The reason he's not on IR is that there is no reason he needs to be on IR.

I said initially when he got injured, he could potentially be back to help in playoffs.

I dont remember when the injury was now. But count 6 months from then and thats when you could be seeing him. Thats a pretty typical return timeframe with the mini-open achilles repair technique these days.

I’m not getting my hopes up about Brooks returning, but if we make the playoffs I don’t think it’d be that insane that we could make a wild run in the playoffs. A lot of guys set to come back & if Wentz starts playing better ball, and if they could maintain being healthy. We could have a shot.

I want to say he got injured sometime around March/Apr/May. I think it was right after the draft but don’t know for sure. Also that dude is a superhuman and has returned early from an injury before. It could be possible, and what a massive boost to the offense it’d be. 

Just looked it up, Brooks injury happened in middle of June.

Even if it was May, 6 months is November. Give him some extra time and it could be the last couple weeks of the season in December to get warmed up for playoffs. 

He should be back. Ive always expected it.

I think having Brooks and Lane back would help build his confidence that the Oline wont get him killed

That's insane.  Not that you said it, but that it might be true... I remember when that was basically a career ender.  Dan Marino tore his, and while he was never fleet afoot, he went from being immobile to a legitimate statue after that.

well, you still get guys like Sidney Jones... you may not regain 100% of your ability for years after. But youll be healthy enough to play in months now. Used to be 9-12 months like an ACL, and maybe lost too much athleticism.

Now, yeah.... you can return quickly. Still might lose some performance ability though. 

 

The thing is, theres nothing harder to do than play CB on a torn achilles. An eccentric lengthening contraction is the most stressful movement for a muscle to make, and thats what is required of CBs on every play to click and close.  It was so so stupid to draft Jones that high even with the medical advancement.

 

OL do it to an extent, if they are pass blocking, or being bull rushed they have that same type of contraction as they are trying to anchor and moving backwards. But they dont have to explode forward out of that motion like a CB does. So still CB is far worse to try to play with that injury.

What exactly did Dillard do and why is there no talk of him returning?  His injury was quite a while ago too.

In fact, the rule book I just checked makes no exception for fourth down for kicks. Anytime I've ever watched that replay and listened to the announcers, I've always thought they were pretty much just talking out of their asses. So I'm fairly sure that Simmons could have advanced that ball even if had been fourth down. My issue has always been about whether he actually fumbled before crossing the goal line. If he didn't, he damn sure cut it pretty damn close. 

Any idea why Parcells was going so crazy then?
