I can be talked into different configurations for our 2021 front office and coaching staff, but none of them include Howie. At the very least, he needs to go. And with how dysfunctional everything appears to be, I’m good with a complete overhaul.

That said, I’m glad to see some folks have come around on Schwartz. People act like he’s terrible at his job, and he’s nowhere close to bad. Frustrating, sure, but overall he’s a good DC.

Exactly where I'm at.

Roseman has caused disfunction in this organization for years, and never gets held accountable. I'm sick of it.

If he's not gone, I'm seriously done watching the Eagles.

I'm willing to give Wentz another year (preferably with a different coach), but that's it for him.

I live in Charlotte, my kids like the Panthers. I got to see my Super Bowl. For the first time, after 30 years I will be perfectly fine moving on from this drama filled organization.

You've flipped again from wanting him fired to now wanting him to be retained?

I didn’t say that, although I do believe if we keep Doug we should keep Schwartz.

Maybe Doug wins a power struggle with Howie and tells Lurie he wants Howie’s guy gone.

The point mostly was that the one guy I believe is most at blame for our three-year fall is Howie. He has to be gone. He’s pretty much failed at all aspects of his job during that span.

Do you want Schwartz fired or not?

I grew up in Charlotte, panthers fans are the most fair weather fans ever. I remember being 8 or nine and deciding that I liked the eagles fanbase better than my home town team. If an 8 year old can pick up on your lack of passion, you know its pretty prominent. I love that you let your kiddos choose their own team though!

It’s funny to read about the various rumors and trying to sort it all out.

Doug doesn’t have much power at all in the building and doesn’t even have complete control of his coaching staff — not even on the offensive side of the ball.

Schwartz has immense power for a DC, total autonomy over his coaching staff and even he picked specific players for his defense. It seems when it comes to the draft though, his voice is irrelevant.

Howie defers to Schwartz on certain vets, overruling his  player personnel folks. In the draft he overruled his scouts by going Reagor and Hurts over Jefferson and Chinn. Schwartz supposedly wanted Kenneth Murray. In 2019, we debated two WRs while on the clock, with Campbell being ranked higher on our board than JJAW. We chose the lower ranked player after a last-minute argument and then shortly thereafter extended the player he was expected to replace a year later

If we take all of these reports at face value, what does it say about our organization?

That it’s a complete crap show. This organization since 2011 has had a lot of dysfunction so it’s not really all that surprising

There are a bunch of people here who are Cowboys fans, except for when the Cowboys are bad and the Panthers are good. Back in 2015 they all miraculously became Panthers fans until the following season.

Schwartz is an interesting duck, he puts together bend but don't break defenses out of average or worse than average talent, which is fine if you have a top ten offense.

This season is resembling AR's last season, an OL decimated by injury, Vick and Foles ended up with a 78.6 rating and a 48.7 QBR, however, they had more talent, McCoy & Brown ran the ball, DeSean, Maclin, Avant and Cooper at WR, Celek and Harbor at TE. But the defense was terrible that year. despite some real talent, Kendricks, Allen, Coleman, DRC, Cox, Graham, Thornton, and veterans like Cole, Babin, Ryans, Asomugha.

Kelly turned it around the next season, the only big addition on offense was Ertz, on defense, Fletcher, Williams and Barwin. Kelly's RPO with Foles took the league by surprise, and the kids grew up on defense. Next year the league caught up with Foles, but Sproles and Maclin carried the load. The following year the wheels fell off.

If the OL can bounce back next year, with the rookie WRs a year older, that would make a Wentz bounceback a good bet. I think Kelce's going to retire (he's showing his age) but Mailata - Driscoll - Seumalo - Brooks - Lane with Dillard, Prince, Herbig, Juriga on the bench could be a solid group if the right side stays healthy.

But the defense is going to hemorrhage talent with the cap issues. They're going to need Hargrave, Sweat, Ostman, Wallace, etc. to step up.

Mild-take: Schwartz is an average DC. He's not Zimmer, Salah, McDermott, Martindale, etc. He's also not Mike Nolan, Joe Woods, Lou Anarumo, etc.

How it is in Arizona. When the cardinals suck they are cowboys fans. And vice versa.

I find myself entering a state of cognitive dissonance... as I appear to be in relative alignment with the statements made by Orlando Scandrick...

Taking a victory lap

Orlando Scandrick | 'Undisputed' on FS1

We've talked about the coach and the quarterback, so it's only appropriate that we end this post talking about the general manager. We could break down the bad moves he's made in recent years — trades, free agent signings, draft picks — but instead, we'll let former Eagles quarterback Orlando Scandrick give his take. Here's what he had to say on FS1's "Undisputed," with a h/t to 94 WIP for the transcription.

"You can bench (Carson) Wentz, fire Dougie P, but you still got the same little weasel snake picking the players. He has been God awful," Scandrick said. "You say Wentz doesn’t have any help, well how is he supposed to have help if you draft J.J. Arcega-Whiteside over DK Metcalf? Then we go to the offseason and we say ‘Wentz still doesn’t have any help', and we draft Jalen Reagor who was a punt returner. He was basically known for being a punt returner at TCU over (Justin) Jefferson. It is time to blow the whole thing up. Blow it all up. Enjoy the Super Bowl, give him his Super Bowl ring, give him all the little nice pats on the back, call him a nice Uber XL and get him on out of there.”  [radio.com]

Exactly where the LA teams are and yet some marketing fool at the NFL thought it was a good idea to put 2 teams there.

I don't see how anyone can argue with his points.

this team needs a d coordinator that attacks the offense , doesn't set back and let's the other team dictate at will. jack del rio would be a good retread coach since he would hire a real OC to get this offense a scheme that you don't see on high school fields. doug doesn't know what he's doing. i also like arthur smith the titans OC he runs a balanced scheme and if he can fix tannehill , why not carson. kind on the fence on bieniemy since andy still calls the offense there , think the media is just beating the hire drum there.

Not the right question, IMHO. A new GM and a new HC will want their own guys. Telling them Schwartz stays is counterproductive. The only guy I desperately want to keep is Stoutland.

I like Chris Collinsworth even more now 😂

Agreed. And to be clear, I want all three of Howie, Doug, and Jim gone.

Schwartz has his flaws, but he does have his unit at 13th in DVOA. Considering the lack of talent in the back seven and the number of turnovers by the offense, this is noteworthy.

Honestly the biggest problem with the defense is they don’t create enough turnovers. So far this season the Eagles have created 11 turnovers. One of them came on special teams so really the defense has 10 through 11 games. They are 0-7-1 when having 1 or less turnovers and 3-0 when 2+. This has been an issue since the Super Bowl. The last two years they’ve had six interceptions in 22 games. Since the Super Bowl their turnovers for the season have been drastically lower. This is a problem not just because the defense is going to give up points in a league that’s offensively driven so you don’t combat some of that with getting turnovers to give your offense the ball in good field position to get some easy points. As good as the Eagles were that Super Bowl year they had a lot of turnovers where it set them up in good field position to get easy scores. the offense right now sucks so they probably wouldn’t do much with it

The Eagles are 30th in DVOA for offense.

I love all these adjusted stats that can pump up an agenda

Here is a real stat, Eagles, tied for first in yards per carry, Eagles, 29th in rushing attempts.

Coaches are to stupid to do what works.

Tells you all you need to know about this front office.

I don’t particularly feel strongly one way or the other, but I err on the side of fire everyone. But if we keep Doug we should keep Schwartz.

Found on Reddit but shows WRs are getting open
