It was a quick hit 10 yard accurate throw that the receiver caught and ran with.

The kind of quick thought and throw you don’t see from your QB.

Not quick at all, good play call though

Hurts and Fields seem kinda similar to me.  I don't want Fields unless you have a coach that will build an offense that caters to his strengths.

They have similar playing styles perhaps. But to me Fields is way better in the pocket and as such is a more conventional QB in that sense and that's why I think can be a top NFL QB.

He can be a top QB but not here under this current coach and his offense.

The best catches aren't contested.

Building an offense...no...even one full time position on offense...around the concept of a contested catch, which has a low success rate, is misguided.

It's one thing if you've got a true #1 who does it all well...otherwise, we don't need a 6'2" plodding WR who has to fight for every grab.

Maybe but some guys that's all they can do.

I wouldn't disagree with that. I mean look at how good Kyler Murray is right now but that's because he's being put in situations for him to succeed.

Or his players

Eagles Post game

Ray: Who is the best player on offense?

Mike: Miles Sanders

Ray: Then why do we see week in and week out Doug go away from the run game? He starts the game off well, 8 straight runs, goes right down the field and then goes away from it until there was no running plays called. Each week they seam to have success running but fail to stay committed to it.

Mike: Good question

Howie, who is all but dead to me as a GM, at least saw the error in his ways and tried to get guys who can separate on offense.

The coach still uses 12 personnel and chooses to use Alshon Jeffery, 0 rec through 2 games, over the younger WRs who move well....still designs plays at the LOS for Ward.

Sometimes it feels like Doug wants guys who can only make congested, contested plays.

To be fair... I get a lot wrong but I called it today. I said after that fumble had Doug would go away from the run game and by halftime the run game was pretty much finished with.

I really want to see Wentz get benched.  Not saying the struggles are all his fault but I just want to see if the offense looks any different under Hurts.

Oh me too bud. I want to see Hurts to see if there is anything there. With his play making ability he may be able to flash enough to show that if we get the scheme right around him he can succeed.

I don't think it's fumble related. Doug just doesn't stick with the run period.

I have very low expectations for Hurts.

But Wentz is getting worse every week.  He needs to take a step back.  The best chance of getting Wentz back is getting him away for a bit.  Add the benefit of evaluating Hurts...and I think it's a no brainer to turn it over to Hurts for 2 weeks.

I can only reiterate my comments from earlier in the week.  There is a coach with HC ambitions out there now, watching Eagles tape, being completely disgusted at what they are producing and thinking, yes, I can make that situation a whole lot better very quickly. It's all fixable.  Wentz isn't "broken". The OL requires some reconfiguration but it's not terminal.  The D needs some refinement.  One off-season of smart personnel moves in the NFC East is all it takes. We can win.  The team needs to buy in to that mission.

As an aside.  Ultimately, when bad play has no consequences, you got what you see now.

Jalen Reagor went 4 for 52 on 5 targets today. He made 2 very good catches, including one on 4th down. He was open on multiple plays that we could see on the TV cop.

But yes, let's blame the 1st round pick.

Hes been ok. Not a very good route runner. They keep running that comeback with him and he goes flat on the comeback. Almost impossible to use him as a deep threat with this oline. Id use him more on drags, slants, digs, slant outs maybe some mid level corners and posts. They are more simple to run. The comebacks are just getting too predictable and are a risk for ints when you go flat on them which he does. He is what I thought he would be, a project more for a few years with the right coaching.

I don't want that coach because he obviously would have poor judgement.

So Doug won't bench Wentz because it sends the wrong message to the team? That it says the season is over?

Shut up Doug you damn fool. Rolling Wentz out there sends the wrong message to the team. Is says bad play is tolerated. It says you can suck and you'll still play. It says way below average standards are OK here. If the franchise QB is allowed to be bad and keep his job then why should anyone else bother?

Sticking with Wentz also finishes your season Doug.

I know Wentz had the knee injury in 2017 but he's pretty much lost all his mobility which is part of what made him dangerous.

I think we all knew it was coming. Ill be honest, I wasnt expecting them to start off running like that which was nice to see. But I think we all knew Doug was going back to Doug by halftime. Thats whats sad, everyone sees it except for Doug.

Did we attempt a slant?

A jet sweep?

A reverse of any kind?

A flea flicker?

A wheel route?

I only recall one designed rollout. That alone is an affront to play calling.

I'm surprised there has not been a blowup on the sidelines.

That may be part of it. But then Wentz was always going to have to adapt and change his game if he wanted a long NFL career even before that injury.

I dont think he has lost it. We saw him running the first half of the season. Today he had some nice plays he moved out of the pocket and made a nice pass on the run. I think the play designs are just forcing him to not roll out. The instant pressure doesnt help.

Anything interesting from Doug's post-game?

Wentz always takes it like a champ in the press conferences; I'll give him that.

I'm curious to know what Doug's approach to the media was this afternoon.

I disagree.  You have 2 good TEs, enough parts at WR, a good RB, a Franchise QB that needs coaching, etc.  The current situation shows a lack of coaching and schematic focus; others teams have less talent and produce.  The Eagles problem is a lack of coaching nous and roster development.

The roster is imperfect, but it's not complete trash
