I agree with this. Unfortunately I think the terrible OLine play and constant pressure and hits from this season might have permanently broken Wentz. When you look at his career as a whole, this season is not the norm, and there has to be a reason for it. I honestly think it’s the awful protection he’s had.
 

Unfortunately though there have been examples from other QBs of having this kind of season because of no protection, and never recovering from it. Hopefully that’s not the case for Wentz, but we don’t know yet. And if the plan is to mix Hurts in, then we’ll never know. 

With the way this week has gone, I would not be surprised if Carson gets a mysterious "injury" and Hurts is the starter for the Mon night game.

There doesn’t have to be one intrinsically "real” Wentz and we have to debate if it was 2017 or 2020.

Elite success is like riding a wave.  You can fall off and it’s really hard to get back on.

2017 could have been the real Wentz, but Doug and Howie f’ed up and sucker punched Wentz off that wave.

But the wave has passed and he IS broken.  

That would be such an Eagles thing to do.

Dont bench Wentz.  Don’t start Hurts.  Don’t stick with Wentz and give him a vote of confidence.  Rotate them!  QB rotation!

All the embarrassment for Wentz of a benching, none of the rest or emotional distance/pressure release from the dumpster fire.

All of the opportunity for Hurts to F up, none of the opportunity to string together experience and rhythm.

I just re-watched the 2017 NFC championship game highlights. That offense was so good. It's hard to believe that was just 3 years ago and this is where we are now.

It's the best solution since Carson's ego is too fragile to handle getting benched.  Apparently we still have to coddle this guy at the end of his 5th season at age 27.

Have to wonder.  If they didn't draft Hurts, would they be doing the same thing with Sudfeld as the backup?  Is this more trying to help Carson or is it more of them trying to show what Hurts can do.

Last year at this time I was getting ripped apart for saying he hasn’t played great... "oh but he has no receivers...”. You couldn’t suggest he was anything less than an All-Pro without the Pom Pom wavers pouncing
