Pretty tough though to bench him just to see what happens. At this point though I'm open to anything (I doubt benching Wentz happens though)

I expect very little from Hurts.  But on the off chance there’s something there, its an opportunity for him to show it.

More importantly, it’s an opportunity for Wentz to hit reset and re-engage.  This same approach week after week is failing.

We have set our bar so low that Maddox just looking serviceable at safety was a good thing.  That was what 3 years ago now?  He played because of injuries and held his own.  He would be nothing more than JAG at safety too.

Unless you're referring to him being a nickel back.  IMO that's his best position, however I still don't see anything special out of him.  They never should have brought in NRC.  They should have signed/drafted a legit CB2 and had Maddox/LeBlanc battle it out for the nickel.

I am. He's a nickel. He's not an OCB. They need to end this experiment immediately, the problem is this roster outside of Slay is all nickels so there's not even a better option. That's why i've been banging the drum for stiffs like Amukamara. Just get anyone.

This is false. He made the playoffs with Carson in 2017 and then won the superbowl with his back-up.  One thing I think needs to be talked about is that fact that Doug didn't want to fire anybody last year and was forced to. Muckety mucks like it when you can evaluate and decide who needs to go on your own.

He clinched homefield advantage with Foles, won the first playoff game with Foles, won the NFC Championship game with Foles and won the Super Bowl with Foles.

The year that followed, he won out with Foles and made the playoffs and won a playoff game with Foles...likely a 2nd if it wasn't for a drop against the Saints.  This is after the team was dead-in-the-water before Foles took over.

I’ve told you guys for 2 years that every DB to play under Schwartz has regressed.

Did anyone argue with you?

If the Hurts pick had been anyone different, I think despite the record we would feel much differently about Howie.

Yup.

I think JJAW, Hurts and Davion Taylor have really just ruined Howie for most of us.

Hehe, just the latest in a long line.

The Eagles are 4th in yards per carry and 27th in rushing attempts.

I won't argue, just that it's a pretty tough thing to do. It happened with McNabb and it worked. I mean if the stories are true and if Wentz is sloppy in practice (I struggle believing that) it might send a message.

Tate was a good trade, the mistake there was letting him walk and keeping the stiff Nelson.

Nah.  They were both mistakes.   Tate was a guy they struggled to incorporate into the offense, because they couldn't figure it out?   Well, if the coaches don't know how to use a guy, then don't trade for him.   Just an embarrassing admission from the coaching staff as well though.

That's what I said. But he made the playoffs with Wentz

carson set up first seed and playoffs that year , the team doesn't get the momentum to win the bowl without wentz that year so let that crap go

No that has to be Wentz fault as well. Just has to be. The fans have spoken.

agree , just like if the team drafts jefferson he ends up looking like jjaw here with our offensive staff.

LOL..........................................Ok chief, lol

he won one of the worst divisions in football in 2019. Add he should send Kirk cousins a fruit basket as Kirk saved the eagles asses from having a Super Bowl team that was built to be a Super Bowl contender missed the playoffs. he might get to the playoffs again this year winning arguably the worst division the NFL has seen in probably 25 years. But making the playoffs is the only thing that matters not the context surrounding it  where the offense has looked bad or inconsistent for a majority of his tenure. Yeah he never could get any blame I’m the eyes of the eagles organization

Meanwhile the offense under doug has struggled for a large majority of four of five years he’s called plays. Add on lurie and howie forced him to fire coaches he didn’t want too. Wait I didn’t even mention that Adam caplan last night stated inside the organization it is known that Jeffrey Lurie is not happy with how the offense is being called or how the offense has been running under doug but no way they question doug.

this is not a Carson Wentz is the savior. No he’s played like crap this year and he’s been largely inconsistent as well over the last couple years. And I don’t doubt they are second-guessing themselves on him as well. However if you’re going to state the Eagles are second guessing themselves on him then you better believe they’re also likely second-guessing Doug and possibly thinking that 2017 (The only year the offense has been consistently good) under doug might have been an outlier.

He’s sloppy during the games.  Am I to believe he looks great in practice?

Yep they don’t even maximize the best player on this team which is Miles Sanders. He is far and away the best player on this team and yet he only had 15 carries against the giants. Meanwhile Miles Sanders is running great and doug comes back with jalen hurts package to run the ball which every team in the league has caught up too.

Stoutland is the only coach I would keep that guy is really something. Seems to be the only one who knows what the f he is doing. Eagles are 4th in yards per carry without Brooks, without Lane at times, with some of those Jags along the o line, with the most o line combinations in the NFL this year among all teams, with Kelce being the only starter at times, without Sanders for a few games and with Doug calling silly zone reads for Hurts that always go for negative yardage.

The stupid quarterback factory comment also didn’t help matters

Hero ball accounts for some of the problems.  He also isn't processing things as quickly as he should.  I keep thinking about the 4th and 3 play against Dallas. Ward should have been the hot read because pressure was coming from the MLB spot right where Ward's route was headed.  It wasn't a hard throw to make but it required a quick decision.   Wentz totally missed it. He just didn't react to the pressure in the right way and took a sack/fumble.  It wasn't hero ball but a lack of processing the field in front of him.  He didn't. I think an above average QB makes that throw.  A top 5-10 QB makes that throw look easy.  Wentz has had too many plays like that this season.

And strangely, in 2017... that's where he excelled.  It has to be the coaching... he's not as prepared as he was... whether it was Reich, DeFilippo, or the perfect triumvirate around him... he hasn't been nearly as good since.  I think that Orlovsky would be good for him, because he seems to truly believe in Wentz, but at the same time, he wants to call him out when he's doing the wrong things.  That's what Carson seems to need more of.   From what we heard, he and DeFilippo didn't always see eye to eye.  That's a good thing as long as its not adversarial.  I believe in the idea of 'iron sharpening iron'.  I think right now there's not enough accountability across the board, and when a player like Peters' has the stones to demand money to change positions, or to dictate when he will or won't play... that's a problem.  The inmates seem to be running the asylum.  That said, having a pure totalitarian coach isn't necessarily the answer either, though a lot of times the pendulum just swings back and forth from one extreme to the other.

Don’t worry this will somehow get to spun that Carson Wentz is calling out of run plays and doug is routinely calling running plays.

convenient that they dont even have to fire him since his contract is up

Pederson has made the playoffs 3 out of his 4 years, TWICE with his back up QB and won a Super Bowl with him.

The bolded is a fair point. Lurie was loyal to AR to a fault, he will be even more loyal to Dougy.

I actually am OK with the Taylor pick.  I would like them to get Taylor and Bradley on the field at the same time.

You mean have actual SPEED on the field for the defense?

I would keep Duce. He’s done a great job with sanders. I even think Scott he’s done a good job. It’s really not his fault that clement just doesn’t have it anymore. I would like to see what Huntley looks like with Duce after an entire off-season with him
