September 18, 20204 yr Joe Burrow is a baller. He doesn't have a really strong arm, but he's exceptional just about everywhere else.

It’s why on the Phillies thread like 3-4 of us said keeping him wouldn’t change anything cause he’s been awful in building the farm in how he wants it and really wheeler and didi have been his best moves as harper was middleton stepping in and Realmuto might leave at seasons end cause he Dilly dallied his contract. you want to know how bad it is for the Phillies. The Chicago White Sox and the San Diego padres began their rebuild after the Phillies and their farm systems are stocked with good prospects. the White Sox have the best record in all the American League and the Padres are the second best team in the National League
September 18, 20204 yr I’m sure the Bengals board is on fire with fans complaining about the pass-run ratio.

September 18, 20204 yr I don’t know if anyone else has listened to the tra Thomas and gunner podcast. Tra Thomas does an excellent job breaking down driscoll’s performance and mailata. It was a good listen. Highly suggest it.

Are you sure you arent thinking of Taylor Hart who was a DT that switched to OL here for a while before finally getting cut? Im pretty sure we never tried Villanueva on offense at all. I thought they did but yeah maybe I was thinking of Hart.

These sorts of posts from you are what frustrates other posters.
September 18, 20204 yr Pissed they are showing the cowpukes game in Las Vegas. Most visitors and transplants are from Socal. They should be showing the Rams Eagles game!

If we are comparing our team to the Bengals, the might as well throw in the towel. On another note, somehow a QB managed to roll left and throw a 43 yard TD on a designed play. Didnt know it was possible!

Doug sucks. He has a chance to change this, bit if he keeps calling the game as he did on Sunday...

Jones, replaced by Maddox. Countess, replaced by Wallace. Etc. But if they'd found good depth guys between those then they could have drafted other players to help at other positions.

I've probably even overreacted a few times myself. However, I hope we improve this week and the weeks after...and I hope we make the playoffs. Writing the season off after one game for a fantasy super pick isn't my thing and shouldn't be yours either. I'm not writing the season off after one game though. I never thought this season was going to be a pretty one. I had concerns over the flaws that we all saw and I thought it was going to be a long hard season. Maybe we do win on Sunday. Maybe we even beat Cincinnati and move to 2-1. But looking at this team, the schedule and further injuries to come i just don't think this team is going to be competitive. And there's nothing wrong with that. Some teams have bad patches where they have to rebuild. I accept that and I think that's where this team is headed.

On the other side of "further injuries to come" is players returning and the team getting healthier and gaining continuity. This week sees the return of some good ones. The challenge for the whole season on offense may be if Peters responds at LT or not, which plays into Carson's ability to stay upright or not. The team isn't headed to a rebuild. It's fully engaged in one. Just look at the differences between the SB team and this one. Some of the younger recognozable names are here, but many have left the building for youth, especially the skill positions. Hang in there, UK. All is not lost. This is likely not a SB contender, but it's also not the bad team we saw Sunday. Go get the win this week and build from there.

I don't think it is a 'bad' team but I think things could go south for this team quite quickly. And whilst I am looking ahead to the future and looking at the 'negatives' I do also see some major issues. I mean this team is significantly over the cap next year, now that in itself is not a huge issue. We know Howie can manipulate and work the cap so that isn't such an issue. My greater issue is how is this team so far over the cap? I mean who are the star players earning so much money? Because I don't see it. I see a team in desperate need of new talent on both the DL and OL. The DE needs a major overhaul with Barnett being a long term question mark and Graham nearing the end of his long (and overall successful) career. Cox entering his 30's and Jackson not being a long term answer. I know we have Sweat who looks like a promising rotational guy but we need 2 new starters really. I mean Barnett could be a nice #2 but it depends on what his contract demands are. We also need to add at CB and LB and potentially even LB. I know we don't value LB but we need at least decent players and I just don't see Gerry being that guy. And then we need to add better depth at RB and WR. Though at WR lets see what we have in Hightower and Watkins plus see if JJAW can do anything this year. There are reasons to be hopeful but this team does need a complete rebuild.

September 18, 20204 yr I firmly believe that Doug's run/pass ratio was a symptom, not the disease, on Sunday. I know many will say that all Doug needed to do was eliminate that deep drops, stick with the run, instead of being so stupid and stubborn. So I won't convince that crowd. But I really believe this was a personnel problem. I posted it in this blog when we were up 17-0. I had said 'I hope we don't hear complaints about the run/pass next week if things do go wrong...this is the only option we have to run the offense.' The running game was equivalent to a loss of down. Scott was banged up and worn down. Clement was really a sentimental mistake to put on the roster. He's a waste of carries and cannot move. The OL was abysmal in opening up holes on the ground. They were already maxing out the short passing game with the TE's and Ward underneath. And Wentz was outstanding and they were scoring. So the right answer here is just to keep at it. There are no adjustments to make. Then Wentz went south FAST...ints, short fields, and before you knew it, rather than adjusting into a more conservative ball control offense...we needed go back to the deep pass attack to score so we could regain the lead. I realize there are subtle adjustments that can be made to lessen the burden on Wentz and the OL (and many will argue they were not made), but I really see this as a personnel issue. They had a nonviable running game, whether you stick with it or not. In the second half (for just that half), they had a nonviable QB.
