I will always have love and appreciation for Doug.  Nothing this year will ever change that.

I don't agree at all with the staff he has put together, or at least the structure of it.  It makes no sense.  It's not clear how any of it fits together, and it's not clear who is responsible or accountable for anything.  That said, I don't know what goes on in their work and in preparation for games.  The results certainly have not been good.

I absolutely hate that Doug/team seem to be more beholden to the "analytics" than ever.  In the past, I thought he took the information and made informed, usually good decisions with the analytics as one input.  Now?  It seems like he is being forced to take it, or maybe just is misinterpreting information, and making obviously bad decisions.  "They say we have to go for 2!!  Of course we are... what do you hate math now?  You don't believe in science?  What are you a dope?  Listen to the analytics..."  The whole perspective of game scenarios, teams and situations ALWAYS being invariably DIFFERENT, and data sets being inherently FLAWED and/or INCOMPLETE, seems to be completely lost.  They do stuff that makes no sense seemingly every week, outsmarting the league at every turn, as usual. They should just coach the team by AI... throw up an iPad on a pole with numbers and calculations showing and just do whatever it says if this is how they want to run things.

Does Doug seem lacking in both confidence and solutions?  Yes.  Could it be time for him to go, or does he need a change of scenery?  Possibly.  Would just "giving up playcalling" - presumably to one of the other geniuses on the current staff - help him be a better coach?  Maybe.  There is so much we don't know, especially this year where information is so much more limited due to all of the access restrictions.

Hate Doug?  Never in a million years.  Not me.  Even when he is obviously screwing up I could not hate the guy.

Fire Doug after this season?  Maybe, but there is too much I don't know.

New GM and personnel group after this year?  Without any doubt.  That information is all there, and it is impossible to argue against that being the best decision.

Add my voice to the cacophony about bad coaching. That first 85-yard drive was actually more than 90, since we got a sack on the first play. I don't know which was more difficult to watch - the Giants carving us up or the absolutely clueless resistance we put up against the Rams. Simply atrocious defensive coaching. No preparation whatsoever. I give Stoutland almost a pass ebcause the OL blocked pretty well, especially in the run. I make a loud exception for Matt Pryor, however. On one play, a Power to the left, he pulled and a safety took out his legs. When some pipsqueak tries to cut you, the only response is to drop an elbow into his back with all the weight and force you can muster. Hurt him. See if he does that again. That was really weak.

Not my best weekend, I might say. My Wolverines got absolutely smoked by Wisconsin and then there were the Birds.

Maybe the Eagles should have hired Jason Garrett as their OC.

Are people seriously jumping ship on Doug Pederson?

- First off, the season isn't over

- 2nd - he's dealing with a myriad of injuries

- 3rd - even the players that are playing, haven't been playing at their best level - other than a handful of exceptions

Your third point falls directly on Doug's shoulders, though. He needs to be the one getting these guys ready. He isn't. He needs to make sure the other coaches are doing their job. He isn't.

He refuses to get Carson out of the pocket. He refuses to stick with the run game. He refuses to have Hurts actually throw a pass. He doesn't have the balls to tell Peters to shut up and slide to RG. He doesn't have the balls to tell Alshon to shut his Fing mouth to the media and spend the rest of his Philly career on the bench.

We don't run up tempo frequently (when we do, we play very well). We don't run the ball. We don't have Wentz on the move. We sit Hightower when he's routinely gotten open/gotten open deep. We never see any creativity. We never try getting Reagor involved with a sweep or a run.

I have defended Doug a number of times. I respect that he has constantly had a short hand, yet amazingly gets this team in the playoffs (aside from this season). I will ALWAYS appreciate what he did for all of us in 2017. As frustrated as I am, I can at least die happy saying that I finally witnessed the Eagles hoist that damn trophy.

But I am done. Enough is enough, now. Things are getting worse as the years go on. It falls on his shoulders.

