Well....there is a reasonable expectation that Desean will go down at some point later this season.

Reagor and Hightower are still unknowns with regards to dependability.

JJAW isn't there yet and Ward is just Ward.

When healthy, Alshon can be an effective WR.  Worth $15M?  No way.  But his cap number isn't relevant if/when Carson has limited options at WR.

IMO, he is a very expensive insurance policy.

I'd rather have Desean injured, Reagor and Hightower as unknowns getting experience starting in a 12 personnel heavy offense with Ward in the slot...and $10.7m back in my 2021 cap pocket.  I'd take that any day over Reagor/Jeffery with Hightower getting less experience (it's all him in 2021 anyway) and losing a chunk of our 2021 cap.  And in the unlikely event that Desean DOESN'T get hurt, we really don't even have much of a role for Jeffery, unless we are going to platoon Desean and Reagor, which is a horrible move, IMO.

True, but it’s representative — he doesn’t really give full effort in pass pro in general; still, he’s a lot better running the ball than Scott or Clement and Scott didn’t really get it done in blitz pickup either.

Freeman wanted too much money a couple of months ago — I wonder if his price has come down.

Could be. If he isn’t washed, he’s better than Clement. If he wants to play for $1M, cool.

I’m not, even a little.

Well a good pass protecting RB helps but I can’t imagine signing a RB to compensate for a crappy O-Line.

They’re interested in him because they don’t want to go into a game with Clement and Scott as their 1-2 punch. It was worse than Smallwood/36 year old Sproles

If all are healthy, I'd phase out Ward and have Jackson/Reagor at Z, Jeffrey/Reagor at X, and feature Reagor in the slot.

I’m not so sure the Eagles value those grind it out power backs. Sanders theoretically can do the job, but his skill set is more of an all-around weapon.

Scott showed some toughness against the Giants, but he’s not a powerful guy. Clement was a nice RZ player in 2017, but his value is in being a balanced back who before Sunday was pretty good in pass pro. Huntley has zero power.

We love players with torn achilles, Isaiah Crowell has started extensively in this league, played pretty well, and his injury was back in May 2019.

He should be a vet minimum kind of guy who might have just enough in the tank to be a serviceable backup.  Maybe he's toast too.  Maybe he's not.  Work him out.

They went into week 1 that way, so I’m not so sure.

The grind it out power backs are antiquated.  But they need sturdy insurance at the position and were caught with their pants down without it.

While RBs are easy to find, nothing is THAT easy to find after the season starts...and that includes well-rounded backs who are strong, pass protect, and can be involved in the passing game.

So they may have to settle for that prototypical "big back" the fans always want just so they can have Sanders insurance that can handle the bulk of the carries if need be.

I’m not worried about having an RB handle the bulk of the work if Sanders goes down. I’m fine with a committee. I’m fine with Scott and Sanders provided Sunday isn’t their typical performance in pass pro.

I think the Eagles QB, OL, and RB play will be night/day better than it was against WASH; the Rams are also night/day better on offense than WASH, though — so we’ll have to see how the defense holds up

As sad as it is, Corey Clement looks done.  He did something that few of us will ever achieve, but even so, it was long enough ago that shows the sport is Not For Long. Freeman is a good tire kick to do and if his wages demands have come down, it offers a better back stop if Sanders is injured.

I can see why people think Doug is stressed. He's lost Reich and struggled to replace him, and I bet he is falling down the AR hole of fingers getting deeper into the systematic pie and not necessarily maintaining a world view.  Press Taylor is certainly one that I can't help but question if he's hit his Peter Principle already.

For a Super Bowl winning coach, he seems to have very little power in the organization. I’m sure he’s pissed as hell that he had to fire coaches he wanted to retain — a day after publicly announcing they’d be back. That has to feel emasculating.

Some of this takes time.  It took AR years to figure out how to overcome fatal flaws in his offenses.  AR was pretty much in year 6 before he actually figured out how to have a team driven by a high end offense that wasn't primarily leaning upon defensive success.  That's the guy who is considered the NFL's foremost offensive mind and personnel guy who couldn't draft a skill player to save his life or mold his own high end offense until he was 6 years in.

AR had the same organizational issues as he tried to get more involved (AR had the GM title from the beginning, IIRC), but he really struggled putting it all together.  Frankly, he never did in Philly.

It does, but it perhaps shows that he overly loyal to staff whose performance is average and require the VP/SVP to come in and resolve personnel issues. Is Doug a OC or a HC?

It's easy to sit from so far away and point out failings, but the last 2 seasons have been overly erratic for me.

I agree on AR.  It's sad that a move from Philly got him to take a step back and think, nah, don't want to be involved in things like personnel. I'm sure having a great OC in KC makes his life a lot, lot easier and gives him a voice who can say, come on Andy, don't do that. I'm not sure Doug has that now.

I don't want him sacked, but it's fair to question his O coaching hires in the past few years

They need another Howard IMO

I don’t really have any huge reservations about bringing Devonta Freeman in, but it also feels like spinning the wheels a bit.  Too bad Lindsay got injured in Denver; a late round pick for Royce Freeman might have made more sense in the longer term.

lol

He went from "We aren't putting on a time table for him" to FP and no injury designation in two days. Best medical staff in the league!!!

Crazy right?  That's DP talking for you.  I'm happy yet frustrated at the same time.  Good player will help, why do we have to deal with DP's pressers.

It’s too bad we don’t play the Rams after Nov 3rd so we can have fans and actually have a home field advantage

That's awesome.  Nice thing is any shop can screen print Barnett on there as they used pretty basic font for those uniforms.
