Not my best weekend, I might say. My Wolverines got absolutely smoked by Wisconsin and then there were the Birds.

We share the same boat.

Regarding the OL, I saw a called rollout by Doug blown up when Pryor totally whiffed on a reach block.  Didn't even make contact.  Doug also called a play action pass that was blown up because Opeta, who was pulling to show a run blocking scheme to sell the pass, totally whiffed on his block.

Although I think Carson is the bigger problem right now, it's hard to win with your #4 and #5 guards.  Just one poor OL play can put you in third-and-long, killing a possession.  Throw in bad snaps and pre-snap penalties, we are wasting possessions before we even get to the QB.

What games do you think they win? Brees may be out for a bit but it wouldn't shock me if Winston lights the Eagles up

Packers have lots to crappy teams but I doubt that happens again

Hawks may not have a defense but we don't really have an offense

Maybe the Browns?

We beat Greenbay in Greenbay last year.  Seattle and Saints obviously have had our number but both games are in Philly this time.   Arizona and Browns are playing well but aren't invincible.   I know on paper and with how we've been playing, people think we are about to go 0-5 but I don't believe that.  I think we can pull out 2 or 3 of the next 5.   Right now 6 or 7 wins will win the NFC East.

Important to note in regards to Howard

I think the time has passed when emotional intelligence was the greatest need in a head coach. We're on to football intelligence now.

Ouch. Jameis Winston time.

One area of coaching deficiency I think we all agree on is the QB coaching.  Something is just off.  I'm not absolving Carson from his mistakes or "apologizing" for him - far from it, he has been awful and we have discussed this all year - but his mechanics are far worse than in the past and that is partially coaching.  Also his pre-snap recognition seems to have regressed, not to mention his decision making.  He also makes the same mistakes over several games.  Following the bye week, the "self scouting" appears to have led to hesitancy and "playing within the system" more, which didn't produce well this week.

From BGN, concerning the "leaks" of Carson's practice habits:

Quote

Transcript:

"Carson Wentz this season is a far cry from the guy who was tearing it up in the first part of 2017. There are some sloppy practice habits that he’s been allowed to perpetuate, that have carried over, not checking the ball down or knowing when to give up on a play, forcing the ball to predetermined receivers, and maybe overestimating his once elite athleticism. And, look, they drafted Jalen Hurts in the second round. That was clearly a signal that they are not necessarily standing pat at that position. So, I think, organizationally, they would like to continue to build this around Carson Wentz, but if this downward spirals, there’s a sense that it could all be blown up.”

The line about "sloppy practice habits” is concerning. Pederson predictably denied that characterization on Monday but, if it’s true, that’s clearly an indictment of Wentz. It’s also an indictment of quarterbacks coach Press Taylor, whose effectiveness has been questioned here for some time now. It’s hard not to think there’s a serious lack of accountability and tough love.

Pederson and Wentz can quiet this chatter by finding a way to turn things around. But it’s hard to have confidence in them doing that right now. And thus the leaks may only continue.

One thing seems clear, he needs a dedicated QB coach who is not the quasi offensive coordinator or run game coordinator or pass game coordinator or whatever it is... he needs someone dedicated to making him better, to optimizing how he or any QB on the team plays the position.  He seemed to have that with DeFilippo and it worked.  Something needs to change for him.

Same. Optimism turned to apathy.

Which means we'll look like a well-oiled machine on Sunday.

Think about the despair before the Rams game in 2018.  Or when we were down at halftime to the Giants last year on MNF.  Buckle up.

I'm fully expecting something stupid like smoking the Seahawks on MNF

Whats the over/under on turnovers for a Jameis Winston vs Carson Wentz game?

Packers aren't the same team from last year lol

I don't think we can go deep in the playoffs so I kind of don't even want to make it. There needs to be FO and coaching changes that won't happen if they squeak into the playoffs with 6 or 7 wins

Maybe its not so weird. We play better when things are simplified. Happens on Thursday nights, happened in 2017. Maybe they should just stick to that approach.

Astute logical thought by you. Well done lad!

Not quite, because Carson does have the ability to audible... and does.

Not sure that qualifies as managing the run game well, when the team goes 0 for on 3rd down and abandons the run game.

