I was more or less trying to make a point with the BB comparison.Ā  I have no problem playing the young guys, I'm happy they are.Ā  We need to see if they have it or not.Ā  The issue lies more or less in DP and his explanation of making sure they rested DJack so they have him for the rest of the year.Ā  DJack, when healthy and he is, is our best WR.Ā  Reagor will be there soon but I want them on the field together as much as possible.Ā  He still had the most targets our of all WR so the ball is going his way.Ā Ā

Having DJ on a play count should be treated as a luxury that is utilized when you have a lead (17-0) but ignored when that lead begins to evaporate. That said the first INT was mostly on Wentz - it was a bad route run by the WR but Wentz threw a floater and was way late. That ball needs to be thrown as soon as the defender turns so that it is there when the WR breaks.Ā

A Super Bowl title followed by consecutive playoff berths mostly.

Most national observers predictedĀ the Eagles would be somewhere between 10-6 and 8-8 for this season -- a few had them winning the division, more had them as a wildcard team, and a few had them just missing out on the playoffs.Ā  I suspect Lurie's expectations are to compete for and win the division, and win at least one playoff round.

If the team has an unexpected "down year" and actually goes 6-10 or worse, then I suspect Doug will be on the hot seat first.Ā  It's usually the HC that feels the consequences of coming short of expectations first -- and, frankly, Doug doesn't exude enough confidence to keep him over the General Manager.

I agree that doug would be on the hot seat before howie. I'm starting to think that dougs 2017 was a flash in the pan, that he had a good grasp on the RPO game and heavily implemented it and defenses hadn't caught up along with a heavy dose of analytics seems they were ahead of the curve.

Now with more teams taking advantage of analytics and defenses catching up to RPO seems doug is on par with the rest and as such doesn't have the chops to be really good.

The eagles got out coached by wash on Sunday and doug and co need to do better.

I'm sure having a functional o line will go a long way going forward.

MIC.... Key.... why cause klentak isĀ screwed.Ā
Ā

Ā

Finally got ourselves a Mickey to replace Morandini .Ā

AND another chance at a National Title !! My God. It's been too long Boyz.Ā

Losing Reich really hurt. I also want a hard a** like DeFilippo coaching Wentz. Press sounds like he's too buddy buddy with him and mechanics have regressed ever since DeFilippo left

We just had 3 straight days of strictly football talk...as nonsensical as some of it is we are talking football and it's great.Ā  Ugh.

Someone could’ve dropped the Villanueva story where he replaced the name with veteran who died in combat and the mom of the victim’sĀ name he covered up had an issue with it.Ā

As much as some people were surprised the Eagles lost to the team without a name, I've thought for a couple of years now that WASH is building a much better roster than the Giants.

That Derrius Guice pick has to be a kick in their collective nuts, but they've used their draft position to build a solid defense, and if Del Rio can get their secondary to be adequate it turns into a really good defense.Ā  For the Howie bashers, it should be noted the Eagles had a chance to draft both Jonathan Allen and Montez Sweat and chose to leave them on the board.Ā Ā

One key mistake I believe they made was with Haskins; I haven't been impressed with him at all.Ā  Alex Smith will likely help him some, but I suspect WASH will be in the QB draft market after this season -- next season at the latest.

That's your opinion. Hopefully you aren't making that assumption just because of 1 loss. As long as we continue to have winning seasons and make the playoffs I doubt Howie will be in any danger.Ā

No not because of 1 loss. Because the issues with this team are plain to see and the loss on Sunday did not come as a surprise. I think this team is headed for some bad years. The only way out of that is to draft well. Howie is pretty damn useless in the draft.Ā

The team wanted to kneel. He may have lost theĀ vote.Ā

The issues that keep getting us in the playoffs?

I think Press is a good coach forĀ plays But not necessarily a good position coach on mechanics. Ā I also wonder how receptive Wentz is to coaching. Would love for McCown to step up and offer a critical eye when they review film.Ā

I take it Doug didn’t take much on Leach viewpoint from Harrell. As I am looking at the route spacing I don’t see the Leach approach (split the field so when the QB looks, he can see multiple WRs in a blink Ā

I think there was one NFL game where everyone kneeled for the opening kickoff except the kicker.Ā  I think that's what he suggested.

I interpreted it as they wanted to kneel like right before the actual kickoff

interesting. I'm glad they didn't. Did they even show the national anthem I don't remember seeing it?

That's cool with me. Not that anyone cares.

I have nothing but respect for Villanueva. Ā He is respectful of others’ positions and holds true to his own. Ā  Read about the guy he wrote on his helmet. Ā Sounds like he should have received the MoH.Ā

Based on an ageing team! That took its chance whilst we had our QB on his rookie deal.Ā

Just saying it took a Kirk cousins choke job and one of the worst divisions in football in the last decade to make them. They won a game when they got in to their credit. However wasn’t the phraseĀ howie used when coming back in 2016Ā that the eagles weren’t just building a team to make the playoffs but a roster that could win and sustain championship level. Kind of feels since 2017 each year we’ve regressed.Ā

For context, in the premier league they blew the opening whistle and everyone then took a knee. So not during the anthem

I think this is what the Eagles had in mind:

Not surprising given they haven't changed a lot and haven't replaced many of the older players with young guys.Ā

Oh i 100 percent agree. If anyone should be allowed to do what he is doing it’s him. He fought for our country and was deployed to AfghanistanĀ twice. I wasn’t against kneeling or players displaying for their cause. To me he has every right as they did as well. I find it ridiculous that people are ridiculing him. He went and fought for our country so my fat a** can watch football 3 days of the week.Ā
