This. I shake my tv every time wentz lines out at wr.

Just put hurts in put Wentz on the bench

Or line both qbs up in the backfield it's just mind numbingly stupid to think that doug and co whole plan when drafting hurts was to put him in and run a zone read with Wentz at WR???

I can think of about 10 different plays one could run with hurts yet Doug and his 15 Offensive coaches have come up with flex Wentz out to wr and have hurts crash into the OL for a yard😒

Better yet don't bring Hurts out at all that seems to not work

Listening to Boomer Esiason the other day and he said if Wentz ever became Available Frank Reich would be all over him "loves him” is another term he used.

Wentz's contract is tough to trade. I do remember I read there was one year where there was an out for us, but looking at "over the cap", it's not obvious. I thought it was after the 2021 season but I don't think they will want to absorb that dead money unless Wentz reverts back to the turn over machine.

I'm pretty sure I was calling for a moving pocket from them... Carson is better on the move... right, wrong or indifferent, its just true.   He never kept a single Zone Read and ran with it either.   That had to be by design.   and frankly, if they spent the week of the bye 'self-scouting', how did they not catch on that Wentz is better after getting hit running a little bit, and having moved around behind the LOS, than he is sitting in the pocket trying to be pinpoint accurate?   Just trying to fit a square peg into the round hole.   It hasn't worked.

Or that. When he was drafted I thought maybe they'll use him in some sort of wild cat package or some kind of 2 qb formation with them both lined up in the backfield but nope, basically they drafted hurts so Wentz could play WR 3 snaps a game.

Maybe they figured since they paid Wentz so much he needed to earn his worth as a run blocking WR. Chip kelly would have loved Wentz at WR😒

Listening to Doug here, he sounds defeated, he says he is pissed off, but he sounds lost to me. Maybe I am wrong here, but the stuff he brings up, most stems from coaching in my mind.  How pissed off is the team?

One other thing that would help is starting field position, we cant start every drive inside our own 20 and expect to score TD's regularly- ST's has got to help out.  Between the PR not catching the ball allowing them to down it inside the 20- like multiple times yesterday, to illegal blocks in the back on almost every return- that has got to change.

LOL

I think we've actually reached the point where cap space is not a problem.

This team isn't going to compete in 2021.

I don't want to go out and sign another Javon Hargrave to a $13m per year contract. Their inability to overpay veteran band-aids due to the 2021 cap troubles is irrelevant.

And there is no one on the team that I really care if they become a cap casualty so they can slide under.

So if we could get enticing draft compensation for anyone...and I won't start a side debate by naming names or arguing prices...just assume it's the right offer for the right player, who cares what our cap hit is?

I was all in on Bienemy as a new HC but would he turn into Doug as well? I'm worried now about AR disciples

That's a fair assessment... and maybe getting away from the AR model would be healthier.  They had AR from 1999 - 2012... took a 3 year break with the Chip-fraud, then went right back to the well with the closest thing they could find in Doug in 2016.   It worked... it really did.  2017 was magical and I wouldn't trade it for anything... but it might be time to completely strip down everything from Howie, maybe even Dom Smolenski, down and start fresh.   Jeffery Lurie isn't going anywhere, but he needs some new people around him in his ear.

And maybe look for a new young guy... a fresh new mind, with fresh new ideas that he came up with himself, not ideas he stole from someone else.   But, I know no idea who that would be...

Telfon Don...Telfon Doug Gotti

Fixed

The decision to draft him was terrible unless you think they foresaw the precipitous decline of Wentz.  There's no question there were players available in the 2nd round that would have helped the team.  As to Doug and Howie, I think Doug has not been given a lot of leeway by Howie.  I mean he was forced to purge his offensive staff last season.  He has been stuck with Schwartz.  I think he has not had answers and hasn't done a good job this season but he's an effective head coach.  He just needs better supporting staff.  He needs an innovative OC that he will listen to and not what he has on staff now.  He needs a QB coach that gets in Carson's head better.  There's no question Doug was a key reason the team won it all.  He deserves credit for listening to his coordinators.  He needs better help developing a game plan as that's not his strength.  Ideally, they just bring in an OC.

The name you’re going to wind up hearing the most this off-season is likely going to be Carolina’s offensive coordinator joe brady. He seems like the next mcvay, shanahan and kingsbury type hire.

Lurie won't move on from Howie until his own name is getting dragged through the dirt for neglecting to move on.

So until Lurie is the one in the media's crosshairs, which won't be a for a while, Howie will be the GM.

I honestly think Doug goes before Wentz. There was absolutely zero part of the team ready for the game yesterday. After a bye, not ready for the Giants . I still needs someone to explain to me going for 2 after the 2nd touchdown

I can’t figure that out. My only guess is Doug wanted to be in a position where a g could win the game, but if you can’t trust your kicker to kick a PAT, how can you trust him on a GW FG?

I remember Mr. Lurie firing chip kelly real fast towards the end of the season when all hell broke lose and the FANS and players lost faith. If I remember just really 1 bad bad year.

He has the balls to do it, if this train wreck keeps on picking up steam I can see him doing it.

It wasn't about the fans losing faith.   It was about the players.   And we'll see if this group of players quits on Doug.  So far, they never have.   If they do, then I think Lurie will... but if they don't, I don't see it happening.

I don't care how frustrated or "pissed off" he is, he can keep saying that all he wants, he's in charge HE NEEDS TO MAKE THE CHANGES to make the team more successful.

Meh empty platitudes from doug.

At some point one has to see that whatever they are trying to do in those meetings and practices and what not just isn't working.

Eagles didn't get beat for lack of talent or lack of heart they got beat because their coaches continually put them in position to not succeed.

I'm surprised only 70% said it was on the coaches I thought it would be closer to 90%.

I can't remember the last time I saw a group of coaches get out coached on both sides of the ball, oh wait its almost every game this year, never mind.😒

Cant disagree with any of this.

Doug said he felt good about the play calls yesterday...

theres 4 or 5 teams that would go through hell and back to get the deal done for Wentz.

Another 10 or so that would try really hard to get Wentz

Ive said it forever, you gotta hitch your wagon to Wentz or Doug, and I think everyone else is realizing it

I think the Wentz v. Doug thing is a false dichotomy.  They need improved offensive game planning and play calls.  That's Doug's issue but it is fixable without getting rid of him.

They are trying so desperately to justify that pick... and it is destroying so much...

Lol Doug got snippy when someone mentioned taking Wentz off the field when they put Hurts in like Saints do with Brees

Yup.   Brady is a guy I'd like to see.

Everyone check off "anonymous sources" from your bingo cards!

Apparently anonymous sources are saying Wentz is sloppy in practice
