I would pick the Steelers to win against any AFC team in the playoffs right now besides the Chiefs. Things could change between now and January though.

Idk i think the Titans have a shot against them. If not for gostkowski shanking a fg they take the Steelers to overtime. To me the chiefs definitely beat them. Titans it’s going to be close.

Just awful.

The Howie special. A player coming off injury who doesn't fit our scheme.  3 year deal.

It's just sports, bro. I enjoy watching DK Metcalf play. I like alpha's who talk crap on social media. It's not my fault the Eagles didn't draft him, nor his fault. It's the Eagles.

If you're so childish and immature that you can't handle a poster enjoying a player on  "the enemy team" to where you resort to personal insults  then you take sports much too seriously and you take this message board much too seriously.

Grow up and act like a Fing adult. What a clown.

You do this stupid crap all the time. If you don't want to be called a Fing idiot stop acting like a Fing idiot. Thank you Dr. Phil for your brilliant diagnosis. I'll file it in the toilet with the rest of the crap.

He is a 3-4 edge rushing linebacker. Not a fit for our scheme

That was the point of the joke....kind of an LJ Fort move.

I just realized your sarcasm... 🤦‍♂️

Schwartz won't be back.

Who knows what our scheme will be.

I was excited when they went 3-4 under Chip.  Do we even have any pieces to consider switching?  I don't think they could considering we are strapped for cash.  I would say 99% we are running a 4-3 again next year.

Not having a chip in the football, with tracking technology on the field, in 2020, is absurd.

I agree. Even if we ditch all of the heavy veteran contracts we will probably stick with 4-3. Although, it’s not like we have any linebackers that are scheme specific. We don’t have many worth keeping tbh

Completely agree. And put lasers in the pylons while you are at it (kinda like my garage door opener) 😆

Unless the camera is straight down the line, you can't be sure.   Neither one looks like a bogus call to me.

You could save all of us a lot of time.

We were way late to the 3-4 party.  All of us Eagles fans were mystified and intrigued by a 3-4 defense for years because the QB at the time, Mcnabb, was too dumb to process a different look.  His stats against 3-4 D's were comically bad.  People blamed it on AR at the time.

The real competitive advantage the 3-4 conferred...and it always comes back to this...was the draft.  A 3-4 prototype edge rusher, at the time, was labeled a "tweener," so you could pass rush cornerstones for your defense later in the draft than the 4-3 DE's would go.

By the time we hired Chip and went 3-4, EVERYONE was using a 3-4.  There was no longer any extra value in acquiring 3-4 personnel.  And with the passing emphasis in this league, 4-3 DE's are basically the same size, same athleticism, same responsibility as 3-4 OLB's.  From a draft perspective, they are interchangeable (nearly).

Let’s hope he’s not. I’d like someone who can at least confuse an opponent from time to time.

We should stay with 4-3 personnel, but actually use complex coverages. Zimmer in Minnesota and McDermott in Buffalo do more with far worse personnel than us. Salah isn't multiple in SF, but they're so well-coached and disciplined that they limit what opponents do.

And Eagles can't make LBs work... 3-4s rely heavily on the LBs being the playmakers.  That's the worst thing the Eagles can do.

I think the best way to build a defense is nearly the inverse of what we have done (although, again, the defense is NOT the problem with this team).

I think the move is to put as much cap and pick investment into the offense as possible.  On defense, get disruptive edge rushers and UNIFORM coverage across the secondary.  Don't go chasing lock down CB's for big money or big picks that DON'T EXIST.  Just have good coverage guys, not great, across the secondary.  These days, a secondary is as good as the weakest link.  So don't spend a 1st round pick and/or $18m per year on a stud when you've got 3 others who can't cover.

With disruptive edge rushers and uniform coverage in the secondary, your average defense will get enough timely stops per game to help the offense you have over-invested in to consistently win shootouts.

That's the blueprint.

oddly we have a bunch of LBs who probably fit better in a 3-4. Singleton with a big NT in front of him occupying blockers to let him fly around? Get him blitzing more as a 4th rusher...

Hes a borderline playmaker currently for us. Imagine if you had him, and LJ Fort who everyone says was just a 3-4 LB. Those 2 would be balling together in our 3-4. Sweat might be an absolute beaut as a rush OLB too. Just need one other. Maybe Toohill actually coulda been nice. Even Genard Avery?

I think next year, Cox, Malik Jackson, and Hargrave is a nice 3-4 DL. And we kinda have the LB personnel. Fort is gone. TJ Edwards and Singleton would be the middle. Sweat and Avery outside. We could probably switch right away and get by. Might even be good.

You might be right.  What do I know?  I'm just some ancient dude on an ancient platform.
