Don't they have to pass a cardiac test even if they test negative for covid? Lawrence couldn't play last Saturday because he didn't take and pass a cardiac test, but was able to be on the sideline since he was covid negative.

But Lawrence was positive which prompts the cardiac test. My mother had to go through hypertrophic cardiomyopathy testing a few months ago and there is no way that shows on a regular COVID test. If anything I’d bet he had COVID at some point.

That's right. Ignore what I said. I acted like his negative test after he healed up from having covid nullified his original positive for some reason. Derp.

I think they're just being extra cautious. I guess the idea is if a player already had covid but is now negative, they should still take a cardiac test in case there are any effects.

I’ve been told all PSU student athletes  had cardiac MRIs before being cleared to play their season.

Yeah, I expect something along those lines.

yeah... That doesnt make sense. Theres no way to find HCM with a nasal swab.

Im guessing he must have been positive for COVID which prompted a cardiac screening.

Im interested because its been a years long debate in sports medicine whether yearly pre-participation physicals for sports should include an ECG. It has not happened because despite the fact that it can save lives, it is still deemed far too statistically insignificant, and a waste of medical dollars and resources for the amount of dangerous conditions it would find.

However, now with COVID, there is going to be a reason to cardiac screen a lot of athletes who otherwise wouldnt have been, after they test positive for COVID. And I wonder if they end up finding enough conditions that makes them realize its worth it to do regardless of COVID status.

I know Franklin said they caught it due to covid testing, and its not related to covid. But theres no reason a negative COVID test should prompt an ECG and/or Echo. Though his HCM may not be COVID related, it would seem that finding it was related to the fact that he tested positive for COVID. Just an educated guess though.

FWIW I've been screened for covid three times now and each one included an EKG.

I'm not sure that Clyde Simmons run for a touchdown would hold up to instant replay scrutiny if that play were to happen nowadays. The issue isn't whether the ball was picked up behind the line of scrimmage, which it clearly was, making it legal. The problem, I think, is whether he actually maintained possession of the ball as he crossed the goal line. It has always looked to me as if he was in the process of losing control when he extended the ball into the endzone. At best, it's inconclusive.

Remember watching the game and Parcells was going nuts afterwards. He was literally in the end zone.

IIRC the commentators said the play was legal because the ball was picked up behind the line of scrimmage and it was 3rd down when they attempted the FG. If it had been 4th down the play would have been ruled dead where Simmons picked it up. Not sure if this is true or not?

(But we’ll still take it)

Saw Carson at a Wawa today.

I don't think so. You can't advance a fumble on fourth down unless it's recovered by the person who fumbled, but this isn't a fumble. In fact, the rule book I just checked makes no exception for fourth down for kicks. Anytime I've ever watched that replay and listened to the announcers, I've always thought they were pretty much just talking out of their asses. So I'm fairly sure that Simmons could have advanced that ball even if had been fourth down. My issue has always been about whether he actually fumbled before crossing the goal line. If he didn't, he damn sure cut it pretty damn close.

The Eagles recovered it though. Teltschick, who was the holder, fell on it after Simmons lost control of it. So, it would've been a TD anyway.

Probably a really good thing too.  We cant get better by playing the garbage teams in our division.

Okay. This seems like a good point.

LOL, So I am arrogant? :P We all have our opinions, I gave mine and am moving on. You gave yours, we all good. There are things I wont try to debate people on, because it gets too heated. But that also doesn't stop me from giving my opinion and moving on.

There was nothing arrogant about voicing your opinion. Telling others that the discussion was ended because you voiced yours was. To say that was your last word on the.subject was fine; to say that was the last word anyone could say on the subject was not.

Functionally it was "I’ve said my piece, now you shut up.”

Its like we haven't had a play end with an intentional fumble before the goal line against a division rival.   🤦‍♂️

There's a guy who redesigned the NFL.  I've long been a supporter of bringing Kelly Green back and no more black.  However,  I really like these.  He kept the Midnight green but dropped all black out of the unifor and emphasized more silver.  I think that tweak would make a huge difference.  One of my favorite parts of the KG uniforms was how much they had silver in the uniform.  From the facemask to the sleeves, this would make a huge difference.  Whether you like the KG or the MG I think the Eagles uniforms are very stale and in need of some sort of update.
