Howie is a yo yo and the poor early returns of this year’s speed draft means we are getting all slow pokes with highly refined but unexplosive skill sets next year again.  So forget about the burners.  Hope that Reagor is a good one because he’s it for a while.

Who?  There's potential with Reagor and Fulgham but they haven't proven anything yet.  If the Eagles can add a stud WR, they darn well better.

Backup center to fill in for Embiid and give them up to about 10 quality minutes?   Yeah... that's a good move.  If they plan to play him with Embiid at all, then hard pass.

He'll need about 18-20 minutes a game to back up Joel through the regular season.

Oh yeah, I know.   I actually liked the potential that Norvel Pelle showed last year as a young developmental center.

I liked watching Pelle but he's a 27 year old g-league player.  not exactly young when it comes to the NBA.

Wow.

Purdue got totally screwed. That ref who called OPI definitely on Minn payroll. Absolutely jobbed.

Someone said yesterday that Metcalf is closest thing we’ve seen to Calvin Johnson.

bad take.

but had me thinking, has there been anyone that you could even compare to Johnson since he’s retired? I think the only answer is Julio honestly.

That's a little high for him every night.  I think Doc will use some small run and gun lineups while Joel is out as well.  On a given night he might hit 18, but for me, if its over 10, maybe 12... you are going to see greatly diminished returns.

Physically?  Never.  There’s never been a player who could run a 4.35 at 6’5 and 240 lbs

The QB needs some continuity around him — it was just him and Kelce for at least a couple of games.  As for his own performance, the coaches need to help him out in two ways; a more prolific running game, and get the ball out of his hands faster from snap to throw.

It’s not. I like Fulham and reagor’s upside but they’ve played 6 and 4 games with wentz. Reagor injury didn’t help with his development. Jeffery is basically done. Ward is ward. Have hightower who’s played 9 games in his career as a late round pick. That’s not enough to say we definitively have WRs.

I just looked up Julio’s combine. 4.34 at 6’3 220. You’re right, I thought they were closer. I’ll take that one back

WR is definitely a need long term, and short term tbh. It’s just a lower priority position now I think. I still think it’s on the table as a possible Eagles first round pick

I had a thread for him in IWTETG on the old boards. Then he stayed in school like a jerk.

Fulgham

Calvin Johnson is a unicorn. Metcalf isn't in the same universe as him.

Yay or nay?

He’s a better option off the bench at C than anything else they’ve had the last few seasons.

Some of this is on Carson, some is on the play calling and some has to be on the o-line as well but I posted some WR stats the other day.

-Reagor (granted he was hurt) had his 55 yard catch in week 1.  Since then his long is 16 yards.   12 catches 159 yards, 1 TD

-Hightower has 2 long catches, 59 and 50 yards.  Hasn't caught a ball since week 7.  His next longest catch is 13 yards.   9 catches 166 yards

-Fulgham cooled off last week.  I need to see him have a big game this week.       30 catches 443 yards, 4 TDs

-Ward is what he is, a reliable yet underwhelming slot WR.  He's the least of my concerns because we know what he is.    37 catches 282 yards, 4 TDs

-Watkins doesn't have a catch.

That is anything but a low priority in my book.  They need help.  Leading up to the year we heard how Howie finally invested in WR because he took 3 in the draft.  There's investing and there's investing wisely.  They could draft 4 running backs all built like Pumphrey and you can say that's investing in RB but they all will suck.  Hightower and Watkins were shots in the dark.  Hightower might develop in to a #4 WR down the road but he's done nothing for me to say WR is set.  DJack, Alshon, Hightower, Reagor and JJAW have all missed games and Watkins hasn't been able to provide a single stat.  Again, I'm not getting excited about him and he's probably a PS player next year.

In a perfect world the Eagles need to draft a #1 WR.  A bonafide stud.  Reagor is your #2.  Fulgham can be a big bodied slot guy where he can create mismatches.  Ward and Hightower are your depth guys.

Our WR minus Alshon and DJack have 88 catches for 1050 yards totals and 9 TDs.

To put that in perspective:

DeAndre Hopkins has 72 catches for 912 yards with 4 TDs

Stefon Diggs has 73 catches for 906 yards and 4 TDs

DK doesn't have the catch volume with 48 catches but he has 862 yards and 9 TDs.  DK has as many TDs as our 4 "promising" WR.

Justin Jefferson has 42 catches for 762 yards and 3 TDs

Terry McLaurin 57 catches for 787 yards and 3 TDs

Robby Anderson (who we should have signed) has 64 catches for 772 yards but only 1 TD

I know those are the top dog WR but just showcasing the total production of 5 WR compared to legit WR.  It's actually pathetic.

WR is absolutely 100% a priority.  The only thing is that Howie has done such a poor job constructing this team that there are numerous priorities.  If they continued to play Mailata, we might get a better idea of where OT and OL is in general but they want him to learn from the sidelines.

They need to draft a CB2 who can be CB1 in 2 years because Slay isn't a long term answer here.  So again, they probably should add 2 good corners.  I've seen enough of Maddox

TE2, OLB, MLB, DE, DT, RB, C, OG are all other remaining needs and you can say they are all priorities.  This team is in bad shape moving forward if you step back and look at the big picture.

Through 2 years, Metcalf will outproduce Megatron in every major statistical category.

And?

2007 - Johnson's rookie year, his QBs were: Jon Kitna, JT O'Sullivan and Dan Orlovsky
2008 - Johnson's 2nd year, his QB were: Daunte Culpepper, Drew Henson, Dan Orlovsky and Drew Stanton.

Remind me again, who is throwing the ball to Metcalf?

If we extend it 2 more seasons, Stafford only played in 13 games combined those two years, and it was backups the rest of the time.

Just counting stats without context is meaningless.

Those teams were garbage hence throwing all the time. Seattle is a run first team.

All I said was Metcalf is basically Megatron light. No, he’s not the level of freak CJ was but watching him play reminds me of him more so than any other WR has.

Glad I can create a two day debate though :)

Maybe not yet, but he has that kind of ceiling.

Now, who was more raw as a WR coming into the league?

I honestly am not sure. I would think DK would be the less developed but I could be wrong.

I’m not arguing that Metcalf is better....I’m just questioning the logic of how you can say they aren’t in the same universe when he has outproduced him at the same point in their careers.
