If Wentz wasn’t collapsing like a dying star, he would be a logical restructure to open a bunch of cap space. That’s not really a good option at the moment, even if we might have to bite the bullet.

Everything about this team stinks. I cannot believe we’re at this depth of hell.

Wentz is only accelerating into the big money years of his contract now.  He'd be walking away from a lot of money...

It would have to be that the concussions worry him or his wife

Also, this is some BS if they let Lamar play

And they need to fire that S&C coach for all this nonsense.

I previously agreed completely, but after looking up the numbers, Lane is untradeable.

He's on the books for $17.85m next year.  Trade him during the offseason and his number (for us) balloons to $29.4m....so of the untold millions of cap space we need to clear, we'd be losing another ~11.6m by trading him.  Trade him after 6/1 and you get the full >$17m hit we'd have had if we just kept him...and the cherry on top for us would be $21.3m of dead cap in 2022.

If we want the cap savings to > the dead cap, he can't be traded until 2025.  He's going to have prosthetic limbs by then.  Just outstanding cap work Howie.  Truly outstanding.

That's not 100% true.   I pointed out earlier, if he's traded POST-June 1, they'd save about $9.7M for 2021, but have that big hit in 2022 (about $21.5M, iirc).

Question for those that understand how the cap works: if Wentz did announce a surprise early retirement this off-season, how does that work cap wise?

Guaranteed salary would come off the books.  Pro-rated signing bonus would either have to be repaid by Wentz and that would come off the books as well, or the leftover signing bonus would hit the cap as one number. If he did it after June 1st, then 2021 would still be the prorated value for 2021, but the rest would hit in 2022.

Go Cowboys. They extra time to get healthy for the vulnerable Ravens

Something tells me he got his dates wrong.  Thursday, Dec 3rd makes more sense than Nov. 3rd.

So there will be no Thursday night game that week. That's a win

This week, as Dallas always gets their Thursday night game the Thursday after Thanksgiving... every... single.... year.

Ten days and a negative test qualifies removal from the Covid list.

Or he gets broken with Matt Pryor and Jason Peters on the right side of his OL.  The good news, I guess, is that he'll see it coming... or maybe that's worse.   I don't know.

Bottom line is if you fix or replace the QB, you change the outlook for this team. This idea that the Eagles are hopelessly untalented is misguided.

You think this team is just a QB away from winning games?

I believe it would be a major cap hit for 2021 ($59M), but after we would be free.

If he retired he would be voiding all guarantees. Only thing the team would be on the hook for is his signing bonus and the team would be able to go after a prorated portion of it if they chose to. At worst it would be like a $10M cap hit.

I 100% disagree. We are not beating Dallas.

No we are not, Dnucci is the worst nfl "pro” I have ever seen and the game was close

We never want our team to lose it hurts a lot but in 2 months from now when we have the 19th pick because we were bounced out in 1st round you will see these same people saying we should have lost more.

That is the reality we have right now, it is a paradox honestly. Losing makes us winners.

Not 1 fan that wants to get into the playoffs will say this.  You're grasping at your own narrative.

Well, when you have the 32nd QB out of 32, it's pretty reasonable to assume that even a QB somewhere in the 20s would win this team more games.

Eh? My own Narrative?  I am only commenting on people I know personally and a few on this board I talk to often.

There are people who want say win as much as we can to get into playoffs...bounce in first round and say OMG WE SHOULD HAVE LOST! or they will cry about having howie and doug still here.

Changes doesn't happen till we start to lose. Losing gives us a better future not winning.

You realize any QB needs an Oline?

I know the player doesn't get the money, but I had read that the dead cap would still be on the books. I guess not.

Then take it up with them.  No one else cares.

They historically draft well in the top half of the draft.

and yet, i can list a crapload of complete busts in the 1st and 2nd rds.

Ok? You can't do that for the eagles drafting in the top half of the first round for the past probably 5 times they've been in that position.

Sure is.  And others can voice their opinion on your comments.  That's how it works.

I will say this... sitting in the top 10 helps with fixing the offense.
