Eagles Vs The Dog Pound.   Long History.   Browns lead the series overall but ironically, The Eagles are currently on a 5 Game Winning Steak.   The Last Time the Browns beat the Eagles was in 1994 in Philly.  The Last time the Browns beat Philly in Cleveland was all the way back in 1988.    Sadly with the way the year is going that stat doesn't make me happy.   We hadn't beaten the Bengals in Twenty Years and ended up Tying.   We were on a 8 game winning streak against the Gmen across 5 seasons and that snapped.   Well now we have a situation with a team we rarely play but again have beaten them across several decades.   I want the birds to bounce back and get their 4th Win on Sunday.  I want the guys to have that fight in Late Nov/Dec that we've seen the last 3 straight seasons.   We have to stop their run game and get in Bakers head.   A lot of people are writing us off these next 5 games because of their records but I think this is the perfect time for us to take flight and go into the playoffs hot.

Over/under rush attempts by the browns Sunday 38.5... i feel like i should take the over on this.

So, personally we agree but it doesn't matter since the f.o. and coaches don't. They'll say, "Hey, we're in first place!"

Strange thing... a lot of people focus on 'the Curse' that was on Philadelphia Sports franchises, and note that it started in 1983, with the building going higher than Billy Penn's hat.  But, there was another strange thing that happened right after the Sixers won that championship in 1983...

Sixers won the Championship in late May, 1983... and a few weeks later on July 14th, 1983, the first place Phillies, fired Pat Corrales as their manager because they were underperforming with him... the Wheez Kids were a mere 1 game over 0.500.  Paul Owens takes over as manager and they lose in the WS to the Orioles.  I believe the curse can be traced to that... and it was the Phillies, winning the World Series in 2008 (25 seasons, exactly after that season) lifted the curse that they started.  And in 2017/2018 the Eagles finally break through and win a Super Bowl.

Would this team clean house if they finish 'in first place', no matter how pathetic that first place record actually is?   And if they do, will it lead to another "Curse"?

Disclaimer:  This is all for fun... I don't believe in curses.  lol

He "can't"  isn't true, he can, but this year he struggles with almost every kind of pass. He hasn't been consistent.

This year? He's had issues throughout to be fair with accuracy and hitting guys in stride etc. He's fairly often missed on those swing plays and guys in the flat.

My site doesnt have the prop bets listed yet, but Im sure theres a few i like. For some reason Vegas/Betters give the Eagles respect.

I’m curious to see what mayfield’s over/under rushing yards is and total rush yards for the browns in this game. I’d speculate it’s probably going to be around mayfield’s rushing yards like 20.5 and total rushing yards 134.5

Hunt and Mayfields any time score will probably be +400 and +700 and i'll take both of them.

Rushing yards for the browns will end up mid 130's like you mentioned, I'll take that.

Austin Hooper reciving yards will be 27ish, i'll take the over all the way up to 40

I don’t know what Higgins any time score is but I’d take it cause even though landry plays the slot majority of the time I’m guessing we put slay on him. I like Higgins chances

Agreed.  But, that is the penalty if they don't get under the cap.  And it would be a harsh one for a team trying to rebuild.

The amazing thing is the way that Howie has structured some of these guys' contracts to lower the number in past years... Let me give you some examples.
You look at 2022, and there's $50M in cap space, but that's with only 29 players 'under contract'. (Marquise Goodwin is counted as well, but with no cap hit, so let's ignore him....)

Just a terrible situation.  Which of those guys is playing on the field near that level of money, and more importantly, will be TWO years from now?

Firing Howie would be justified for using the same strategy with ALL his players. Doing it with some? Sure. All? Insane.

We said it at the time.

Would it be foolish to break out a 5-2 defense for some plays against the Browns?

I can guarantee that the Browns have not prepared for it.

It takes a LB off the field and replaces said LB with a DT, the supposed strength of the defense.

It would help against the Brown's running game.

I would bring in Avery as the 5th DL, and just push Graham inside.  Avery will have a little extra fire to play his old team... and you don't lose anything in terms of speed by adding him in place of one of the LBs.

Its Jim Schwartz, need I say more?

Your getting the same 3 to 4 plays every snap that you have seen the last 4+ years. Get use to it.

I still keep seeing people talk about the cap. I think at this point we have to think the Eagles are just going to take the penalties for being over the cap. We know there is no way teams like the Eagles and Saints are going to get under the cap next year "IF" the league drops the cap to the lowest possible number. Now I dont think the league will go that low. I think they will work with the owners and come up with a number that all the teams can reach. The other teams wont mind cause they will get more cap to spend. However if somehow they get screwed they will just take the consequences of being over the cap with loss of draft pick(s) and a fine.

You can’t just take the consequences of being over the cap, you would be fined and lose draft picks until you were under. All while not being able to sign FA’s, rookies or UDFAs. Any person you try to sign would get automatically rejected by the league. They have to get under the cap, their isn’t any other option.

I'm fine with that TBH. It's basically a bear front to cover up the G-C-G. Of course, they're going to run max protect and take deep shots against CB #2 in that formation.

He can’t come off IR yet

Isn't he still on IR?

We’ll get an idea of how much power Doug has left to motivate and coach this team up during this stretch.  I’ve been hearing that he’s been uncharacteristicly snarky all week.  I’m sure most people feel the Eagles will lose these next 5 games to drop to 3-10-1.  We’ll see.

I posted my score prediction of CLE by 14, but in the NFL you never know

Whoops.  He's played so sparingly, I forgot he was hurt.

Yikes for SF.

Caplan said on his podcast that Lurie wants a passing offense so we will never run the ball enough. If that's true that's a major problem

Yeah, I don't believe that. How would Caplan know that and, didn't running the football effectively play a major part in us winning the SB?

I call BS.

They almost won a Super Bowl with him at QB — this really isn’t the problem people are trying to make it out to be.

Complete BS — the owner doesn’t presume to dictate offensive philosophy.  I doubt even Jerry would do that.  Just win — they don’t care how

Caplan... BS... ???    Weird.  He's always seemed like a guy who would never make stuff up to be relevant.

Well, back when Lurie bought the team, he was adamant about wanted a 'WCO'... so he hired Rhodes, who would bring in Gruden as OC.  Then he brought in Reid, who came from GB and ran a WCO.   But, then he brought in Chip... (who actually ran the ball a lot), and the WCO is no more, at least not in its purest form.  It has morphed and changed.

This is a passing league.  Teams can absolutely win by running the ball.  Any team worth its salt, really needs to have a competent running game, because that's how you ice games.  But, you can throw to set up the run, you can run to set up the pass.  Its really about doing what your personnel is best at.  If you have Derrick Henry, you lean on the run.  If you have a great QB, you lean on the pass.  If you have a bunch of guys rotating in and out of the lineup along the OL, with a QB who is struggling, with limited options outside to throw to... you, of course, throw the ball a lot.  It's common sense.
