We've all been asking these questions. Why can't we get a receiver wide open downfield like the rest of the NFL does? Where are the big plays? These are a bunch of different ways of saying the same thing, and that's that our offense just flat-out sucks. Talent, coaching, execution - all of it.

No, I was asking as a practical question.  I’m already of the firm opinion the overall problem is that Doug has no idea how to scheme players open, create mismatches, or develop the players we have.  He was hired only on Andy Reid’s recommendation; not because he has a creative offensive mind or ability to game plan.  He was hired for his soft touch and "emotional intelligence” as a contrast to Chip Kelly, and never would have been hired as a head coach for any other organization at that time

The answer I found was Darren Sproles’ 73-yard catch-and-run against the Steelers — in 2016.  He caught a wheel route from Wentz at midfield and dodged a couple of tacklers to score

When is the last time an Eagles player caught a short pass and turned it into a long TD, or even a long gain?  I remember Goedert catching a pass against DAL and running all the way to the end zone, only to have it called back on a BS penalty.  Has there been one since then?

The eagles don’t do that. The scheme we run is 5 yard curls and 7 yard outs when you need 10 to move the chains. The players seems to be coached to fall down immediately or drift out of bounds when you make the catch even if you are open -let the sideline tackle you. There is nothing designed to get anyone running free on a pick or a rub. Everything you get you earn the hard way.

Oh, okay. I see. Yeah, that Sproles play against the Steelers is the only one that comes to mind for me.

I understand what the point is, but it's an asinine thing to even mention. He said that an Eagles WR has never put up those kind of numbers in a season aside from two times. That's false. Good for Adams, but Jackson didn't need 74 catches to put up what? 1300+ yards and 9 TDs? What a major difference..

I'm sure Adams will have a great year. Guy has been a good receiver for years now, but never as good as some people make it out.

I actually think Adams is super underrated when you think about the great wide receivers in this league. he’s usually about the fourth or fifth wide receiver even if that when people bring him up. He’s missed two games (really 2.5) and he has 74 receptions, 908 yards and 11 touchdowns. For perspective that’s 5th in receptions, 10th in yards and 2nd in tds. And frankly if he didn’t miss time theres a strong chance he is first in receptions, first in touchdowns and probably close to first in receiving yards. I understand he has Aaron Rodgers but that’s pretty ridiculous when you think about it if he didn’t miss those two games theres the possibility he could be leading the league in every statistical category for a wide receiver. He’s 11 catches away from leading the league in receptions. He’s only 120 yards away from leaving the league in yards. And two touchdowns away from leading the league in touchdown receptions while playing just 9 games compared to everyone else with 11.

Reagor actually had a play down the sideline I want to say on the second drive where his route was so bad he kept drifting to the sideline which helped Griffin in covering him.

Reminder. We drafted Jordan Matthews over Davante Adams.

Don’t forget we also took mychael kendricks and Vinny curry over Russell Wilson even though we loved Wilson and thought he was going to be special.

fun fact.... the pick right after Wilson was Brandon Brooks via a pick Houston got from the eagles.

Being reminded how bad we draft by seeing who we could have had so often sometimes makes you wanna slit your wrists.

Sarcasm for those who didn’t figure that out.

Every single team, in every sport, can play the "we should have drafted XYZ instead" game.

Is Cox going to the Hall?

Good question.  If he plays at a high level for at least 3-4 more years he has a chance, imo.

The only thing that could hurt him is that he's never had the "stellar" sack numbers and stats.  He does so much on the field that doesn't show on paper...especially getting double teamed and freeing up the other linemen, etc.  Really depends on how much the voting committee looks at that stuff.

Yeah.  I love the "look at the mocks!" comment before.... we are TATE in here now and not even ashamed of it anymore.

We held him to 150 yards on about 10 catches last year in 2.5 Quarters .... not impressed 🙄🙄

I think he got Sydney Jones cut.

Yes, but we can’t even play the "well, at least we did draft xyz” game.

I love Fletch, but there’s an incredibly minimal chance he gets into the hall.

We have acquired good players, but that's not the narrative.

I still want to fire Howie Roseman though.

This...

This is F***** EMBARRASSING!.

Within 20 seconds they went from trading back and getting a corner to laughing at the Eagles and getting a chubb to get Justin Jefferson.

At one point the GM goes.... "Hey Pat.. " and it interrupted and goes "I'm on it"  meaning JJ is such a no brainer you dont need to tell me what to do

Vikings draft room elated after Eagles selected Jalen Reagor (radio.com)

Meh.  I think that had more to do with Jefferson being 'their guy" than it had to do with the Eagles taking Reagor.  Similar situations likely happened in the majority of "war rooms" during draft day.

Pretty sure it was Maddox on him most of the game, giving him 15-yard cushions.  I could be wrong — the bad CB play last year was universal to whoever the Eagles put out there

While we're all screaming for Howie to be shown the door, keep in mind the regression of not just Carson, but EVERY player on this team. Stronger players coming out of college are a little more resilient to it, but it's there.

Doug inherited not only most of the squad the went to the SB in 2017, but a lot of lingering team management ideas leftover from the Kelly regime; which he's since eradicated. It's all Pederson's 'genius' now running the team(into the ground). Apart from some unknown diamonds in the rough we got really lucky with, players who come here begin to lose NFL value the minute they put on an Eagles uniform. This has to stop.

The Vikings’ reaction was mild surprise.  Nothing that doesn’t happen in most drafts.  People are being disingenuous trying to make it out to be the Bears giving the 49ers extra draft picks to move up from #3 to #2 to draft Trubisky level of bad.

So  whos playing Oline this weekend?

Mailata, Seumalo, Kecle, ? JP or Herbig, and Pryor or Driscoll?

I actually think we would have a shot with  Mailata, Seumalo, Kelce, Herbig and ???     we should be able to run the ball,

Wait what am I saying Doug only called 9 runs last game, he still thinks he is playing the SB against the Pats.

Nevermind

I doubt it.

They were talking like JJ was a lock for the Eagles, cause he was the best player on the board so they should start prepping to trade back for a corner.

There were also strong rumors that the Eagles were going to pick Jefferson.  I believe even the announcers alluded to the Eagles likely taking a receiver and Jefferson was among the group they assumed (including Reagor).

So when the Eagles took "the other receiver" and "their guy" was available, they were elated.  Pretty normal, imo.
