I think he has to fix Wentz. Benching him can’t be an option based solely on his contract.

the oline has to be fixed and we need wrs who can get opem earlier for wentz to "get fixed"   no qb will do well with what we have.

cetainly not a rookie

Its insane that every NFC East team would be picking in the top 10 of the draft if season ended today & we couldn’t put a divisional winner in the playoffs

Stefanski asked Mayfield to do almost nothing today and the Browns got a win.  Pederson continues to do nothing but ask Wentz to stand in the pocket and give the ball away 2-3 times every week.

Wentz is so broken that we basically needed to run and run and run until it was third and long. Doug definitely blew it by getting away from the run.

he didnt do mucj till garbage time when the defense started playing softer

now a good bit of that may be because the oline didnt give wentz any time

I don't think we've ever said that before... 😁

?

Do you really think Pederson hasn't designed (or called) plays that think will work with Wentz at QB?

What type of plays should he be calling, in your opinion?

It all needs to be fixed, but good QBs shouldn’t crater this badly. He should be better than this despite what’s around him. He’s dreadful.

The Eagles have no choice but to fix Wentz — but Doug isn’t smart enough to be the one to do it

Don't give Wentz fans an excuse.

By the way it is a bad excuse because it simply isn't true. Has the OL struggled? Absolutely. But Wentz is causing most issues.

I take back my statement. That's stupid so stupid to say when you're team is playing like this and your play calling has sucked

Maybe he does get fired

To be fair... he did blame both the players and the coaches.  He stopped short of blaming Howie.

But he should have.

The positive is the Eagles Organization is ending up in a position where it can't hide from it's own failings.  No, oh we made the playoffs with a winning record and bunch of scrubs at WR, let's gooooooooo, a little nip and tuck will do.

Nope, they suck and it's not close. Time to pay up those dues

Good news is it's realistic they lose out or only win one more at most. Sadly, this team needs that. Changes need to be made top to bottom.

yes and because the team will have a top 3 pick they need someone picking talent other then the little weasel howie

you watch mucj football? you see any qb playing well behind this oline?

seriously, with these wrs?

its one thing to suggest getting the ball out earlier, its another when you realize no one is open regularly, and when wentz does throw into tight windows, most times they drop the ball.

so he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

that kills your confidence

Only Wentz can fix Wentz right now. He's in his own head. He's playing so unnaturally. Everything is forced. He's suppressed his instincts. He's razzled.

Playing Hurts only makes sense if they think they should consider moving on from Wentz. I don’t see how that’s an option.

How is that not an option? How much more evidence and proof is needed?

If this team goes 1-5 down the stretch and misses the playoffs, we'll have a 4-11-1 record. That's picking around 10th. That's still in top-tier CB/WR/LB territory for prospects.

i'll say this, i feel so bad for kelce.  for the past few years, he was debating on retiring cause the sport is taking a toll on his body.  guy is a professional.  up there with celek for me.  i hope for his sake he does retire this year.  it'll be a long while before the eagles are winning org. again and he shouldn't be out there potentially ruining a life out of football for a team like what we have now.

That’s really pathetic. 5-11 almost always puts you in the top six. We can’t even bottom out correctly.

It’s a bad, bad year, but we can’t move on until 2022 anyway, so let’s try to fix him. We shouldn’t throw him in the dumpster.

They won't lose out.  I don't envy Lurie with this decision.  They are between a rock and a hard place.

The big 3 here are Howie, Doug, and Wentz.  If they fire and scape goat 1-2 of them in an effort to salvage the other 1-2, that's going to get messy.  This team is U-G-L-Y.  2021 is going to be bad.  Whomever gets left behind and survives the guillotine...they will be just as bad in 2021.  So then 2021 passes...and what, then you axe the other 2?  No new talent, same GM, and a new coach...this offense isn't suddenly going to be pretty next year.  So then you are up against the out opportunity in Wentz' contract.

Likewise, Doug/Hurts and this team with this level of talent...that's going to be ugly in 2021.  So then you are likely hiring a new coach to bring along your top 5 qb selection for 2022.

No matter how you slice it, they can scapegoat 1...but they've already ruined the others, who will just be gone the following year anyway.

It's sometimes quite surprising what a new coach can do with a team that looks like it has no talent.

I didn't watch the PC but did any of them ask Doug why he went away from the run yet again?

I’ve said this before — the ball needs to come out faster.

The Eagles said before the season started they were switching to a downfield passing game.  I welcomed that news like a lot of people did; I was hoping it meant a lot of the 2-yard pass plays were gone, as was trying to score TD drives of 16+ plays, like in 2018 and 2019.

The problem is, the OL has been a train wreck all season — there isn’t enough time consistently for the long developing plays to work.  Wentz 2020 looks like Andrew Luck 2015; the OL isn’t good enough to protect Wentz and he’s taking a beating, in addition to his own issues with inaccuracy.

5-step drop, get rid of it.  On time, on target, on script, on schedule.  If Wentz can’t or won’t do it, let him watch for a week and see if Hurts can.  Everyone is accountable; it doesn’t matter what their contract is.  The game planning on offense has been awful, the injuries have been crushing, Doug has never adjusted, and Wentz has played badly.

It all goes together, but isn’t as simple as "Wentz, bad player”
