The nfc winner feels like it changes from week to week. If you would’ve asked me during the eagles bye week, I’d have said the eagles likely win this crap division. After the giants game, looking at the giants schedule i would’ve said the giants have a chance of getting to 5-6 wins and winning this division. After yesterday, if dallas manages to beat Washington on Thursday i would consider them the favorite. Their schedule sets up for them to get to at least 6 wins. They are fortunate to play the bengals without burrow. That should be a win as the bengals without burrow might be in jets territory. Then they face the eagles and giants back to back weeks. If dalton plays like he did today or just average tend to think they win one of those two games.

Yep, it's shocking.  Fulgham played 96% of the snaps and I can only think of 2-3 targets.

I think that irritates me with fulgham is The Eagles refuse to get him involved in the offense until like the end of third quarter. Last two weeks he had two targets in the first half of both of the games. And this was an issue even going back to the Dallas game they didn’t look to him until midway through the third-quarter. I don’t know what he has to do for the Eagles to try to get him involved early in the game. over the last five games the Eagles have scored on average four points in the first half so you would think the guy who was having success you want get involved in the offense early in the game. Instead we don’t.

Lurie held Groh and Walch and the medical team responsible last year.

I think Lurie shoulders a lot of responsibility for the mess of our offense. They forced an outside "fresh” voice on Doug and it seems like it’s done nothing but short circuit Doug and Wentz.

I hope Lurie does some serious soul searching.

Totally agree

Honestly the more I think about this, I think Lurie can go 1 of 2 ways:

He can either clear house and let a new coach start from scratch and build his own staff (including DC)

Or he can clear out everyone except for whoever Doug wants.  Give Doug one chance to get this right and do it his way.  If it fails again, then you know Doug is part of the problem

For all of my criticisms of Doug, its still really not fair to him to have helpers thrust into his lap and have to deal with a weird power dynamic, including Schwartz.

I think theres a 0% chance Howie goes but he'd be on the clock next.

Yep, that's my fear.  Or even worse, promoting Duce from within.  We need all new energy, a different mentality and I fear Duce and Bienemy would just continue down the path we currently are on.  I want a football guy at GM, not a cap guru who can't even manage the cap anymore.

Lurie is going to lose this fanbase if he doesn't make a drastic move.

Lol no he isn't. He should make moves, but don't be silly.

I've been a Greg Ward supporter since last year.  I do like him as a slot WR.  He proved he can be reliable there.  However, he should never be the #1 option but it seems like the Eagles are designing plays for him, WR screens for some odd reason.  Why the Eagles pick their slowest WR for screens blows my mind.  In the past they used Alshon.  Now they are using Ward.

3 catches for 9 yards.  I can't even defend that.  Those plays need to be for Reagor.

Also, why did Hightower only play 1 snap?  You needed speed, you went out and got speed and you don't even use it.

I hate this team so much.

Lurie has to make a change.  If not both, then one or the other of DP or Howie has to go.  They just can't stand pat with the direction this organization is going.  They have NO money to sign any FA.  We have this team next year plus some draft picks.  They aren't going to magically turn in to 11-5, 10-6 or even 8-8.

For starters, Washington and NYG are both young, improving football teams with new coaching staffs.  The Eagles will be going into the offseason as the 3rd or 4th worst team in the East.  Washington has to figure out quarterback but all they need is an average player and they will be better next year.  Maybe they go after Dak.  NYG have youth, energy, get Saquon back and will continue to get better under JJ.

The Eagles and Cowboys will be fighting for the bottom spot.  Dallas has huge decisions to make starting with Dak.  I'd say they are in a better position than the Eagles due to his injury.  They aren't tied down to anyone at QB. They can probably bring him  back at a discounted/short term contract if they wanted or they can go after a guy they really think is the QB of the future.  Do you think they could package Amari Cooper, their 1st and some other assets to get to #1 for Trevor Lawrence?  They also have $33 million in cap space so they have flexibility to bring in FA.

That brings us to the Eagles who are $60 million in the hole.  They have the worst QB in the NFL who has a $59 million cap hit next year.  They are going to be shedding salaries just to get under the cap.  They will have new starters potentially at LT, C, RG, WR, CB2, DT2, DE2, MLB, OLB, S.  The problem is, the new starters are already on this team or potential draft picks (no faith Howie can draft).  So we know what this team is going to be next year.

Is this roster going under the same coaching going to suddenly be better?  Is Howie going to make the right draft picks to possibly start?  Is Wentz going to suddenly not be the quarterback who has over 100 turnovers in just 60+ games?

QB- Wentz    RB- Sanders   TE- Goedert   WR1- Fulgham   WR2- Reagor   Slot- Ward    LT- Dillard    LG- Herbig/rookie?   C- Seumalo    RG- Brooks/Herbig?    RT- Johnson

DE1- BG    DT- Cox    DT- Hargrave    DE2- Sweat/R    OLB- Singleton/Bradley/R   MLB- Edwards    OLB- Taylor/R    CB1- Slay    CB2- R    Slot- LeBlanc/Maddox   S- McLeod    S- Wallace/R

I have NO faith in this team from Lurie on down.  Lurie doesn't have the sack to make a big move to bring about changes.  Howie can't draft t save his life and his roster management is atrocious.  DP is a lost head coach.  Everything about him right now is bad.  I don't see one positive from his coaching.

