We have acquired good players, but that's not the narrative.

I still want to fire Howie Roseman though.

We have acquired some good players, but mostly we have missed, and more importantly they have acquired only the 1 Pro Bowler, who was only a Pro Bowler, 1 year.  And they paid a TON of draft capital to get that done.

Who are the 'good' players?  Goedert, Sanders, Seumalo, Vaitai, Barnett, Sweat and Mills?

In terms of drafted players... there's not many that would qualify as 'good'.  So, we are talking about rotational players, players who struggle to stay healthy and nice depth pieces.  Nothing to write home about.

I mean, he played in 12 games. I know he missed time, but he didn't exactly miss 12 games.

I get what you are saying. Turf toe is the worst injury for a receiver though. Most of the time it ruins that players season. Probably one of the worst you could get.

Fair.

2018

6th in receptions

110th in catch percentage

7th in yards

55th in yards/reception

2nd in TDs

2017

19th in receptions

114th in catch percentage

23rd in yards

60th in yards/reception

2nd in TDs

Yep, still not seeing top 5 no questions asked. Hell of a player, lots of talent, if he stays healthy he will have a good season.

No one has denied that.

Are these shooters going to help him not take games off in the playoffs?  They’d have beaten the Raptors if Embiid was dressed for every game.

Embiid, because of his size/play style, etc will likely never play 82 games in a regular season...the days of the "big iron men" of the NBA have long passed.  So the strategy with him is "load management" during the regular season so that he will be 100% come playoff time.  (Ideally it will also prolong his career).

They brought in Horford last year so he could fill in when Embiid would either get "low minutes", a game off or if he were to get injured....and the idea was Horford would come in and they would continue to win.  That obviously did not happen last year.  Horford couldn't replace Embiid's performance...and the team struggled when Embiid wasn't on the court.

That's why bringing in Howard (at 1/10th of the cost of Horford) could end up being one of the best off-season moves of the year.  Howard's skill set is MUCH CLOSER to Embiid's than Horford's was.  Howard is no longer the player he was 2-3 years ago but that shouldn't matter with the "limited" role he will likely have.  Howard should be fresh every time he steps on the court and a fresh Dwight Howard should be enough to (at least) keep them going while Embiid is not playing.

Then add the fact that there's a new coach/scheme....plus the added shooters, etc....this could be the best 76ers team we have seen in a long time.  Time will tell but I'm optimistic.

Well it's not so...

It’s been 3 straight years now headed in the wrong direction.  This is a unique case where the franchise QB has a mega deal kicking in next season, and the QB-head coach partnership isn’t working.  Letting this offense go on for another season will cause irreparable harm.

2018 and 2019 Wentz was just having to work with the crap he's been given

This year he's playing bad but all around him is falling apart

New coach that wants to improve him and not take him out for some stupid gadget play will be great

I think the relationship between Doug and the FO is strained. He wants to do play calling but I don't see that happening next season here. There was also the issue of his position coaches that were fired and him bringing in this stupid committee of OCs that failed

The problem is what's the best way to fix the franchise.  What's clear is that Howie has to go.  After that, Doug needs to revamp his OC staff and get a QB coach that pushes Wentz.  Even with those changes, my guess is that we will likely get a new HC in 2022 and Wentz may be gone after next season as well.

I know you're an adamant Wentz guy. No reason to go down that rabbit hole with you at this point.

I think you bring in clear eyes at HC and GM. There are several complicated decisions to be made next year -- the QB situation, Dillard vs Mailata, which expensive veterans to keep or move, what to do with Derek Barnett. The current power structure consistently makes the wrong decisions in these situations.

Agreed. My point is there are too many players or coaches failing here and going somewhere else and doing better. That means the environment right now sucks. There are coaching issues, draft issues, player personnel issues and contract issues. So blow it all up, clean house, rip it all down to the slab and rebuild it back up and start new and fresh. I don't want to just get rid of Doug just to bring in a new HC whose going to have to deal with the same problems.

Here is to a great game with no injuries Sunday Philly fans.

Here’s hoping Aaron Rodgers gets hit by a bus before 4pm Sunday

It ought to be "load management” at the dinner table.

Only ones I know of that are doing better are Frank and Agholor. I think there's a CB or 2 that went to Saints and is doing ok but can't remember the names

It doesn't really bother me. I hope Frank does well with the Colts. Agholor's game is bipolar. He could end up trash next year for Raiders 🤷‍♂️

Groh is back to where he belongs as a WR coach, so he's better. Douglas and Sidney Jones are both playing better. LJ Fort, Hicks, Tate, Darby, Chandon Sullivan, Agholor all better after leaving. Only player who objectively is worse is Foles. It doesn't bother me they found success in their career, it bothers me that we all had them and couldn't maximize their talent.

Agreed that's a huge issue. And that's why this team right now is in such a hole. They haven't done a good job of bringing in good young talent, when they have they haven't developed them well. From top to bottom this has just become a mess.

Didn't know Groh was back to a WR coach. Just looked it up and he's Franks WR coach

DeFilippo is also back to QB coach with the Bears

Douglas was the one I couldn't remember. I've been hearing that Jones isn't playing well though

Hicks is gone because he couldn't stay healthy here so should that even count?

I hope he's right. But so far Reagor just hasn't looked dynamic really and he isn't being used properly either.

I like Reagor. I was a fan of the pick and it is way too early to write him off yet. But there's something that seems off. Maybe the injury is lingering? Maybe he put on some size whilst he was out and now he's a little sluggish?

Week one against Washington he caught that 55 yard bomb and looked plenty fast.

He doesn't look fast. He also doesn't look like a 1st round pick. He looks like a project

I think many knew that though? That he was a raw talent. That he has the skills and the tools but he needs work. The troubling part is that he doesn't look fast or agile and that's more of a concern.

Statistically he's worse this year than he was last year for sure. In some ways he has played similarly (interceptions and PD) but he's given up more yards, more completions and a higher QB rating when thrown at than last year. Maybe there's some context that the film would provide that you can't see in stats but at least from that perspective he is definitely worse.

Also he has continued to have injury issues. He missed the last two games with an Achilles injury and left another game early due to an injury. So that problem has continued for him outside Philly.

Unfortunately, Reagor will continue to look disappointing as long as he is in the contrasting shadow of Justin Jefferson. Outside of opening day, Reagor has looked rather pedestrian while Jefferson emerges as a star.

I don't watch college ball so when they drafted him and the network guys were saying it was a steal because pre-injury he was the best CB in the draft...I was excited!

Don't know if we ruined him or if the injury ruined him but man that was a disappointment. I thought we finally got a shutdown CB

Same. Looking back I wonder how he would have played and if he would still be a bust if he hadn't had the Achilles tear at his pro day and ended up being a top-15 pick like he was projected to be. I really thought we got a steal in that draft but nope, he sucked.

"He lines up well for us"

Howie really took a project from TCU w/ 5 touchdowns in the 1st round over a kid who had like 20 TDs, played in the toughest division in college and won a national championship.

Let that sink in.
