Douglas took the Jets job knowing Gase was going to stay so it’s not really far fetched. Doug has three playoff appearances and a SB win. I’m not sure Lurie would have to twist a GM’s arm too hard to keep him around for at least a year.

The only reason why I think the Jets kept Adam gase is because they are too cheap to fire him with many years left on the contract and still be on the hook of paying him to do nothing when the team was heading into a massive rebuild. I am of the belief jets knew they weren’t going to be very good this year anyway and in a major rebuild so they didn’t want to be paying massive money for a fired coach and a new coach.  I’m willing to bet Joe Douglas knew he was gonna fire Gase at the end of this year unless he did something incredible. Gase was basically a lame duck for a year. If I’m Doug I’m not even dealing with that I’d walk away because I’m betting there’s probably an organization that still believes he is a good coach a Super Bowl winning coach and would hire them. If Jeff Fisher who was bad after mcnair was able to get multiple jobs I think Doug Pederson would be able to get a HC job

Really the $60M over the cap number means that fans will have to understand a few veteran players are gone:

Jeffery, D-Jax, Malik Jackson definitely gone

Ertz, Graham, Barnett possibly gone (2 of 3 in some combination)

Kelce possibly retires would save $8M.  The rest of the cost-cutting would be restructures

People keep saying 60 million but thats just a prediction right now. That is the worse case situation. The NFL and Owners have not even had the meeting about the cap situation yet. They will have a meeting with the NFL, the owners and the NFLPA at the end of the year. I have a feeling they will split it up for a few years so it wont be a worse case situation. Don't see it being as bad as everyone is saying.

I was here during that and one of very few who spoke out against it on deadline day. It wasn't highly questioned then.  Not until Tate couldn't get integrated did people start questioning it.

That just exacerbated the issue, and more importantly, highlighted the disconnect between the front office and coaching staff...  Avery is just more of the same.

He can pout and miss the rest of the season if he wants.  Why should we even care?

He was a great Eagle, and that would be an awful way for him to tarnish his legacy.

Yeah, you’re not remembering it that well if you think you were one of the few questioning it.

E45 backs that up.

Why would Wentz retire?

I was responding to someone else who suggested it.  he wont

Then I don’t think he remembers it that well either.

I think it's already been.

No one even waves him back this year.  People even thought he was bad last year. Then he came back.  Then he asked for more money...

The only issue with Malik Jackson is you can’t cut him until post June 1 to get any significant cap relief. His contract is structure that if you cut him pre-June 1 you’re only saving $1 million. So it will help with the Eagles cap situation at some point in time but it doesn’t help very much when the new league year starts

I understand a lot of your guy’s points on here and logically they make sense but I still believe both doug and howie are going to be back next year. I think 2021 is going to be the year that makes or breaks what they are going to do with the doug and howie Roseman. I fully expect the pandemic to be brought up when they tell you both are coming back. I expect them to use the injuries as an excuse. And I expect lurie to have some fiery press conference saying this isn’t good enough and it has to change starting now otherwise changed will be made.

I think Doug is going to be asked to give up playcalling and I think they’re gonna fire some of their coaches (i tend to believe  The stretch of four games coming up is going to dictate a lot about Jim Schwartz ). Now with howie, I don’t know what they do but i tend to think he somehow survives this but is likely on thin ice heading into 2021.

There is a difference between what we believe should happen, and what we think will happen.

And all of that doesn’t come close to quitting because you got moved to a different position.

If that’s what’s happening.

Which was what my first part of that sentence was referring too

Yes, sorry, my question wasn’t specifically aimed at you.  I’m just beginning to think there are some in here who actually believe the Eagles will go to Wentz and the conversation will be:

”You know, Carson, you haven’t been playing all that well this season.  How about you just save us a lot of money and retire from football?”

”Okay — bye, everybody!”

I actually think there’s more of a chance doug walks away then Carson. I don’t think either one of them walks away but if I had a bet I think it would be Doug just because he be irritated with how the front office has treated him and I’m guessing they likely ask him to give up play calling

Leave it to middleton and the Phillies to use the pandemic to their advantage on why they didn’t want too/weren’t able to re-sign Realmuto (also I think the 2 billion in losses is for the entire major-league baseball and the Phillies are only at 145 million)

I was very surprised when I saw the reporting before the season that said Doug was already at the end of his rope, and that others in the league knew it.  I can’t picture any circumstance after the season where the Eagles decide to just junk this as a COVID year, and start next season with the same group intact.

I think a lot of people short-change Wentz for what’s going on this season.  He’s got a MASH-unit OL, all of his targets have been out of the lineup for a chunk of the season at various intervals leaving no continuity at all, he’s the one who takes the full brunt of the blame (as all QBs do), plus I bet he feels a ton of pressure to try to perform to keep the coaches jobs safe.

Of all the players, I bet he’ll be the one who feels the worst with all the changes that are coming.

Howie has way too much control over this team. Simple as that. Andy became frustrated. Chip did. Doug is now too.

I want to say you’re right and I can’t see them starting next year with the same group intact but I can totally see the Eagles convincing themselves that the pandemic, injuries and just the weirdness of this year to keep Carson, doug and howie here. I think they’ll be changes to the coaching staff and Doug calling plays  but I could totally see Lurie having a press conference saying these are the moves we made and this can’t continue to keep happening otherwise there’s gonna be even bigger changes where’s he’s super angry but it really just keeps everything in the same place for 2021.

I thought maybe he learned his lesson from his gap year, but it appears he hasn’t. If these reports are true, of course.

Do you really think Howie had any say over Andy when he was here? Not even close. Andy was in charge of who they drafted. He might not have dealt with the contracts but he made the choice of who he wanted. Howie was just holding his jock up.

Also Chip had Howie booted to the basement so he had zero say then as well.

Yea and sanity is thinking Barnett could fetch a 2nd.

Big difference between a 2nd and a 7th. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Barnett is still as young as some our rookies.

He'd fetch more than a 7th. That's for sure.
