Really how undying is his loyalty to Howie? He essentially severely limited Howie's role when Chip told him he needed complete authority.  That decision was based on one year of getting to the playoffs.  They made changes after 2 seasons where they underperformed but made the playoffs.  They made big changes after Chip failed in one season as HC/GM.  I don't think Lurie is afraid of making a decision to change the coach or GM.   I am not sure that I see any kind of justification for getting rid of Wentz, Pederson and Howie.  I think getting rid of Howie allows a new GM to come in and make clear changes to the coaching staff. The GM doesn't have to be a rookie GM so I don't think getting rid of Howie gives Pederson or Wentz an out in 2021.   I mean I really think the problems are primarily on the offensive side of the ball.  I think the problem is more of a coaching issue than talent issue at this point.

On this we strongly disagree.  When you evaluate the Eagles draft record, it is abysmal.  The team is still primarily relying on the few remaining difference makers acquired long ago.  There is very little young talent, and many recent high draft picks are not contributing or are not even on the team anymore.  The talent level remains in steady decline.  That is on the GM and personnel group.

No question the coaching has been bad this year, but the Eagles haven't drafted worth a damn for a long time and those bills have come due.

You could have said that in a more emotionally intelligent manner

That's the best he's got

Are people seriously jumping ship on Doug Pederson?

- First off, the season isn't over

- 2nd - he's dealing with a myriad of injuries

- 3rd - even the players that are playing, haven't been playing at their best level - other than a handful of exceptions

Lurie's only loyalty should be to the Philadelphia Eagles and their future. Period. Whatever is best for the future of this organization is what he should do, and if that means cutting ties with guys he likes, so be it. Doesn't mean it's easy to do, but that's sports. It's a cold cut throat business.

I hope he does what needs to be done with this organization, because this current structure is so over.

This is exactly right.  He is the owner, but he holds this team in trust for the community and the fans.  He has the opportunity to leave his own mark on the team, which he certainly has, but also an obligation to always act in the best interests of the team.  There have been prior owners and there will be different future owners.

All this doesn't change some very stupid decisions.

But Carson was wiggling his fingers like he was expecting a pass!  That's what I heard on the radio.

Must be the new wrinkle they came up with during the bye while self scouting

I don't think Doug is the first problem on the list, but this season has exposed some flaws.  Most notably, the free fall we are seeing in Wentz.

How is it possible to hate the head coach who won our first Super Bowl so much?  To never want to see our HOF LT on the field again? and so on and so on

Doug has always been weak with the media/fan base. Losing is exacerbating this problem.

So you'll let him drop a safe on you?

Injuries excuse doesn’t work anymore when they get guys back from injury and they take a step backwards. Sure, no DeSean, Brooks, Ertz, and Seumalo, but that doesn’t serve as an excuse anymore. Sanders, Alshon, and Lane all played yesterday and the offense still looked like it was stuck in the dark ages.

Has Doug been coaching you?

There are a lot of moving parts and dynamics that happen during games....especially when the QB has several plays he can option or audible at the line of scrimmage.  What looks like a less desirable play call could be due to a number of reasons....

For example, the QB could have audibled into a better play based on what the defense looked like.   Or the Wr ran a bad route.  Or the line collapsed.  Or there was miscommunication on the sidelines.  Or someone ran too skow, ran the wrong direction, ball was tipped, etc etc etc.

There's still 7 games left in the season, so let's see what happens from this point forward.

No I just want something to hurt less than watching an Eagles game

The better question is: Has the Eagles FO jumped ship from Doug?

Because the signs have certainly been there and things keep getting worse over time, starting from the moment they walked off the field as SB winners.  Doug needs to get things going in the right direction ASAP.

Not moral victories, actual victories where we have more points at the end

The seasons not over but unless they do a complete 180 and go on a tear against the top teams remaining like GB, Seattle, NO and Arizona, which is highly unlikely, the season is mostly over at worst, apathetic at best to the fans. Besides the outlier poster who thinks this is easily a top 10 offense.

Everyone deals with injuries. Other teams have been dealing with unexpected COVID losses for stretches of games. Dougs been dealt a bad hand here, but you can still play that bad hand correctly. Giants lost their top 2 RB's but still managed to run all over us. San Fran has had far more injuries to their offense and are still averaging more points per game than the Eagles. Injuries is a valid excuse, but it goes only so far.

Third is a direct correlation to coaching. And if its the position coaches fault, it's Dougs fault for not coaching the coaches.

There are a handful of people here not entirely jumping ship, but it's getting annoying, especially when he acts like a know it all in all his pressers while treating the media and fan base like they are the ones who are f'ing dumb.

Drafting and talent are issues. I just don't think they're a bigger issue than coaching.  I mean the training staff and injuries are also an issue.
