Draft day was on earlier, I had nothing better to do so I watched it for first time since it’s release. Such a terrible movie & the football logic is so bad lol. Vontae Mack runs around the edge for a sack, cuts to Browns scout "what a nasty bull rush” 😂😂

I really think the writers of this film just skimmed through a handful of player reports for football words, then said yup this should work!

I lasted about 10 minutes trying to watch that but now I feel like I need to commit

JJAW was open and doing a great screening off the trailing DB.

Even Reagor was somewhat open, although the least out of the options

It’s actually entertaining, but like in a bad way.

Hadn’t seen this tweet.

Wouldn’t the layup be the check down?

Also, BLG brought up a good point in the Santo pod. If they like Press Taylor for passing concepts, then fine. But they need to bring in a QB coach who will tell Carson no. I don’t think it’s a coincidence at this point the one QB coach who supposedly challenged him the most and "butted heads” helped turn in an MVP season.

There was definitely a formula between Pederson, Reich, and DeFilippo that seemed like the correct one, and Pederson has not found that formula with any subsequent coaches.  Interesting that the Eagles didn’t make an effort to bring DeFilippo back given multiple opportunities to do so.  Now he’s back to being a QB coach with the Bears.

Hopefully Wentz feels some competitive fire being matched up against Goff this week.  That game he played vs the Rams in 2017 before being knocked out might be the best game I’ve seen from him.

From what we understand DeFilippo really got after Wentz and got on him. And apparently that is what Wentz needs. He needs that QB coach, or someone, to get on him and lay in to him (behind closed doors) when needed.

Maybe Doug could take his ice cream away and ask Hurts if he wants a double scoop?

There has to be something in the CBA preventing such ruthless tactics!

The LBs and Gerry seemed to hold up well.

That's how I felt I guess we'll see going forward.

This is not a knock against Zach Ertz but just watching DG move he is so much smoother as an athlete.  Would love to see some side by side highlights to show this.  Ertz is very choppy with his steps, almost seems top heavy, knock his feet out and he goes down.  DG just seems to have much better body control.

Also, Kist over the last few months is challenging ESP for biggest dbag.

Ertz is not " choppy" he's a very good route runner.

So winning seasons with the odd play off win is enough for you then?

Superbowl win!!!!! Then 2 freaking winning seasons. You think we should win the damn super bowl every freaking year?

I'm done with this conversation. Likely I'm not changing your mind. Me I prefer to let the ship sink before I jump off.

I just don't see what's wrong with recognising issues and preparing for a couple of years of struggle! It's plain to see this team is trending in the downwards trajection.

I'm not arguing what they've achieved the last 3 years. But I'm also pointing out that they have struggled the last 2 years.

Epic rant, but spiking the stack of papers on the podium at the beginning takes the cake.

I saw that and I think it can be an exaggerated stat.  Wentz is hard to bring down and fought guys quite a bit before going down.  I would be more interested in how much time there was between the snap and first contact on Wentz.  With that being said, Wentz still needs to get rid of the ball.

I don't mean that in he doesn't run good routes.  What I mean is he takes shorter, choppier strides.

Inglorious B@sterds is a great movie!

I have been saying this about Wentz for a few years now.  So has Doug, which is brutally honest for him as he doesn’t tend to speak ill of his players.  Rarely gets anything after four seconds either and usually there was something open.  I would also argue a high percentage of his fumbles occur when he holds the ball too long.   Truly elite QB understands when to throw the ball away and live to play another down

Half of the sacks were contributed to by the RB, two each on Corey and Scott.

McCown seems to relate well to helping with other players. Sitting back on the line in Texas watching the film and coaching Wentz is as much of his role as quarantine QB.

Yo Yo! Da U plays tonight! Wish the Eags D had this much $wag

To assess the state of panic among Eagles fans in Week 2, now seems like a great time to run through a mailbag. Let’s get to it.

I thought that was a concerning performance from Carson Wentz in Week 1. This is his fifth year in the league, and we have a pretty good sense of his strengths and weaknesses. He can make all the throws and is capable of producing spectacular, highlight-reel plays — whether that means escaping pressure and finding receivers downfield or just high-degree-of-difficulty passes.

On the other hand, no player has fumbled more than Wentz (36 times!) since the start of the 2017 season. His accuracy can be erratic, and he sometimes misses easy throws. There’s a tradeoff there because as mentioned, he can make some really difficult throws. It was only one game, but the concern is that Wentz isn’t improving his weaknesses. One sack was a botched screen, and instead of throwing the ball away, he tried to pick up 1 or 2 yards and took a hit. On a fumble, he had one hand on the ball in the pocket. His duck-under move looked like it was going to lead to an injury all game long.

And then there were the interceptions. I asked the great Coach Flinn for his take on those, and he explained that on hitches and out-breaking routes, quarterbacks are instructed to throw high and outside. That way, even if the receiver doesn’t run a great route (John Hightower’s route was not great on the one interception), the ball is not going to get picked. Wentz missed inside on both interceptions.

Again, it was only one game. Maybe Wentz lights it up Sunday and has a great season. He still has a high ceiling, as we saw in 2017. The circumstances against Washington were tough, but that’s part of playing the position. You pay a guy $128 million so that he can overcome bad circumstances. That’s what you want to see from Wentz going forward in 2020.
