Ah, we are back the lining up well on every play bs.  Truly amazing.

Weve managed to find all the WRs in the NFL over the years who do so many things so well that don’t show up in the stat sheet.

We may have the guys with the worst separation, hands, and receiving production in the league, but damn it they sure can line up and block.

Same. Looking back I wonder how he would have played and if he would still be a bust if he hadn't had the Achilles tear at his pro day and ended up being a top-15 pick like he was projected to be. I really thought we got a steal in that draft but nope, he sucked.

The Scheme sucks.

Go look up the numbers. Adams has cracked 1000 yards in once in his career with Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, he's who Id start my franchise with.

Calling him top 5 based on this year's production is the very definition of a "hot take".

Well this is gonna false statement in about a week. In 2018 he had 1386 yards. He was 6th in receptions, 7th in yards and 2nd in td receptions. Last year he had 83 receptions, 997 yards and 5 tds while missing 4 games. If he plays those 4 games he’s on pace to finish in the top 10 in all those categories. Would be three consecutive years he would have done so.

I feel like blocking became more of a priority than actually being a WR on this team over the years

I hate this so much.  I swear the Eagles are the only team to say crap like this.

I know you're an adamant Wentz guy. No reason to go down that rabbit hole with you at this point.

I think you bring in clear eyes at HC and GM. There are several complicated decisions to be made next year -- the QB situation, Dillard vs Mailata, which expensive veterans to keep or move, what to do with Derek Barnett. The current power structure consistently makes the wrong decisions in these situations.

I want Wentz to succeed but he needs to improve.  I am not sure benching him for Hurts in the next season would be in the best interest of the team.  I don't think, however, benching him with how bad the team is otherwise playing is going to make much of a difference.  Also, there's no way to really get him off the team.  He has played well over the last 2 seasons although he has not been where he was before the injury.  If he can improve his play and return to where he was even last season, I think the team can succeed.  He's a problem but I don't think he's the biggest problem.  I think the biggest problem is Howie.

I think the relationship between Doug and the FO is strained. He wants to do play calling but I don't see that happening next season here. There was also the issue of his position coaches that were fired and him bringing in this stupid committee of OCs that failed

I’ve been saying this since early in the season i felt that one of doug, howie or wentz wouldn’t be here by the end of 2021. Ive also thought it was most likely going to be doug and it might not even be because he got fired and just says enough is enough and walks away. Frankly i think that option looks more and more likely as the season continues. The fact there was a report week one he was at the end of his rope and then two weeks ago he wouldn’t mind being fired and now all this other stuff on top of this going on. You know if he’s here next year it’s highly likely lurie/Fo asks him to give up play calling and like you said he doesn’t want to do that. Might be the thing he loves most about being a HC. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he walks away or they call it a mutual parting of the ways

The best-est part of looking back at that 2017 draft sequence of events was MIN trading up in front of the Saints (42) and Eagles (43) to draft Dalvin Cook at #41.  What did the Saints do?  Went ahead and drafted S Marcus Williams and used their #67 pick to select Alvin Kamara.  Because of the Tim Jernigan trade the Eagles had no pick between #43 and #99.  The Eagles had a desperate need at CB and had to force the pick because they selected a DE in the first round — and they were forced into betting Sydney Jones was a steal at #43, and hedged on their bet by double-dipping at CB with Rasul Douglas at #99 in case they were wrong.

‘Historic RB class’ and the Eagles came out of it empty handed on Day 1 and 2.  When asked about it, Howie said there were still "good 3-down RBs available”, then proceeded to trade-up to draft 169-lb Donnel Pumphrey — a zero-down RB with a 6th round draft grade

The Eagles got fed their lunch, threw it up, and got it fed to them again.  Now we have Derek Barnett and Nate Gerry remaining out of the eight draft picks.  What a cluster-F

Didn't know Groh was back to a WR coach. Just looked it up and he's Franks WR coach

DeFilippo is also back to QB coach with the Bears

Douglas was the one I couldn't remember. I've been hearing that Jones isn't playing well though

Hicks is gone because he couldn't stay healthy here so should that even count?

DeFilippo would be one to consider bringing back as a QB coach.

In jjaw’s defense he sucks so that kind has stunted his growth

Howie really took a project from TCU in the first over a kid who had like 20 TDs, played in the toughest division in college and won a national championship.

Let that sink in.

Howie's Achilles heal is that he needs to be smarter than others and therefore makes alternative choices for his ego, IMO. With the Bird's highest draft choices he seems to need to prove that he has more insight than others. His appreciation for hockey toughness and how that translates to the NFL for example. I always thought this is why Douglas was a good compliment to him. A "look at the tape and results" guy. Turns out that Douglas isn't very good at evaluating prospects either.

And Nate Gerry will certainly be gone next year. He might end up wherever Schwartz goes, meaning only 1 of the 8 players we selected in that draft will be with the team.