As for Wentz, he can F off for 2020 as well. Get a new coach in here. Get an actual OC in here. Get a GM in here that can actually draft and let's see what Wentz can do in 2021.

Oh and if Carson is sloppy in practice who's fault is that?

Nothing is Carson's fault in your eyes, so the answer is everyone else?

Another dumb opinion added to the blog. That said it's also the coaches fault.

JJAW also practices poorly, I blame the coaches.

People get very emotionally invested in the quarterback of their favorite teams. It's hard to evaluate them with clear eyes. You are evidence.

No, it's fine and fair to level criticism at the organization. Puffing out your chest as some are doing and rejoicing in the downfall is the issue.

I'm not happy that the team sucks. I'm happy that others can see it as well now

The better question is: Has the Eagles FO jumped ship from Doug?

Because the signs have certainly been there and things keep getting worse over time, starting from the moment they walked off the field as SB winners.  Doug needs to get things going in the right direction ASAP.

Not moral victories, actual victories where we have more points at the end

I still don't think Doug gets fired. I do think there's some type of conflict between Doug and Howie though. I think Doug will get a pass. Need to bring in a better GM that isn't obsessed with old vets and QB factories

Pryor deserves to be cut and Opeta belongs on the PS. Neither have any business starting a game.

There's been conflict between Doug and Howie/FO from Day 1, just different levels of conflict.

Yes, no one here ever criticizes Wentz.

But Carson was wiggling his fingers like he was expecting a pass!  That's what I heard on the radio.

Oddly they said the same thing on the TV.    That's some great deception and attention to detail.

Did PA have a spike in new cases?

Yes, especially in the SE corner of the state.

thanks for the strawman

He also said when asked about Carson that " he ...managed the run game well..."

That's the equivalent of saying Mack Hollins did well because he " lined up correctly"

Not quite, because Carson does have the ability to audible... and does.

Got excited for nothing when I saw Al Horford was trending.

As an unabashed optimist, yesterday was just flat out gross. There's lots of changes and absolutely warranted criticism of this entire organization. But some of the posters in here who have been ultra negative all year are acting like it's Christmas morning in here. They're getting out all the I told you so's their little hearts can handle. Congrats, I guess? The franchise is swirling around the toilet bowl, but at least you were "right".

I was holding out optimism for a turn around... but yesterday killed it for me.

Maybe I still had the TV on at that point before I left the house.  Either way it's just silly.

regarding the spikes in positive cases...can't this be attributed to more testing?  Isn't that what people wanted all along? more testing? I don't even know anymore.  All I know is TP is flying off the shelves again despite the fact we were told Americans don't panic.  Sorry that could be a CVON comment.

Doug is now 1-4 Post Bye Weeks regular season (2-4 if you include Super Bowl) Not like his Mentor Andy sadly.  It' s wired, we are 6-0 on Thursday Night.   So we get ready for short week but long breaks not that great.  Anyways, not a great performance.   Now we have a gauntlet of a schedule the next 5 weeks.  All Winning Teams.   This is either going to make or break this team down the stretch.  One positive is Doug and the team normally turns it on this time of year.   Hopefully we shock some people during this hard round of games.  I'm not shocked the Gmen won.  It's hard to beat an NFC EAST team as many times as the Eagles just did.   8 Straight from 2016 Nov to 2020 Nov.   Amazing run.  Sad thing was we were still in striking distance but our mistakes cost us.

Same. Optimism turned to apathy.

Maybe its not so weird. We play better when things are simplified. Happens on Thursday nights, happened in 2017. Maybe they should just stick to that approach.

What games do you think they win? Brees may be out for a bit but it wouldn't shock me if Winston lights the Eagles up

Packers have lots to crappy teams but I doubt that happens again

Hawks may not have a defense but we don't really have an offense

Maybe the Browns?

Watching the game yesterday, there wasn't a lot that was "complicated" on our end.

On Thursday nights, it's also the opponent's game plans that are simple. That's honestly what helps us the most.