Wait, what? I thought he only counts $35 million or so against the cap?

I’m assuming he means to trade or release him it’s 59 mil in dead money

Correct, sorry if it was confusing how I worded it.

Very well said.  I completely agree with your assessment of the Eagles, as well as that Lurie won’t make the changes necessary.  With Howie Rosemam firmly entrenched as unaccountable forever GM, I’m expecting the Eagles to have excellent draft position for once and utterly squander it.  I’ll always love Doug, but it’s hard to see any positive in what he is doing right now.  The staff construction this past offseason was transparently reactionary and makes no sense.

It’s time now to stop worrying about everyone’s feelings and sensibilities - coaches, front office, and players - and start doing what is best for the team.  I hope Lurie. Am eventually find some big boy pants.  I’m not holding my breath though.

One other note - no team is trading the rights to Lawrence for any package of picks/players, he is a rare prospect.  Jets would be very smart to mandate losses for the remainder of the year.

He does. $59M is his dead money if he gets cut.

Jason Kelce - "This is so F*****ing stupid after his injury... Play calling? Him playing one more year?

No Kelce slander in this blog. If all our players were as tough/good as Kelce, we wouldn't be in this mess.

I just pray they don't go the predictable route and just offer another Kansas OC in Bieniemy the keys to the kingdom after watching Doug flame out.  Also at this point  this may not be a quick fix, I'd love to see a Chip Kelly style 4-12 to 10-6 style flip but this roster doesn't look likely to do that at all, we might have to accept a couple of years of this to get us back on track, they'd need to do their due diligence and make a considered choice.

So if they do that and it results in another Super Bowl win I'll take it.

Given how bad this year has been, and the injuries he's suffered, Kelce is likely to retire. He has a ring. He's an all-time Eagle who might make the HOF. Can't blame him.

This wasnt a negative shot towards Kelce.

I'm curious to who/what that was towards.

Sitting with my buddy I thought he was sick of the bullsh!t play calls. My buddy thought it was because he wants/wanted to retire and hes asking himself why he's putting himself threw it

I’m guessing it’s more about the medical staff probably not letting him go back on the field to get through the first half and playing through it without the brace until halftime.

Yeah I don't get the Hightower thing either. I don't even know why he was active if he was only going to play one snap. Also Greg Ward should never be returning punts. He has no feel for whether or not the ball is going to bounce into the end zone. I understand every now and then you will miscalculate or get a bad bounce but it is happening multiple times per game. With an offense as **** as ours is they can't afford to lose field position due to stupid mistakes.

Yeah that’s kind of my feeling. I think if the Eagles were closer to another Super Bowl that he would want to stay because I think he still can play at a high level for the next two years. I can see him walking away at the end of the season.

Sorry but Doug is part of the issue and not a solution at this point. On a side note I have to wonder what happens in meetings when they are breaking down film. Do the coaches actually talk to these players about how they are playing? Is there ever any danger of the coaches saying "you know what player x this play is unacceptable and you are not going to start next week"? I mean the whole damn team every week at almost every position conspires to do just enough bad stuff to lose us games. Carson double clutches on open receivers, fumbles and throws picks, Sanders fumbles during a very promising drive, Alshon won't try and high point a ball, ward doesn't sit down in a zone and every week screws up a decision on a punt return, oline misses blocks. Cornerbacks can't cover. About the only part of this team that plays well is the d line but they constantly jump off sides.

Maybe, but I think he'll stay and play if he feels he can. I mean everyone likes another couple of million in their bank account. That said did anyone notice if the rookie center played okay?

He mouthed it before he really had a conversation with the staff. This was before he got to the sideline basically.

He was on the sideline and they had a staffer walking down the sideline with him and no helmet. I’m guessing so he couldn’t go back into the game as the eagles were preventing him from doing so.

Kelce's 2020 salary is 5.5M (non guaranteed). He's made 42M in his career. It's a tough call.

Kelce retiring also gives us an extra 5M in cap space for 2021.

I would guess that Jason was commenting on the injury itself.

I mean I wouldn't die on a "Kelce isn't retiring hill" but 5.5 Mil is a nice little incentive to stay.

Gives you 5 mil in space and really big hole at center.

Yup, but we're not competing in 2021 anyway, so might as well take all our lumps next year for the rebuild.

1) the Defense gave up points on every drive after the eagles scored(whens the last time we got a 3 and out when we needed it)

2) Malik Jackson(someone who I loved) BLOWS

3) 77 yards in the first drive... 1/4 of all the offense came on the scripted plays...

Not just Malik Jackson but Javon Hargrave too. He has played 364 snaps and has 7 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks and 5 pressures. He's due to make over $15 million the next two seasons. Hopefully they can find a trade partner this coming offseason.
