BTW... Can Joe Buck stop anointing players to the Hall of Fame?   Philip Rivers is a Hall of Famer now?   Not so sure about that.  0 Super Bowls.  Not a great record in playoff games overall.   Played in a little market without a big following.   These things matter... and frankly, he's been overrated for a long time. He's a stat accumulator... but I don't think he's a lock for the Hall.

I think the opposite, incredibly underrated QB.  I think he would have a ring or 2 if he had a competent coach the first 10 years of his career (LT and him are the only reason Turner lasted so long there).  He was the Manning killer in the playoffs IIRC, he just ran into Brady a lot.

Justin Herbert is so much fun to watch. He's been so impressive. Maybe I'm crazy, but he's a top 5 QB in the league right now imo. He slings it all over the field so easily. Wait until LAC get a more qualified head coach and that team is going to be very good.

I didn't know Kafka had that much say. Part of me also doesn't want any Reid disciples either. We went the college route and that backfired

It's not like Stafford never had weapons. He had Megatron. I don't think Stafford gets in

You just listed Stafford's only weapon, most of his career the rest of the 20 starters on the team were PS level players.

Ummm Marvin jones jr and golden tate might not be hall of famers but they were good WRs. Heck Golden tate had 3 1000 yard seasons in 4 years with Stafford. And one 1300 yard season. Add on golladay before he got hurt this year has been a very good wr.

I don't understand why people on this board dismiss this outright.

Wentz, like Mcnabb, got financial security and his game fell off a cliff. Didn't happen to Goff, Cousins or any number of other QBs.

I mean i think people just don't want to think that he's been given a big pay day, he's settled with a family and now he's lost that fire for the game.

Well... our fan base has been wrong before.   I was exceedingly happy when they signed him.  Much better option than Byrd.

In retrospect, for leadership he was a great signing.  He's was and still is a very streaky player.  That's why I wasn't too big of a fan of the signing.  He would give you about 4 or so great games a year, be non-existent half the season and have some really awful games as well.  2018 is an outlier though, from start to finish he was playing at an All-Pro level every game IMO.

I dunno...working pretty well in KC. Of course, with the WCO personnel is everything. As is playcalling.

Andy has drifted pretty far away from the WCO.

I unfortunately can’t quote it, but I stated my praises for Herbert on the old EMB and was actually worried the the WFT would take him, predicting the dolphins would move up for Tua at number 2.

Watching his college games, I didn’t see a lot of the negatives that were talked about with him. Dude has a seriously talented arm. Watching him compared to the other QBs, he was just on another level.

I believe I said it back then, but Herbert was right there with Burrow for me.

Which is why I said most of his career.  Tate and Jones are slightly above average players, so you're correct there though.

I thought his ball placement and accuracy was atrocious in college.  He made his WR's work really hard for catches.

This is like Hakeem Butler bad.

also a reminder, this is a faster, best shape of his life and more motivated than ever Alshon Jeffery.

But that was obvious D PI on that one play, right ?

He's never had accuracy. What he had though was the ability to extend plays with his size and his athleticism. But that athleticism isn't the same anymore due to the injuries and now teams know he's going to hold the ball and they can get to him and force the ball out.

This team may have the worst OLine in football.  JP was owned yesterday.  Lane is hurt again.  Pryor is horrible. Kelce is injured.  Meh.  You just don't see the pocket getting collapsed like this when watching other teams.

Any good teams with a worse OL then ours ? It snowballs from there, Howie obviously mis-invested or mis-allocated draft picks and/or salary cap there. I don’t like the pocket, either Carson not dropping back far enough or the OL is giving up too much territory. It looks a lot more hectic back there than I’m use to

Dillard and Brooks were huge, huge losses before the season even started.  Not saying Dillard would have been a Pro Bowl player, but the sequence of events in trying to replace him has been a comedy of errors and wasted money

Don’t forget the Lane fiasco. Brooks was known way back but Dillard in TC ? I still like Mailata alata and think that him, Seamulo, Kelce, JP and a healthy Lane would work. Sea and Lane missing time, Stoutland must not agree with my assessment of Mailata > JP

That’s a theory, how about that plus whether there would even be a season on top of that even though he is being paid to be prepared no matter what. A QB guru and fix the OL next season

That's making an excuse for him though. He's flat out bad. He needs to be benched and this team should, in my opinion, move on from him.

I think people believe that because he was able to move up to get Carson Wentz that he would be able to do it again. I think the more we get away from the draft there was a lot of teams who weren’t overly thrilled with Jared Goff or Carson Wentz as prospects. Like too much risk to move up to get one and too much risk taking them in the positions that they were going to go. So for the Eagles it was much more doable to move up in the draft when you had two guys that a lot of teams might not have seen as potential franchise game changing quarterbacks. Trevor Lawrence imo is a much better prospect coming out of college than either wentz or Goff in that draft.

I don’t follow college myself, but I do recall after moving from 13 to 8, and prior to going to #2, there were a few on here who suggested going to 2 for Wentz and a good number of folks saying that would be a bad idea as neither were worth the cost of moving up.

I hate Doug's statement on benching wentz and "sending the wrong message". You don't have to bench him for the entire game, IIRC Reid pulled McNabb out of that game at halftime and he started the next week. Besides the seaso IS over. Your team is playing like dog ish week in and week out and it's about to get a lot worse over the next 3 weeks. If we hold any of the next 3 teams under 30 points I would be Fing shocked. And if we score more then 20 outside of garbage time I'd be even more shocked.

This team sucks. The media knows it, the fans know it, and it's beyond annoying to hear them talk like they're a good team who just needs to turn it around.

It's a flawed statement anyway. How is it sending the wrong message to the team? How is it saying that the season is over if you bench Wentz?

The team are 3-6-1! This is a bad football team who are only in with a chance of the play offs because the division sucks. And as of Thursday it is very very likely that this team will no longer be in number 1 position in the divison.

Wentz sucks, has sucked all year. Surely the players don't really care who is starting as long as it gives the team the best chance to win? Well guess what... Wentz isn't giving this team the best chance of winning. Keeping Wentz in there is sending the wrong message for every single reason imaginable.

It is abundantly clear that you hate Wentz.  Your 1000 repeating  posts show that.  You are so clear on this that you are willing to invest 25% or more of our cap in the future to the dead cap hit versus trying to figure it out.  Sound about right?

I don't think you will find any teams that would be functional behind this line.  No offense is designed to work behind an OLine that whiffs constantly or behind a left tackle that constantly gets instantly deposited at the QB.

I think Wentz is a bad QB yes. So hang on... What's the alternative here? Let him continue to play just because he accounts for 25% of the cap? Let him continue to suck and hurt the team?

Not that he was wide open or anything, but it’s 1-on-1 with a 6-5 TE vs a 5-10 backup S. Lots of space to put the ball.

Agree that is on Carson
