I think the problem with him is injuries and missing games.  But if he goes elsewhere I'm sure he'll end up never missing games.

Agreed, staying on the field has been his biggest issue here.

Sadly, that's probably accurate.

I disagree about Doug getting another HC job.  Maybe as an OC but dont think a head coaching job.  With how great Wentz looked in 2017 and he has regressed since that doesn't look good.  Doug runs the offense and it really hasnt looked good since 2017.  I think people around the league have noticed this.  There were reports not that long ago that many around the league think he's in way over his head as a coach.  I dont see him getting another opportunity.  At least not right away.

Possibly follow the Rich Kotite template and go to work with the Jets, but yes -- hard to picture Doug being on the 'A' list of eligible coaching candidates

Maybe the Jets would hire Doug.  That's about it.

Detroit would hire doug

Paul Domowitch wrote what has seemed obvious to me from the outside.

"There are people both inside and outside of the organization who have told me [Doug Pederson] wouldn’t be totally unhappy if he ends up getting fired. He won’t have any trouble getting another head job. He might have more say over personnel someplace else."

I just don't see how all 3 of Wentz, Pederson, and Howie can be here next season.

Ive felt for a while that one of doug, wentz or howie wouldn’t be back here at the end of 2021. I thought the likely one would be doug that wasn’t here anymore. Frankly i wouldn’t really be shocked if he got to the point where he just walked away especially if they ask to take away his play calling duties.

Doug is sort of a Bill Cowher/Mike Tomlin HC.

He is a respected leader by the players.  They go hard for him.  But he’s not going to be the guy that makes good personnel decisions or architects a cutting edge scheme.  Someone else needs to be the brains of the operation.  In Pittsburgh, they gave those guys the talent, they had assistants who handled the X’s and O’s, and those HCs just kept the even keel and the players in line.  That’s how Doug has succeeded in the past and could again in the future.

Howie as the brains and Doug as the HC leading the charge don’t work together.

More believable that he knew he was going to spend time with his mother for the holidays and wanted to be cautious. McLane just trying to get readers.

No idea if this guy is legit...

Is Driscoll hurt?

Three or four weeks ago, I would've agreed with you. The longer this abomination of a season crawls on, the more I think it might actually be Howie.

It's hard for me to watch this team.  I dont blame Lurie for not wanting to watch this awful team.

Beleive me I wish he was that disgusted so major changes can be made. I just feel its more of a rare year with Covid and the holidays. Lurie didnt miss games under Chip or Reids horrible years that were just as awful. Just makes more sense this was a precaution for his mother. If it wasnt covid im sure he would have been there. Its just as ugly watching it on tv lol.

Im actually a bit glad covid put a stop to fans. Saved me a TON of money watching a horrible team in person. Only paid for 3 games instead of 10. Plus I had booked trips to Pittsburgh and Cleveland for my away game trips that were canceled. Covid saved me min 10k this year, lol

If only a third of that is true, then Roseman must go.

Yeah I think the entire team is glad there are no fans this year.

I believe there is talent on this team.  Wouldn't surprise me if new coaches on both sides could bring that talent out more than the current coaches.

If picking top 5 I just dont want another developmental, down the road, needs to learn type of player.  We have enough of those guys that didnt develop.  Picking top 5-10 I want someone that can start and contribute right away.

I agree. The rookie will have to start next season. Can't have them sitting behind some old vet waiting for their number to get called

10th different combination. Just wow. I don't think that's getting enough attention

As the weeks go by it’s becoming more and more clear Howie is getting fired after this year. We have little quality young players, the cap is a disaster, we have too much money devoted to older players and we don’t have extra draft picks to help replenish an aging, overpaid roster.

Even if I agreed with a lot of the process he used over the past three years, at some point the results are too much to ignore. Hardly anything of consequence has worked out for Roseman since the SB.

Given the choice, I'd say Howie needs to go before Doug if it had to be one or the other.

Doug seems clueless most of the time, especially lately, but if Howie truly is running the show and won't listen to Doug or even Jim as it pertains to defensive players, he needs to get far away from this team.

Doug cant game plan, script plays, design plays etc. He is not a leader, hes a "yes"man as mentioned in another post. He needs to go so we can bring in a new OC to get one year with Wentz to see if he can be turned around in a real offense before his "out" year.

I dont care if they fire Howie or not, But Doug has to go no matter is Howie stays as acting GM, hires a GM and just gives up that role or is flat out fired. I would think Lurie and Howie will just hire an actual GM since Howie does not hold the title. hes acting as a GM under a different title.

Agreed the game prep and playcalling are the main issues with this team right now. Given this is how Doug has handled the team for years, I don’t see anyway that can be changed with him here even if he wanted to. We need to move on from him.

The roster, although on the older side, on paper should be much better than 3-6-1. I don’t care if Howie stays or goes, we do need to bring in another talent evaluator though.

Holy hyperbole. How on earth did we win any games with him here? Couple that with how people talk about Schwartz, it must have been all dumb luck.

If he’s getting fired he should just get fired now. Doesn’t make much sense to wait until the end of the year. Deadline to redo contracts for 2020 is coming up soon, I think that will be a good indicator of his job safety. It wouldn’t make sense to let him do even more restructures if he’s just getting fired in a few weeks.

If Doug is fired/relieved/resigns and Howie stays, it would be hard for me to root for this team in 2021.

The multiple O-Line combos is certainly not ideal but there’s no way do I think it has much or anything at all to do with how pathetic Wentz has played. There’s no excuse to win 3 out of 10 games.
