That tells me that Hurts was a Howie thing.  From Howie defending it the next day, to the coaches' lack of a plan to get him on the field, it screams "Howie" to me.

If true, I feel for Doug there, it must be infuriating.  It makes no sense to do it and they keep doing it

It tells me Doug doesn't know what the F is going on.

Good for Philadelphia and it’s officials to see the current climate and act appropriately. They are taking this seriously and really care about its citizens....

... in that no one should be forced to watch this train wreck in person.

Not only that... its safer for the players and coaches... this fan base could turn ugly on these guys with the dreck they are putting out there.

I don't know, Doug seemed pretty excited when they showed his face immediately after the hurts pick.

Ego

Wanting to win would be an ego thing. Being afraid of being in the "cross hairs" isn't. IMO

He wants to be loved and adored by the fans.

Telfon Don...Telfon Doug Gotti

Fixed

If Doug is Teflon, Howie has an adamantium skeleton, vibranium skin and liquid Teflon as blood.

Bigger question, do they know Wentz doesn't have to be split out wide to run Jalen Hurts plays?

But Carson was wiggling his fingers like he was expecting a pass!  That's what I heard on the radio.

Did PA have a spike in new cases?

QB factory. I think it was Howie

"That's a great idea, something we'll have to look into?"

He also said when asked about Carson that " he ...managed the run game well..."

That's the equivalent of saying Mack Hollins did well because he " lined up correctly"

As an unabashed optimist, yesterday was just flat out gross. There's lots of changes and absolutely warranted criticism of this entire organization. But some of the posters in here who have been ultra negative all year are acting like it's Christmas morning in here. They're getting out all the I told you so's their little hearts can handle. Congrats, I guess? The franchise is swirling around the toilet bowl, but at least you were "right".

Official, no more fans at the Linc for now.

Yes. The entire country has spiked, really.

It's more about shinning the light on it so there's changes

It's better when it's out in the open. Now it would be difficult to defend the trash we've seen

I stopped looking at the count and I've practically been a hermit in the pandemic so haven't been worried

Yup I was kind of miffed a few weeks ago when the board was ripping joe judge as a horrible coach. I've seen nothing from him to suggest hes lost or in over his head or his team doesn't or hasn't responded to him.

He's made sound game management calls all year, his players and team is getting better and playing hard.

There aren't any grumblings like in dallas with mccarthy or any thing really to suggest hes the next Dave campo or jim zorn both coaches whom were obviously way in over their heads as head coaches.

Meanwhile Doug is on the sideline looking just as confused as he does during pressers.

There's been plenty of grumbling about McCarthy and his coaching out of Dallas.

No, it's fine and fair to level criticism at the organization. Puffing out your chest as some are doing and rejoicing in the downfall is the issue.

Yup I meant to say there hasn't been any grumblings in NY about the coaches like there has been in dallas with mccarthy

They asked about Peters at guard and Mailata at LT and Doug said no

Looks like Peters will be the foreseeable LT until he gets hurt again

And all of the sudden Peters has played 100% of the snaps the last 2 games.

I just don't get it.  Mailata is NOT going to improve from the sidelines.  He isn't a typical football player who can see things and think back to a previous experience.  He needs to learn every single in and out of the game and the only way he can is from experience.  They are going to eff this up.

Mailata was the most exciting thing happening to this team during his tenure at LT.  It was a sign of hope and a glimmer of possible domination down the road.  Now we have to hope he can take mental reps.

How is it possible to hate the head coach who won our first Super Bowl so much?  To never want to see our HOF LT on the field again? and so on and so on

Lurie is in a really tight spot.

He's got undying loyalty to Howie, superbowl loyalty to Doug, and massive financial ties to Wentz....and a team with very little resources or opportunity to be much different in 2021.

Option 1: Do nothing, maintain loyalties, keep at it.  Then it's nearly impossible to sell the fans into any excitement for 2021.  If 2021 goes bad, then Lurie knows he's going to be the one in the crosshairs, not Doug, not Howie, not Wentz.

Option 2: Scapegoat one of the 3.  It keeps the angry fans at bay, makes it easier to argue that you aggressively want to compete and will not tolerate failure.  Doug without Wentz in 2021 with...Hurts???.  Wentz as our QB with 1 offseason with a new HC and with the same talent on offense.  Doug/Wentz without Howie and with one draft of rookies from a new GM.   All 3 of those options are going to be bad teams in 2021.  So you can scapegoat 1, for one offseason, and then watch the remaining 2 fail later. Then what do you do?

Option 3: Clean house.  Lurie does not go for brash moves like this.

Really how undying is his loyalty to Howie? He essentially severely limited Howie's role when Chip told him he needed complete authority.  That decision was based on one year of getting to the playoffs.  They made changes after 2 seasons where they underperformed but made the playoffs.  They made big changes after Chip failed in one season as HC/GM.  I don't think Lurie is afraid of making a decision to change the coach or GM.   I am not sure that I see any kind of justification for getting rid of Wentz, Pederson and Howie.  I think getting rid of Howie allows a new GM to come in and make clear changes to the coaching staff. The GM doesn't have to be a rookie GM so I don't think getting rid of Howie gives Pederson or Wentz an out in 2021.   I mean I really think the problems are primarily on the offensive side of the ball.  I think the problem is more of a coaching issue than talent issue at this point.

I think the time has passed when emotional intelligence was the greatest need in a head coach. We're on to football intelligence now.

Lurie's only loyalty should be to the Philadelphia Eagles and their future. Period. Whatever is best for the future of this organization is what he should do, and if that means cutting ties with guys he likes, so be it. Doesn't mean it's easy to do, but that's sports. It's a cold cut throat business.

I hope he does what needs to be done with this organization, because this current structure is so over.

Despite all of the doubts about Doug, the continued decline of our expensive QB, poor execution by everyone on offense, and an abject lack of talent on defense....

...we get to stay in first place for at least another 13 days!

You're welcome.

I don't hate him but he certainly has made me angry as of late

Because it was years ago.  Doug and everyone on that team will always have a special place in our hearts.  But the NFL is about what have you done lately.  Just seems there's been a steady decline since the SB year.

We dont care about a SB from 3 years ago.  We want a 2nd Lombardi.  We arent the Cowboys bragging about SB's from 25 years ago.

You could have said that in a more emotionally intelligent manner
