Slay looked pretty shaky today against Slayton and the road isn't going to get easier for him moving forward. Metcalf, Adams, Thomas, and Hopkins will be his matchups after Cleveland next week. But that's what he was brought here to do.

Slay is the least of our worries

Can’t disagree. Situationally we are bad.

Yet we constantly go for 4th down attempts and 2 pt conversions.

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles!  Mentioned that 2/3 of their drives this year have been inside the 25... that's got to be tops in the league.

Yeah after this game they have had 107 total possessions. 74 have started at or inside their own 25. It’s actually closer to 69% now.

they had 10 possessions in this game and every single one started at or inside the 25. Average starting field position was the 16 yard line.

Just stopped by to let you all know I'm tired of Maddox too. He blows.

Hate to say it, but while Reagor was hurt, Hightower, despite his complete inability to carry out the nuances of the WR position, has been a lot more disruptive downfield on deep routes than Reagor has been since returning.

Hightower can’t track or catch, but he did shake loose.

they make poor decisions with their personnel.

Maddox shoulda been a safety. LeBlanc nickel.

And since they let Jones and Douglas go, shoulda kept Mills at CB.

Right now Mills would likely be giving us more at #2 CB than any other guy there has. And Maddox looked like a future all pro when he played S as a rookie. Then never got put back in that spot.

I just can’t get over how bad Wentz has declined. Doug was always meh, but Wentz looked like a HOFer.

I’m done defending him. There’s not too many players on in year 5 of their career that have their worst season then improve. Hope I’m wrong.

Analyzing the players game by game is kinda pointless this season. It's all about the bigger picture now. And the biggest takeaway from this season so far is it looks like whatever Wentz once had is totally gone and now he is no longer a QB capable of leading us to deep playoff runs. Now, his best is "he didn't lose it, but didn't win it either" which is the kinda bar you set for QBs in the 22-32 tier.

He's just not a good QB right now.

And that's devastating for our future.

Im not sure they can be compared. I just dont think theyre using Reagor in the same way. Reagor seems to have gotten the wonderful Golden Tate package. Which was about as horrible as the Jalen Hurts package.

This coaching staff, much like Andy Reid, is atrocious when they try to get cute and scheme for individual players.

Hightower just got to run 9 routes all day long. I wish theyd let Reagor do that.

Agreed. He was fantastic at safety, so naturally, they move him.

This team blows from top to bottom.

As frustrating as Wentz was today, people do need to consider the following.

For weeks people have been saying for him to stop the hero ball, stop forcing things, stop taking unnecessary chances. No one can deny that. There were some errant throws, yes, but as a whole he played within the offense, didn't force anything and depended on his teammates and Doug. This is playing largely into what Doug drew up and the system that Doug presented got us no where.

I am done with Wentz this season, but I'm still holding hope that we may get an actual OC in here and he can get back to form. This offense and the play-calling hasn't changed at all for years.

Once again, Howie boasts one of the NFL's least productive rookie draft classes...and one of the least productive year 2 classes...and one of the least productive year 3 classes.

Their second round pick from last year was a healthy scratch and will probably be cut after this season and out of the league in the next few seasons, their second round pick from this season is a backup, gadget QB who has little to no impact on games, and their third round pick is barely seeing any action in a position group that is the weakest on the team. This team didn't have the luxury of spending a second round pick on a player who, best case scenario, would never see the field this season outside of his 1-2 gadget plays. That pick reeked of arrogance and trying to be the smartest guys in the room. Years of awful draft picks have been catching up to this team throughout the past couple seasons, and now we're seeing the consequences.

Don't forget the previous 2nd round pick who we knew wasn't going to play his rookie year and has been cut as well as the other 2nd round pick who was selected with an All-Pro already cemented as a starter.  Granted, Goedert should develop in to a stud but he was pretty invisible today too.

Side note...I like Singleton. I think he's a keeper at LB. If we had a competent DC and defense around him I think he would do extremely well.

Edwards is pretty solid, too.

Eh, IMO they could clean house at LB, bring in 4-5 fresh JAGs and we would see no difference.  Singleton serves a role but if he was cut tomorrow we wouldn't notice a difference in the defense.

They need a new coordinator, a mentality change and some sort of value put on LB.  Until then it's just going to be a rotating door of fringe ST players being forced to play more than they should.

Two more points:

1) The offense has looked it's best when playing up tempo ALL season. We have looked out best running the ball. Wentz has said he feels more comfortable doing it. We did it for three drives today and scored all three drives.

Doug stops doing it.

2) I said this last week, but when do Eagles receivers ever make a great catch? The drive after the Scott run (I think) when the Giants drove down the field in like 4 plays. When's the last time an Eagles player made that type of catch in a game? How about two back to back?

I know this is part sarcasm, but I do think there's some merit to it. Mornhinweg is an AWFUL offensive coordinator, assistant, consultant, or whatever the hell this team calls their offensive staff. The game has passed him by and he trots out nothing but stale offenses. All you need to do is go back to the Ravens pre-Lamar offense, the Jets, and even his time here under AR to see that.

Our offense was not that good in 2016, 2018, and 2019 when Marty was not here. It comes down to one reason and one reason only why 2017 we had success and it started after our week 2 loss to KC. After 2017 Doug never went back to that way. Im sure everyone knows what that was. Its a no brainer on what the difference was between 2017 and all the other years under Doug.

Your points are well-taken, but it’s worth mentioning that most offenses, and certainly most bad ones, look best when going up tempo.  That usually comes after a chunk gain or a first down conversion.   And you’ll see an offense take advantage of that when they start with some forward momentum.

But it’s very challenging to just go up tempo when nothing is working and you can’t complete a pass.

Marty and Rich clearly aren't bringing much to the table as this offense is terrible. They should save money and fire them.  I think at the end of the season they will can Press Taylor and they won't renew Schwartz.  This dumb offensive coaching/consulting structure isn't working.  I don't think Duce will make a good OC, so I don't feel that is an option.  I think it would just be more of the same with Doug calling the plays and Duce being a "yes" guy.  Stop promoting within and get an OC.

The only way this happens is if Doug is gone at the end of this season — which I’m now 100% on board with.  He’s morphing into a full-scale analytics knob, in the same vein as Gabe Kapler

Watch a Saturday full of college football and you'll see 20 catches Eagles players can only dream of making.

Or its just that Jim's scheme is a DB killer. BTW Jones had another pick today for the Jags. Douglas still playing a high level in Carolina. Funny but sad at the same time.
