Yeah after this game they have had 107 total possessions. 74 have started at or inside their own 25. It’s actually closer to 69% now.

they had 10 possessions in this game and every single one started at or inside the 25. Average starting field position was the 16 yard line.

Those are usually our "stops” on Defense. A couple opponent 1st downs, punt from around mid-field and we get ball at our 12. 👎

Or its just that Jim's scheme is a DB killer. BTW Jones had another pick today for the Jags. Douglas still playing a high level in Carolina. Funny but sad at the same time.

Been saying this for awhile now.

I agree with you there

Does anyone have Rich Kotite's number?

Hopefully any delusions of a meaningless division win and hosting a blowout home playoff loss are over.  We need the losses to pile up now, and they will.  This team needs a talent infusion and fresh new voices and leadership.  Hopefully the owner does right by the fans and has the courage to make the necessary changes.

People like to throw the idea around that Jones is doing well there. He isn't. He got toasted by Adams for a TD that was called back for offensive holding. Rodgers threw the ball way behind his WR on the INT. Sidney Jones isn't good.

They won't win the division, so don't worry.

We should add Dana Bible as another offensive mind to join the group of Marty, Press, Rich and Doug.  The offense is bad already, so Bible will fit right in.

By dictating Dougs DC, assistants, and position coaches, Lurie has really left himself limited options for recourse.  There arent many options that don't include Doug losing his job.  Howie would inevitably be next but that would take Armageddon

We need analytics on how much momentum Doug takes out of the football team after not converting meaningless 2pt conversions

if you kick that XP you are down 6 and the team believes they can win with a td. You miss, not only does the team lose the momentum but they lose faith in the idea that Doug isn’t an idiot. Hard to play the game when you believe your hc doesn’t know what the F he is doing

@In2football

Browns 30, Eagles 16

Gonna be a little while before I’ll be able to predict an Eagles win.  The game today wasn’t even lost because of interceptions, fumbles, or killer penalties at bad times.  They were just outplayed from start to finish ..... by a 2-7 football team.

I’m more annoyed this team stumbles into something good but then try to ignore it the first opportunity they get. Mailata? Bench, let’s play Opeta and Pryor instead of Peters at one of the G spots. Fulgham? Let’s limit his snaps and then target Bradberry on Reagor when he is playing. It’s literally insane. 2017 is done, move on.

What a smart play by Harbaugh taking the penalty. It stopped the clock.  We’d never think of that.

How frustrating to know that we are likely years away from being truly competitive again.

At least we won the SB.

We said that the year Chip Kelly got fired.

2 years later they won the SB.  You can turn things around quick.  It's getting the right coach, hitting on some draft picks and getting the right FA's.

He’s totally reckless when he decides to do that crap. Same with some of the 4th down decisions as well. He still makes those decisions like he has KC’s offense or the 2017 version of his offense. He doesn’t and he needs to take that into account.

It’s almost like he took the criticism to punt in the Cinci game personal and went into hyperdrive with the 2 point conversions and 4th downs just to show people that he’s aggressive.

I honestly hope we dont make the playoffs because we need good draft picks and we need some changes within the organization.

I will say the Giants have been playing good ball lately.  I didnt have a good feeling going into this game today.  Wouldn't surprise me if they win the East.

I forget where I saw it but per analytics going for 2 and failing vs kicking the extra point and succeeding was basically a wash in terms of win percentage. Doug likely was told that and decided going for 2 was worth the potential for more points. Problem is he needs to stop relying on pure analytics and consider actual circumstances and game flow, and make a decision based on both.

I’d still be surprised if they won. Eagles would have to basically lose out to not make the playoffs. Giants and Jones are still 1-16 not including Washington in their past 17 games. Benglas, Browns and Cowboys are their only realistic wins left.

I still doubt Doug gets fired this year, but I think Schwartz is landing himself on the hot seat.