If eagles were winning and the offense was effective efficient and scoring then maybe one could say,hey Wentz is doing a good job managing the run game and getting us in good plays and out of bad plays but that's not what's happening.

The offense is an inconsistent incongruent mess.

What's it say when the only straw a coach can grasp at is saying his abysmal qb managed the run game well in an abysmal offense.

Wentz being able to recognize a heavy box and audibleing out of it is as impressive as Hollins lining up correctly.

It's basic stuff, surely nothing to give praise over.

Maybe I still had the TV on at that point before I left the house.  Either way it's just silly.

regarding the spikes in positive cases...can't this be attributed to more testing?  Isn't that what people wanted all along? more testing? I don't even know anymore.  All I know is TP is flying off the shelves again despite the fact we were told Americans don't panic.  Sorry that could be a CVON comment.

Strangely, TP has been good at my local stores... no storages since it was brought back in stock... Paper towels, on the other hand, remain in short supply.

As for whether the virus is more rampant due to more testing or not... I don't know.  But, I do know that I know a lot more people who have it, or have recently had it than before.  Back months ago, I knew only 2.   At this very moment I know a dozen that are currently in quarantine because either they or a family member in their home has tested positive in the last week.

No, but I could see us beating the Saints now.

Doug is now 1-4 Post Bye Weeks regular season (2-4 if you include Super Bowl) Not like his Mentor Andy sadly.  It' s wired, we are 6-0 on Thursday Night.   So we get ready for short week but long breaks not that great.  Anyways, not a great performance.   Now we have a gauntlet of a schedule the next 5 weeks.  All Winning Teams.   This is either going to make or break this team down the stretch.  One positive is Doug and the team normally turns it on this time of year.   Hopefully we shock some people during this hard round of games.  I'm not shocked the Gmen won.  It's hard to beat an NFC EAST team as many times as the Eagles just did.   8 Straight from 2016 Nov to 2020 Nov.   Amazing run.  Sad thing was we were still in striking distance but our mistakes cost us.

They are mirror images.  Andy always lost the week before the bye, then won coming off the bye.  Doug has been good before the bye, but bad after.

I was holding out optimism for a turn around... but yesterday killed it for me.

Wow, I was exactly the same. Yesterday any optimism I had left just snapped. There was zero excuse to come out of a bye and look like that.

What amazes me with press Taylor is he’s had now 2.5 going on 3 years here and Carson has regressed under him being the qb coach. Yet he’s still here and we are firing WR coaches like it’s going out of style for underachieving with sometimes mediocre talent given to them.

Lets see here, either:

1. Wentz, after the defining moment of his career where his backup came in and won a SB, decided this was the time to get sloppy and comfortable with his career and pick up some bad habits after 2 successful seasons in the NFL

OR

2. Since the exodus of coaches, the Eagles offensive coaching has been very poor (we've seen several hires/fires in this time), and what used to be easy for Carson to understand and process is now confusing, idiotic, or both, and now difficult to process because he either hates or doesnt understand what theyre trying to do on offense

Hmmm.  Lets see here, which of these is more likely?  Considering we've brought in "help" every year and there has been a steady, consistent decline on that side of the ball since that exact timeframe....

Hmm, Ill need to think a little more

In fairness you should’ve expected it. The eagles were 1-3 after the bye. The one win was 2017 where we were actually losing to Dallas 9-7 at the half without zeke

It's funny.

I was saying I think the Jalen Hurts was the "last grasp" by doug and now that it fell on it's face I hope he's done

I don't think Hurts was a "last grasp" at all from Doug.  I don't think Doug is done.  I think Howie may be let go before Doug but Doug might not be far behind.  Doug has succeeded with better help.  He has to be open to giving up control on the offensive side of things.

Greenbay made the NFC Title Game last year.   Yes they are 7-2 and playing well but we will see if they are better than last year, still remains to be seen.  We were 1 of only 3 teams to beat them last year.   Again I know it seems far fetched but I honestly can see the guys turning this around in Late Nov/Dec.    Doug has never "Tanked".  He always finds a way to get this team fighting.   And yes, we can be dangerous in the Playoffs with us having a Home Game in Round One.   The way things are playing out we could very well see Greenbay, Saints or Seattle in the playoffs again.   Or even Brady and Tampa bay.   Oh and I just heard the Brees news so that changes the Saints game if he isn't playing.