If the Eagles had drafted Kamara, they wouldn't have traded for Ajayi.  Maybe they don't feel the need to trade out of the first round in 2018.  Could have had Will Hernandez or Courtland Sutton.

Same. So over it. I have never worked at a place that continually lives in denial. 3 years of these kind of comments. I don't understand how they can be fine with this kind of thing.

New coach that wants to improve him and not take him out for some stupid gadget play will be great

Do you honestly believe that's what is going on with Wentz?  You truly believe it's because the coach took him out for ONE play?

You gotta be kidding me.

It's true that they don't go to him much at all. That's on Wentz not throwing to him and Doug for not making plays to him. You'd think Doug would want to involve his supposed speedster in the game plan more but he wants to give snaps to Alshon 🤷‍♂️

People are going to say it's coach-speak, but it's pretty clear that while Reagor has some issues (strength at the catch point and turning his head too early on go-routes), he's been winning enough this year.

Nah you have to read between the lines. Basically, this the recommendation letter you get when you are forced to say something positive about someone.

Just saw the report on NFL network that Doug is sharing the play-calling to his assistant coaches.  Not sure how it is going to work or how well.  Either he is asked to do that, or he needs someone else to share the blame if things don't improve.  It does not smell good to me.

Hope fading fast...this team just has stink all over it. Over/under of how many times Romo will show us all the open WRs/TEs Wentz is missing?

Unfortunately, Reagor will continue to look disappointing as long as he is in the contrasting shadow of Justin Jefferson. Outside of opening day, Reagor has looked rather pedestrian while Jefferson emerges as a star.

Here’s the thing.  After Douglas, folks said they were tired of safe picks.  They didn’t want Barnetts, they wanted to hit home runs.  The comment I_P and I heard at draft season was Jefferson was a high floor guy but a low ceiling guy.  Folks were willing to sacrifice floor for the potential for a higher ceiling.   Now, into a season loaded with injuries, the same folks are unhappy with low floors.  The first three picks in the draft are lower floor with potential for higher ceiling.  Reagor, as Moorehead said, was stunted by injuries.   His ceiling hasn’t changed.  Taylor isn’t ready to beat out Riley. But if Taylor makes that step, the ceiling is extremely high.  James Harrison started slow.  Most WRs start slow the first year.  We are supposed to be in the transition period from Alshon and DJax.   Ward is a holding pattern at slot as we transition from Agholor.

The Hurts pick makes sense with that high ceiling/low floor approach. Despite what they say in the press, the Eagles have never been sold on Sudfeld as the number two.  Every year in the last decade and frankly almost every year in this century, the Eagles needed two QBs that could start.   Hurts is accurate. He also runs well.  His downside is he is a one look QB.   Lincoln Riley addresses that with Leach’s layering patterns. I was hoping after Harrell came in for an OC visit that the Eagles were going to modernize some of the WCO patterns, but I digress.  Hurts is a high ceiling guy. Given Carson plays hero ball and doesn’t have a track record of staying healthy, Hurts is

I would argue they deviated a bit in the fourth with Wallace and Driscoll. Both seem more higher floor.  Wallace is a little of a tweener.  Nickel/SS in a free safety body.   Driscoll has a bit shorter arms for T than we would like and not as weighted of a base but a solid prospect.

Then in the fifth the were back to the low floor/high ceiling with a fast body catcher with good feint and change of speed qualities in Hightower.  Work on ball tracking and hand catching and we could have a high ceiling.  He is raw, having only two years at Boise. Should be seeing plays in the slot.

in the sixth, Bradley, a solid linebacker with questionable instincts.  His ceiling may be solid back up and ST ace.  Low is solid STs and out of the league.

Watkins, body catcher with minimum route tree, no real moves to get open but speed but his out routes are a weapon.   Ceiling is he learns feints, change of speed and head fakes from a couple players who are pretty good at it in DJax and Reagor and from Hightower, who has some of that in his game.  Injury probably hampered his growth a bit. Ceiling is he learns routes and kills with speed.  Low floor/high ceiling.

Tega Wanogho (Prince is his title, not his name as I understand it) may be the injury roll of the dice.  Solid LT but needs work.  I see him as a swing T at this level.  A year of exposure to Stout, Peters and Lane cannot hurt. High ceiling my be Big V but that would be awesome.

Toohill was the anti Miller.  Awful in college against the run.  High ceiling was a a back up DE.

So the complaint was that the Eagles were drafting production players from college with high floors and not going for high ceiling guys.  This year, Howie did the opposite.  His reward is a half a year later, the antiJefferson antiBarnett folks in here are crying for Jefferson and Howie to be fired (except our resident speed lover, who is true to dislike for Jefferson and I don’t recall him ever being a fan of the accountant).

In fairness, a lot of high ceiling guys never achieve that but the ones that do, frequently take a little time getting there.
