Based on an ageing team! That took its chance whilst we had our QB on his rookie deal.

....that won us a Super Bowl

Man, I hope Kelce and Herbig are watching as much Aaron Donald film as possible this week.  You'd have to think Donald will be lined up over Herbig most snaps this Sunday.

"Let's keep the guys that just won a SB together for a couple years and try for another."

And that was a bad idea?

He’ll kill Seumalo just as easily

Before everyone freaks out about Peters, they had Mailata take a few reps at LT to manage Peters workload

It looked like they wanted to protest the second half as well, but Washington wasn't in for that either.

That's why Kelce will have to be there for double-teams on every play.  If he's left with single matchups he'll wreck the game worse than Young or Kerrigan did last Sunday.

I edited my post to address that

For context, in the premier league they blew the opening whistle and everyone then took a knee. So not during the anthem

Malik, Malik, Malik.  The only portion of police violence settlements paid by taxpayer funds is the deductible (more likely a self insured retention but only an insurance geek like me gets that) and insurance premium. NYC is self insured but I would bet the others have insurance. That’s like not asking Crump (the attorney representing most of the families) not to take his contingency fee, he made a cool four million yesterday.

If funds didn’t come from taxpayers, where are they coming from?  Cops aren’t getting paid like Fortune 500 CEOs.

Not a thoroughly thought out commentary by Jackson.

It’ll also help to actually have a running game.

In 2003, the Patriots were shutout by the Bills 31-0 in week 1.

The Pats won the SB a few months later.  The Bills went 6-10.

Forgot to add...the Pats beat the Bills in the season finale....31-0.

We are scheduled to play WFT in the season finale.

39 year old played a full game with knee bend so his knee is a little sore.

Stats of the 2018 game vs. the Rams. Adams and Smallwood were the lead backs. Nothing special there but they stuck with the run and put up 30 points. Foles didn’t even have a great game.

Even without Sanders, this team needs to ground and pound.

Oh even better! Glad I made that bet after the first post!

Eagles - 0 sacks allowed, 1 turnover

Rams - 2 sacks allowed, 3 turnovers

That helps too, obviously

It has nothing to do with screen wheel and flat. You totally missed the point - which was that play action didn't work because the Saints game plan was to ignore the run. Their focus in that game was to take away the passing game to Westbrook - which was mostly screens, wheels and flats. They left the middle of the defense wide open to runs - banking that the Eagles wouldn't take advantage of that void and they were correct - despite gashing the Saints on the few runs up the middle Andy Reid never exploited it. Any other coach would have adjusted by pounding the ball up the middle until the Saints adjusted to stop it AND then play action would have had an impact late in the game.

Again, play action is now overused which is why the data is misleading or wrong. The whole point of play action is to get LBers (And Safeties) to bite on the run fake. If every other pass play is a run fake - it's not really a fake.

I think you're missing the point which is the effectiveness of play action in the passing game isn't impacted by the effectiveness of the run.  So the plays that would need to be less effective would be play action passes.  In 2006, the Eagles lost to the Saints by the score of 27-24.  In that game, Westbrook had 16 carries for 72 yards.  The Eagles had the lead in the 4th quarter and lost on a last second field goal.  In 2007, the Eagles beat the Saints 38-23.  Westbrook had 100 yards in the game.  I think the game you meant was in 2009.  The Eagles got hammered 48-22. Kolb had 391 yards passing which hardly indicates the passing game wasn't working because of the defense not respecting the run.

They were a better team, but made enough mistakes to give us a chance.  Kinda like what we did on Sunday.

I didn’t get a mathematical degree but I’m guessing the odds say there’s less chances for a sack on 31 pass attempts then 50. Especially with a better oline then than now

As much as some people were surprised the Eagles lost to the team without a name, I've thought for a couple of years now that WASH is building a much better roster than the Giants.

That Derrius Guice pick has to be a kick in their collective nuts, but they've used their draft position to build a solid defense, and if Del Rio can get their secondary to be adequate it turns into a really good defense.  For the Howie bashers, it should be noted the Eagles had a chance to draft both Jonathan Allen and Montez Sweat and chose to leave them on the board.

One key mistake I believe they made was with Haskins; I haven't been impressed with him at all.  Alex Smith will likely help him some, but I suspect WASH will be in the QB draft market after this season -- next season at the latest.

I've been saying it for the last year.  Washington is building a defense that is going to be very good.  Now they have Del Rio and Rivera to boot.  Going to be a force.  If they can get a secondary built they could be scary good.  Now the offense has to catch up.

I don't really care where they end up ranking in total yards or yards per play this season. You're going to give up yards for the most part to a lot of teams in today's NFL. That's just how the rules are set up and skill position guys are as talented and deep as they've ever been (apparently not for the Eagles though). The biggest thing I care about are takeaways. Schwartz started off his first two years here ranking 10th in 2016 and 4th in 2017 in takeaways. And since then he's plummeted to 28th and 23rd in 2018 and 2019 respectively. And they didn't have any week one against WAS even though Sweat had a forced fumble. Maddox also dropped a pick that hit him in the hands.

Gotta get turnovers and flip the field to set your offense up in better scenarios. It's also why I don't give a crap about these pressures per play that people use to hype guys like Barnett up.
