Feels like Quinton Mikel was the last, and technically, he was undrafted, so in truth, the last developed safety who was drafted, is BDawk in 1996. Hard to believe you have to go back that far. I suppose Michael Lewis was decent, but he wasn’t a long main stay himself.

They haven't been terrible at drafting corners until the last couple years. They're more terrible at using the corners they draft like Douglas.

I really can't wait until schwartz is gone. Say whatever you want about holding x teams to y points, his defenses are ish. They constantly give up points after scoring drives, they don't produce turnovers, and they rarely adjust over the course of a game. Routinely gives teams free points playing sticks on our side of the 50, letting teams get into field goal range. He doesn't put players in a position to succeed, like putting Maddox outside instead of in the slot or using rasul in man coverage. There are games where the d line gets zero pressure even against subpar lines.

F Jim schwartz, like the rest of this organization riding a season where literally everything went right and has gone to ish every season since.

To add to the safety by penalty discussion, I believe any personal foul for unnecessary roughness, etc. would depend more on where the ball was at the moment of the infraction (in the case of a live ball), and only result in a safety if the penalty occurred while the ball was still behind the goal line.

So if Howard gets stuffed at the line will the people saying it was a good sign then pivot and say it was a bad one?

I’ve been of the notion that I feel like Sanders won’t be with the Eagles long term. Doug has always been RBBC since starting in 2016 and I can’t see them giving Sanders a big deal in the next couple years if that’s what he’s looking for. I think he’s trade bait this off-season or next.

Doug, Duce, and I think Stoutland are all part of the run game

I'm sure everyone has seen it but just watch Seattle and Arizona last night, KC and other good offenses. There are players running free in the secondary.

This is mostly due to scheme. Something the Eagles haven't figured out.

I dont know the answer, this is my of a question....

If Russ Wilson is in the end zone(live ball) about to throw the ball to Lockett  but DK decides to karate kick someone 30 yards down field it would result in a Safety?

I think if the spot of the foul for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is enforced from the spot of the prior down.  So it would be a 1/2 the distance penalty.

No Garrett is a BIG deal. We're winning on Sunday

Offense comes out slow

Defense cant stop the run

Carson plays hero ball and has a late turn over.

Browns win, everyone blames Wentz for the game and his 1 turn over but doesnt realize the offense was stagnate the entire game

The Eagles are going to play 8 in the box and dare Mayfield to beat us (he won't do it consistently).

On offense, without Garrett, the Browns just don't have the horses to own the LOS. With Garrett, we'd have to double-team him every snap. Now? We can just run our offense.

Playing 8 in the box is the right thing to do. What in the last 2 1/2 years tells you that Schwartz will do the right thing to do.

Schwartz loves playing 8 in the box. He'll do this against teams that don't even have a great run game.

The Browns' defense without Garrett is bad. The Browns can't win a 17-10 game against us.

I have no confidence in this team going into the game.  I think the defense could limit Cleveland but they looked terrible against the Giants.  I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland didn't run some of the same read option runs that the Giants killed the Eagles on last Sunday.  Offensively, I have no confidence in Doug, Wentz or the o-line.  I would like to be surprised and would enjoy a win but I just have seen nothing from this team that makes me think they can compete with good teams.

The Eagles play 8 in the box a lot. honestly the Eagles run defense is normally good under Jim with the exception of read option schemes. The problem is not going to be our defense giving up more then say 17-24 points. The problem is our offense wont keep up with our offensive scheme.

Pretty sure you were correct in your previous statement...even with a personal foul, the foul must occur in the end zone for it to be a safety.  If it occurs downfield, it would still be a 1/2 distance penalty, regardless of where the ball is at.   Nothing in the rules says otherwise.

Yup, no Myles Garrett is a big deal; that’s likely two less sacks and 4 less hits on Wentz.  Normally I’d be pretty excited about that, just like normally I’d be excited the Eagles might have more starters back in uniform this Sunday.

I’m gonna need some proof from this team during the game that this will make all the difference, though.  The Eagles haven’t beaten a team with a winning record all season.  Less than 5 pre-snap penalties this Sunday would be a nice start.

Cool Wentz gets sacked 6 times instead of 8

Doug is definitely throwing more and running less with Garrett out.

Pretty sad that we have to sit here and talk about players playing so well on other teams that Howie failed at acquiring which were positions of need where he took duds. Hopefully some of our players can actually do something exciting on the field to give us hope. But watching all these young receivers in the league really is so depressing and getting to be nauseating. Especially knowing we could had just about any one of them. If Jeff doesn't make a move at the end of the year then shame on him. Have fun being one of the worst teams in one of the worst division in football. Gold standard

Sucks that Mailata can't get the reps he needs

Agreed.  Loyalty to players is what created the mess this team is currently in.  Should have never extended Alshon, never brought back D Jax, and Peters should have been put out to pasture last year.

Doug said Alshon looks quick and fast in practice...

They should've put Jeffery on IR before the season started. Letting him play Sunday was dumb imo. Play the young guys and see what you have. Jeffery won't be on this team next year so why play him

Matt Campbell is like Matt Rhule. He'll get offers.

Same with Peters and DeSean.  We need to know if Rearor, Fulgham and Ward are the starters next year, and need Hightower and Watkins to get reps.

Need to know if Mailata can start if needed.  We need to know about the youth on this team, as they are going to be needed next year.
