I'm not sure the bolded helps your argument.

It doesn’t. I pointed this out back in May it was an idiotic plan. Relying on 3 rookie wide receivers in a pandemic with little offseason activities doesn’t help especially when you have been bad at evaluating WRs in the draft. Add on desean was 34 and not reliable to stay healthy. Everyone knew jeffery was done. And relying on JJAW to turn it around with no offseason was ridiculous. It was a faulty bad idiotic plan from the start at wr. Additionally I’d argue their backup RB which was talked as well wasn’t properly addressed.

Nah... it was wasted in Detroit long before that...

Well whatever is left of it, I mean. I haven't seen anyone bring it up but he's a guy you might just want to unload this offseaon for draft picks. Dead money hurts at $9.75M but he would open up $6M pre 6/1 or $12.5M post 6/1

Hurts was drafted b/c Wentz hasn't shown he can be counted on to survive 18-19 game seasons, and after watching McNown flounder, they decided they needed a backup QB who could steal a game or two - and a mobile young QB is the cheap option, the highly paid veteran QB is the other (Sudfeld is what you get with low paid veteran QBs).

McNown didn't flounder... McNown tore his hamstring off the bone and they didn't have another QB active.   Bad gameday roster management... again.

If this is true we are just in trouble.  I just don't understand why Howie can do no wrong in Lurie's eyes.  The guy has single handedly decimated this roster.

I might stop watching the NFL then.

Again, I think you're over complicating it.

Howie Roseman could likely lose his job (at least as GM/Player personnel) if they part ways with Wentz after the 2021 season.

There's no way Lurie could justify keeping Howie as a GM after:

A. Going "all in" on Wentz and giving up the assets they did to draft him.

B. Going "all in" on Wentz (once again) when he made the decision to keep Wentz over Foles after Foles won them their first Super Bowl. He followed that up by still picking Wentz over Foles after Foles came in the following year and guided the team to the playoffs.  As much as the fans liked Wentz...after the 2nd Foles comeback year, the regular fan-base was split around 50/50 in regards to Wentz vs Foles.  You wouldn't of guessed it around here (This board has always been a 75% Wentz/25% Foles board) but the general fan-base (according to just about every poll at the time, was split 50/50)  So there's a chance that if Howie really wanted to keep Foles, he could have done so after that season and it still would have made (at least) half the fan-base happy.

C.  He backed up his decision by awarding Wentz the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history (at the time).

D. He has always stated that Carson Wentz is the franchise quarterback of the Philadlephia Eagles and everything he has done in terms of contracts and "moves" state exactly that.

So despite all of the above, you want me to believe that Howie Roseman drafted Hurts in order to preserve his job?  There's little chance of that being based in reality because as you can see, Howie Roseman and Carson Wentz are attached at the hips.  Wentz' last day as an Eagle is likely Howie's last day as GM/Player personnel.

FYI doug is also attached at the hip to Carson. You causally just ignore that. Lol

No i never said howie roseman drafted to preserve his job. It’s the Fing narrative you keep running with. I said it is his card to go and try to use if hurts plays like he expected that he scouted and knew he could be that. And he’s use hurts playing well to say i knew he was that as a way to keep his job. And it likely would cause it means he found a franchise QB. And he would have the eagles in the right position after a bad contract which lurie and almost every other GM would make at that time with wentz.

You again remarkable job at not reading and making narratives up.

I’m done having convos with you. You continuously just refuse to read the words and go off on a narrative. Good day

Sadly I feel this will be the case. I think the bond between Howie and Lurie is too strong for Doug and Co to break. Although they all need to go IMO.

Of course, because that's the type of argument afan was making.   "But mom, all the other kids can spend their allowance on this."

So reports from ESPN today: Carson Wentz was "Hurt” with the Eagles drafting Jalen Hurts and there were "Internal Riffs” between scouts and Roseman who wanted Justin Jefferson and Jeremy Chinn over Reagor and Hurts.

I can believe both stories after seeing how the Eagles are performing. There will be a big change in the offseason. It will be Doug or Roseman.

If Howie just did the obvious and drafted Jefferson and Chinn he would have probably easily bought himself another 5 years of bulletproof job security.

I did..   along with a few others.

He might not fire him, but I don't think that means he will just leave him be as GM. He's already stripped him once of it, so there should be no stopping a second time.

yup...   thank goodness he didn't.  Howie needs to go in the worst possible way.

He needs to be kept away from contracts, too.   Maybe he can park cars or something.

Relax.  We probably agree more than we disagree then.

Roughly 20% of the league wants a guy we couldn't play more than 15 snaps a game. Not a good look.

Believe what you wish.

Lurie understands the self-preservation of his image and his brand.

If he keeps Howie and they win 3 games next year, Lurie's name will be the one dragged through the mud in Philly sports, not Howie, not Klentak, not Middleton.

Lurie's loyalty may cause him to hang onto Howie far too long, but he'll drop him like a hot potato once the bad press settles onto him.

Howie needs to be demoted to pizza maker. I'm hungry.

Yep, and he will make an impact play before anyone on the Eagles does.

I think the press is there and it was turned up to 11 on MNF....national TV.  He has to make a move.

Be careful - you're likely to get a kale and lima bean thin crust.

I said it when we signed him, I'll say it now that he's gone...Will Parks is a massive liability in coverage.  By not playing, his signing went about as well as it could have for our defense.

So you don't think there are reasons why he is an issue?

But I could turn that around and say, don't you think the issues are because of Wentz? How can an offense function when the QB is playing this badly?
