably a really good thing too.  We cant get better by playing the garbage teams in our division.

no, he got tested for Covid and during the test is when they found a heart condition.

yeah... That doesnt make sense. Theres no way to find HCM with a nasal swab.

Im guessing he must have been positive for COVID which prompted a cardiac screening.

Im interested because its been a years long debate in sports medicine whether yearly pre-participation physicals for sports should include an ECG. It has not happened because despite the fact that it can save lives, it is still deemed far too statistically insignificant, and a waste of medical dollars and resources for the amount of dangerous conditions it would find.

However, now with COVID, there is going to be a reason to cardiac screen a lot of athletes who otherwise wouldnt have been, after they test positive for COVID. And I wonder if they end up finding enough conditions that makes them realize its worth it to do regardless of COVID status.

I know Franklin said they caught it due to covid testing, and its not related to covid. But theres no reason a negative COVID test should prompt an ECG and/or Echo. Though his HCM may not be COVID related, it would seem that finding it was related to the fact that he tested positive for COVID. Just an educated guess though.

Maybe I'm wrong but I was 99% sure that he tested negative but somehow the testing involved is how they found the issue.  I thought it was very important to note that it was not Covid related so people didn't jump on the Covid causes such and such.  I likened it to the Jon Dorenbos situation a few days back that he is lucky he got tested in order to find this.

"It was discovered through a routine COVID-19 test, although it is not COVID-related," Franklin said.

Yeah. He may have had the HCM prior to any Covid infection.  So it would be not covid related.

I'm just wondering what would have prompted the cardiac testing if not for a positive test with a fever and/or symptoms greater than 3 days.

Don't they have to pass a cardiac test even if they test negative for covid? Lawrence couldn't play last Saturday because he didn't take and pass a cardiac test, but was able to be on the sideline since he was covid negative.

I think they're just being extra cautious. I guess the idea is if a player already had covid but is now negative, they should still take a cardiac test in case there are any effects.

Regardless, Journey Brown had a world of potential.  I'm not a PSU fan but I enjoyed watching him play.

Lawrence tested positive. So it makes sense that he had cardiac testing done.

I assume Journey Brown had to have tested positive but I didnt see that reported anywhere. Curious.