I want to share in your optimism but I look at the end of Chip Kelly and the starting of the new era and where we are right now as two different places. At least at the end of the chipp Kelley era you had guys entering or in their prime that were really good players. Fletcher Cox, Zach Ertz, lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Jordan hicks, jenkins, Graham just to name a few. Then you added a young quarterback that everyone believed in and gave you a new sense of hope. Got cap space to make some moves. Right now I don’t see his new sense of hope. Carson Wentz has not looked good pretty much all year. On offense you have Miles Sanders and Fulgham. Reagor, goedert have upside and potential but reagor we haven’t been able to incorporate properly and goedert is often injured and really besides the Washington game not exactly a huge factor. Granted I don’t think it’s all their fault I don’t think we’re doing a very good job coaching and playing to their strengths. But that’s 4 skill position players who are young you can grow with. The offensive line has some guys who have potential like mailata. but really I’m not so sure herbig or Driscoll are locks to just be starters or if you don’t look for starters who are better with guys like lane, brooks and kelce being older.

On defense what young players do they have? I’m not trying to be negative Nancy but just look at the roster on that side of the field. IMO TJ Edwards is a nice linebacker but I don’t know if he’s a starting linebacker. Barnett might not even be back next year if they don’t think his price tag is worth it. I like singleton but i view him as a solid backup. Hargrave has been a massive disappointment. Really Graham, slay, mcleod, malik Jackson and cox are all aging and closer to being out of their prime then in it.

i haven’t gone into our cap situation to make additions to the roster that could help with a quicker fix

I get in the NFL things can turn around really quickly but I feel like that’s not going to happen with the Eagles. I think there is way too many older players carrying this roster to just slightly below average and not enough young guys to make that transition faster

I’m interested to know if he’s really on the last year of his contract. I haven’t seen it confirmed anywhere but that will tell you all you need to know. Hiring Burke as the DL coach leads me to believe he has a longer leash than fans think. I also think it’s kind of funny people want to fire him immediately yet he’s been the best DC since JJ

I personally don’t think Schwartz should be fired, I think he’s hurting from a personnel standpoint. Every defensive unit he’s fielded has been average to above average. But games like today makes me think he’ll be a scapegoat this year.

He sucks and has for years.

I know for sure he’ll be the first scapegoat. I also think they set up some weird internal power structure where Doug and Jim are essentially even with Howie making the final call in regards to the roster. It’s also pretty obvious this dynamic isn’t working.

I’ll put it this way eagles three wins this year came against Mullens, dinucci and Daniel jones where they held them to 20, 9 and 21 points. It really skews how the defense has looked. So in those games giving up 16.7ppg. They had 8 turnovers so 2.7 a game.

the other 6 QBs were Haskins, Goff, burrow, Lamar, Big Ben and jones. Now the Haskins game is the outlier. can’t put most of it on the defense but they were awful in the red zone. But Goff, burrow, Lamar, Big Ben and jones was all the defense. They didn’t look good in most of those other 5 games. Even if you took Washington game out as an outlier, the eagles have given up 31 ppg in the the 4 losses and 1 tie. Granted it doesn’t help that Wentz kept turning the ball over and giving teams good field position. However the defense did nothing to stop them once they got good field position and just broke inside the red zone. I’m these games they had 2 in 6 games. Really the defense has only one as ST got a muffed punt as one of the turnovers

But let’s call it the way that it is the Eagles in the red zone are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Based off espn stats they have given up 20 touchdowns on 29 red zone trips. Furthermore if you take away Washington giving them a turnover on downs its 20 for 28 (could also make the case dallas had the clock run out late in that game inside the red zone). They’ve been awful there. They’ve also been horrendous every time the eagles score they seem to give points right back. The Eagles had 3 scoring drives today. On two of them the eagles defense gave up tds on the very next drive. Add on when they have 1 or fewer turnovers they are 0-5-1.  Let’s be realistic the Eagles only had two great games with turnovers and they came against two quarterbacks who are back ups or not going to be in the league in about a year. This has been an issue that been popping up over the last three years. The turnovers just aren’t there.

I like Schwartz and I think he’s a solid DC but i also think we are seeing the league catch up to him, we might need a new voice and i don’t think the talent or production from our guys is near the level it was back in 2017.
