So basically we don’t scheme to the personnel we have and just choose plays from the playbook and just expect them to work. Nope not try to scheme and utilize their strengths of the personnel they have. It is the same offense that cannot adapt or adjust to their personal for 3/4ths of the season over the last 3 years. if people watch all 22 of some other teams around the league then watch ours it’s mind boggling how different it looks with how they run their offense and get the ball into playmakers hands. And how creative they are pre-snap and in the design of the play to get guys open.

It's simple. It's because he's in over his head as a HC. He just simply doesn't know how to do the job. Take the smartest poster on EMB and stick him or her in there and you'd probably get a similar result.

I guess the bright spot is that we're not the Lions, easily the worst team in the league right now with Patricia, another HC deeply out of his depth. I mean, they just got shutout by a QB from the defunct football league AFL(?).

Yep JJ would sometimes drop a DT into a slant route area as a wrinkle.

Yep.

I miss JJ. Guy was an amazing DC.

I'd rather he learn on the job than watch Gerry.  Gerry is maxed out at not good enough.  Maybe Taylor's athleticism offers a higher ceiling.

Agree, it's time to get our young guys some meaningful reps. Taylor, Mailata, the 13 WRs we drafted this year, Wallace -- they should all be seeing extended reps now.

I still think the jets, bengals without burrow and jags are worse than the lions. Have to remember the lions were without golladay and Swift who had been coming on as of late. That’s basically their two best playmakers gone.

Generic Jim isn’t in the same league.

so they need more emotional intelligence? Or just intelligence now?

Both....  But it starts with intelligence.  Or just not being dumb

I think Nate Gerry is Taylors ceiling.  I just don't see it.  OK, he's fast.  You know who else was fast.  Ernie Sims.  If they didn't just take Hurts in the 2nd, Taylor would be the Eagles worst draft pick by a landslide.

The only thing he's done this year is take a good angle to push Lamar Jackson out of bounds 20 yards down field.

This is how bad it is for us.  We are hoping a linebacker, who just graded out at a 25 (that's bad) can learn how to play.  I'd rather have a linebacker who isn't an athletic freak but knows how to play the position from day 1.

I'm so sick of this team trying think they can coach guys up when they prove week in and week out that they can't.  The only guy who I want out there working through growing pains is Mailata and they refuse to.  This team, this staff, everything about them is infuriating.

I think the crazy has rubbed off on Stoutland.

That's fine, we don't have the LB you described.  So, play Taylor over Gerry anyway.  Play Driscoll.  Play Mailata.  Play Wallace.

Doug announces Peters remains the starting LT.

This team right now can’t do anything right. Even the smallest decisions. They’ve become an abomination in every regard. They’re so full of themselves it’s embarrassing.

Doug said he needs to get Alshon in the game more, lol

OK, I got home from work a little while ago and have been trying to catch up here so I'm not yet current.  If Doug really made these 2 statements then he needs to be fired right now.  Unfortunately, I have no confidence in either Howie or Lurie at this point either.  With these 2 statements it's clear Doug is lost and absolutely clueless.

I'll be shocked if the Seahawks don't beat us by 30+ points Monday night.  Maybe that's what's needed to wake Lurie the F up, a prime time spotlight beat down.

Funny part is that Kist seems to be posting on this blog.  No one has exonerated Wentz' poor play.  Wentz' poor play falls right in line with the issues with Reagor, Mailata, etc.  The coaches are not putting their players in a position to make their best plays.  Wentz does well on roll-outs... so they incorporate just one into the game.  Wentz does well with a running game he can count on... so they give up on the run.  Reagor should get the ball in space, so they throw the ball to Ward on flanker screens.  I mean, its like they are trying to be terrible.

Kist is an enormous D-Bag.  I wonder if other cities have to deal with complete tools as beat writers.

what is he then?  I don't know what qualifies guys anymore.  Is he just a blogger?

I heard today that Wentz leads the NFL in both fumbles and interceptions. That’s hard to do. Even Jameis Winston thinks that’s embarrassing.

More from Caplan:

Talking to people around the league who study tape say Doug insists his WRs beat man coverage instead of scheming them open and it’s killing the passing game.

People who study the Eagles in film said their schemes and route concepts are exactly the same as last season even with new assistants. Indicates this is more on Doug because he has veto power for the offense.

Thinks it’s embarrassing with the excuses in press conferences lately and needs to show more accountability.

thinks he might just be losing the team here.

Making great use of our passing game coordinator and passing game analyst right there.

The Seattle Seahawks are 32nd in the NFL for pass defense, and it's by a lot.

If Carson and Doug can't find a ton of success against this crappy defense, then bench Wentz, take play calling & game planning away from Doug, fire Howie and start the GM search, and let the new GM make the call on everything else in the off season.

That's where I'm at with this debacle.

If our O (especially the passing game) can't do well vs both the putrid Cowgirls and SEA passing Ds then every O coach involved in the passing game should be fired and Doug should be stripped of play calling.  That would basically leave Stoutland and Duce and the latter would end being the play caller on game days for the rest of the season.

Two (close to) historically bad passing Ds and if our O looks pedestrian vs both of them then you have to clean house.  Then burn the house down and rebuild it.

Beat writers/reporters actually show up to practices and games on a regular basis. He’s a podcaster/blogger.

He’s a good follow IMO, but I see where you’re coming from. He’s not for everyone.

I forget the exact stat but it's something like 104 turnovers in 65 games?  Give or take a T0 or game.

He absolutely said and meant the first one about JP.

The second one I think was just coach speak. Someone asked the hilarious question of "Why is Alshon Jeffery even on this team?" which definitely took him by surprise. Then he went into coach mode and said he needs to do a better job of getting Alshon involved more, and he also has to do a better job of getting Fulgham involved more, and Hightower involved more.
