I'm not going back 50 pages in here so I'm sure you've discussed this at length but I'll throw my hat in the ring.  I'm a long time Peters big fan but his time at LT is over.  He should not be taking another snap at LT (unless there is on one else).  He might be used at one of the Guard positions perhaps or better yet just have him retire.

Either because of greed, sentimentality or plain stupidity Peters is damaging his own formerly outstanding legacy. But he doesn't seem to care.

You realize we likely have only Issac healthy on Oline right? We probably don't even have Kelce anymore. What in the hell makes you think we're a QB away from winning games when we don't even have half of the starters playing?? Even if we have Kelce still with a cast on his arm we only have 2/5 players

It's amazing the blind hate you people have

I never said that.  I said we don't know or won't know unless we start Hurts and see what the offense looks like with a different QB, despite all the current issues.  If the offense looks better, etc then we go from there.

We have no Oline to block for a new QB. How are you not getting that?

Doug would rather work himself to death than hurt somebody's feelings.

The offensive line isn't 100% no one is debating that.  I'm not concerned so much about when the pocket collapses and Wentz has no time to throw.  I'm concerned about every other play when he does have decent time to throw and doesn't get the job done.

And there's one way to find out.

If Wentz isn't the issue why are you so concerned about potentially starting Hurts?  If Hurts doesn't get the job done then the rest of your points could have merit.  I would think someone with your opinion would want Hurts to start just so you could say, "I told you so" if he doesn't get the job done, no?

I don't know and I don't care to speculate. I do think Doug goes too long with the vets for what amounts to sentimentality. That said, Peters was dreadful. Three sacks, three tackles for loss, and three QB hits. No excuse to run him out there next week.

Go to the Gamebook and work it out.https://www.nflgsis.com/2020/REG/11/58319/Gamebook.pdf

Never said Wentz isn't an issue. He's playing like crap but there's so many other things wrong that changing the QB isn't going to magically solve the problem. This fanbase and the obsession with the backup is just sad

The 2008 McNabb situation and this year are totally different

Benching the QB just to give the neanderthal portion of the fan base their pound of flesh would only prove just how poor of a coaching job Doug and his staff have done.

Not only is it a bad idea for the team, its a bad idea for Doug

Question

What in your mind tells you that a guy who abandons the run ever chance he gets will now stick with it?

What in your mind tells you that Doug will learn more than the same 8 plays hes used for 2.5 years?

None of that matters if the offense looks better with Hurts.  In this offense IT ALL STARTS WITH THE QB.  Everything is predicated on the QB performing at a high level or at the very least, not making costly mistakes and/or turnovers.

Like I said, there's one way to find out.

And when Hurts inevitably throws the ball to the other team or gets injured, what then?

He'll run around and maybe make a first down or two and youll say "yaaay we are saved, SB here we come!"...then it will go south

Wentz will be the QB in 2021.  Its just a fact. The Eagles guaranteed that fact.

Wentz has been given a longer leash than probably any other player in Eagles franchise history.  The entire "fanbase wants the backup" story is a fabrication when it comes to Wentz.  The team, the fanbase, the media literally picked Wentz over the guy that won them the first Super Bowl in Philadelphia history.

It took 5 years for the fans and the media to want to see what a new QB looks like in this offense.  FIVE YEARS.

The Eagles have never beat Russell Wilson. They like to throw and have a mobile QB.
They play basic coverages and dare the QB to be "perfect" up and down the field by avoiding big plays.

This line should be 7 at least.

Absolutely shocking to me... what team are they watching?  Eagles +4?  Are they trying to give money away?

I know Seattle's defense has had some issues, but with the way they score and how bad the Eagles are I would think it would be Seattle - 9 or -10...

Well, then we have nothing to lose.  So you're on board with seeing what Hurts looks like in this offense.  Good.

For those harping on the offensive line, which is a fair criticism given how inconsistent it's been this season, there is also this. Wentz has statistically been just about the worst quarterback in the league this year in every scenario.

The "told you so's" cant come loud enough and quick enough from me.

Congrats. You were wrong for so long but finally are right. Enjoy it.

No theres a lot to lose.  Youre just not willing to accept that there are huge problems with the entire organization

It was the same in the McNabb years.  Hence the EMB joke "I blame McNabb".

Its much easier mentally for people to fool themselves into thinking "if we just changed this one thing then our problems are solved"....the reality is that this problem is bigger than Wentz.

Why not just quote me? It's not like I said the Oline is the only problem. There's so many problems with this team that just plugging in a new QB isn't going to magically have us win games

There's an 'order of progression' when it comes to these things, especially in this system.  The first thing you do is see what another QB looks like in the same system, with all the current issues....and you go from there.

Thoughts based on yesterday's game...

-- Carson's 2017 was Mike Vick's 2010. If you want to limp with Carson for the next 2 years due to his albatross contract, you gotta find another offensive coaching staff.

-- Doug should hand over the offense. Not only is it not working, but it is completely and utterly hopeless, and he is not making any changes (coaching, benching Carson, etc.) to help. He's in over his head right now. Lurie needs to step in.

-- I would hold off on blasting Reagor, Goedert, and Sanders (as a receiver) right now. Yes, they've made some mistakes and need to improve in some areas. But my goodness, they are playing with a bottom 3 NFL QB right now. All 3 can play, but they'll never reach their potential or even look like consistent players until the QB spot is stable.

-- If Schwartz/Flajole play Gerry over Singleton again, launch them into the sun.

-- Jalen Mills isn't good, but he's better at outside CB than Maddox. Keep him there.

For those of us who want to tank (most of us?), keeping Wentz over Hurts is the way to go. It's not going to get better.

Frankly, I also don't want to expose Hurts to this mess.

In Howie's defense (last time you'll hear me use those words), some of the contracts are not necessarily bad decisions, but just turned bad.  The Cox extension needed to be done, but it's officially a bad contract now.  The Wentz extension was not unreasonable, but again, that's a horrible contract now.  Lane Johnson...good decision, but we've entered the bad years and his contract is another liability.

Alshon, Malik Jackson, Brandon Brooks, Desean Jackson...yes, already Hargrave...all horrible decisions.

The real concern now is that Howie will kick the can further down the road to 2023 and beyond with restructuring some of these deals.  Some of these guys can still play...but that is overshadowed by their contracts.  ALL OF THESE CONTRACTS need to wash off the books.  All of them.  They won't have the flexibility to rebuild until that happens.

Im right there with ya man, turned 50 last year. Was screwing around with my dog a couple months ago and decided to jump flat footed into the back of my pickup truck (tailgate down) ... You know because he can do it ... figured no problem ... so needless to say that didn’t go as well as planned ... welts and bruises on both shins 😂😂

The’ll be no more jumping.

Im 52 with a lot of miles and still working electrical.  I cant crawl attics anymore.  And i do not jump in and out of the back of the truck anymore.   Cant afford to have a knee or ankle injury

This is clear as day. When I saw "14 QB pressures" on the broadcast yesterday, I lost my crap. What other QB in the league got 4 Pro Bowl caliber OL for the first 3-4 years of their career like Carson did?
