Completely agree. But can we please get it right this time. It feels like he has coaches completely rework his mechanics every offseason, find what works and build off it.

At some point, that’s on the QB.

PSchedule is much tougher this time and honestly I want them to lose out, well maybe beat Dallas again.  They need the higher draft picks to add some youth.  Even if Howie is still GM, it'll be harder to miss in the draft if you're picking top 5.

never underestimate howies ability to still miss badly even when selecting top 5.

He's only done it once to my knowledge with Wentz.

Believe me......I'll be incredibly nervous when it comes time to pick in the top 5.  While I do think he could screw it up at least it's not as likely if its top 5.

I posted this in the Fulgham thread in response to ManchesterEagle saying "it looks like he hit a wall" but wanted to share it here.

I was saying this, and it might still be true BUT - when I said Fulgham just doesn't have the athleticism to be a top WR someone pointed out to me he has virtually the same measurables as DeAndre Hopkins ... and it's Scary True

Hopkins - 6' 1" 214 lbs ; Arm 33 3/8 hand 10" ; 40 - 4.57; 10yd split 1.62; 20yd split 2.69; 20yd shuttle 4.5; 3 cone 6.83; VJ 36" ; BJ 9' 7"; BP 15 reps

Fulgham - 6'2" 215 lbs; Arm 33 3/4 Hand 9.5: 40 4.58; 10yd split 1.60; 20yd split 2.70; 20yd shuttle 4.22 (Pro Day) 3 cone 6.84 (Pro Day); VJ 36.5"; BJ 10' 6" ; BP 15 reps

The only thing keeping Fulgham from achieving star status is between his ears.

The only wall Fulgham hit is Doug’s love for Alshon. He’s been limited by lack of reps more than anything. Also play design. Why are we consistently every week throwing back shoulder, contested throws to Reagor when that is not his strength at all. That is Fulgham excels at.

Didn't Doug say in his PC that it's a collaborative group that designs the plays but ultimately Doug calls the plays during the game?

Now this comes out. So what info is correct?

When the majority of the questions regarding the offense are based around play calling (maybe not this past week but in weeks prior) then that's Pederson "taking accountability" for the play calling, imo.  As the season moved forward, Pederson likely relinquished some of his play calling duties to other coaches because he's trying to make the team better.  That's what a good head coach does and he should be commended for it, imo.

That was in reference to the myriad of posters in this blog that were saying in order for the team to improve, Pederson should relinquish his play calling duties.  It's been an ongoing topic for weeks in here.

Did you forget Ward last season already?

The only thing hyped about Ward was his functional competence.  Nobody ever said he was anything more than a guy that gets open and can catch the ball.

What I see is more indecisiveness. You can’t let someone else call every 2nd or 3rd play. There’s no cohesion there’s no rhythm. It’s the same thing with these random Hurts plays once in a while. There’s no rhythm to it. This is not Madden where you can just pull out random plays and expect it to work.

If he truly thought giving up playcalling is to the benefit of the team(which I think it is) then he should give it up entirely. Not this every other play/drive nonsense.

This team can only move forward once we figure out what is going on with Wentz.  This entire offensive system is built around QB play.  So if Wentz gets better, naturally, the entire offense will get better with him.

You just summarized perfectly why the coaching staff needs to be fired.  The entire offensive system is garbage, and regardless of who is calling the plays, garbage is still garbage.

Wentz throws 31 passes or less — 18-2

Wentz throws 32 passes or more — 17-29-1

Last Eagles player open enough to make a big play by run after the catch further than the pass travelled — Darren Sproles 2016.  No, people are NOT wide open all over the field

Eagles NFL rank for yards-after-catch — 32nd; dead last.  Guys are NOT wide open all over the field.

The offense is garbage, the head coach refuses to run the football, has no clue about the status of injured players, constantly puts guys in uniform who don’t merit playing time at the expense of guys who do.

If Doug stays head coach next season the Eagles cannot and will not win more than 5 games in 2021.  At least it will be another top 10 draft pick

Did you miss the part where the report states, "#Eagles assistant Press Taylor called offensive plays for the the entire second half"?

He came to play during the Super Bowl!

14 Carries for 90 yards and a TD while barreling through people!

That's a meaningless stat b/c if you're ahead, you don't throw as much, if you're behind in the 2nd half, you pretty much have to throw.

This tells you more that the Eagles have been close or behind most of the time in Wentz's tenure.

Pat Kirwan was beside himself at the stupidity of the Eagles coaching on NFL Radio yesterday.

The Eagles average yards-per-carry in the first quarter this season is 5.6, yet they’ve passed more than they’ve run.  In the second quarter it’s more of the same.  I posted in here last week the Eagles have passed the football 425 times this season, while the running backs have 209 carries.

Kirwan said it very well — ‘you have an OL that can’t pass block; they’ve given up 46 sacks which is the worst in the NFL, the QB is struggling mightily — run the football!  What did SEA do when Russ started throwing picks?  They ran the football; no more of this 50-throw nonsense’

Doug is just flat-out incompetent at this point and he’s damaging the franchise’s largest investment in Wentz.  It would be organizational malpractice to keep Doug, and the Eagles would suffer for that mistake for at least 5-6 years.

No, it says the Eagles need to be a run-balanced offense like they were in 2017.  The more they deviate from that formula, the worse the results become

Whoever coaches this team next season, whether its Doug or someone else, they have to commit to running the ball more.

You have Sanders already.  If it were up to me I'm drafting fairly early, 2nd or 3rd round, another top RB to pair with Sanders.  Not only someone to pair with him now but also that could replace him when he's wanting a new deal.

This team is not very good at passing right now.  Yet Doug and co. continue to think this team is the 99 Rams Greatest show on Turf.  Until you can improve the O-line and WRs, they need to take a page out of Clevelands playbook and run more while limiting the QB throws.  Running the ball was such a big reason why they won in 2017.  Not sure why they cant see this.

First half:

5 3 and outs, 1 touchdown and 74 total yards

second half:

0 3 and outs, 10 points and 204 total yards

so someone who has called plays for 4.5 years and someone who’s called plays for half a football game ....

** and if doug didn’t decide to go for it then have had 13 points.

***in the first half, first 5 series of the game -1 yards then scangarello calls 2 min offense and has 75 yards.

I don't necessary disagree that they "should" run the ball more.  But that goes hand-in-hand with momentum.  In this offense, the pass sets up the run, not the other way around.

Then, like others have said, the reason the team does better when they "seem to run more" has more to do with the fact that they "run more" when they are ahead and they "pass more" when they are behind.

Most of the time if they trail it's not by much though.

They get down 7 or 10 in the 1st half then they feel they have to pass, pass, pass.  No......at that point it's still early.  If you're down 7, 10, 14 in the 4th qtr then OK pass all you want.  Being down 10 points in the 1st half feels like being down 50 to this coaching staff.  There is still time left and more than enough to continue to run the ball.

Don’t forget the td and most of the yards in the first half came in the last 2 minutes where apparently Rich calls the plays.

Well, besides the fact that this team (historically) has been a 2nd half team for the majority of the past 5 years, when you come out with 74 yards of offense in the 1st half, what do you do during halftime?  You make adjustments, right?

That said, if the team thinks that Press Taylor calling plays made that much of a difference, then they should have him call plays during the first half of the Packers game.  If that seems to work, then stick with it.

Its why I say they should draft another RB 2nd or 3rd round to pair with Sanders and commit to running the ball.  It's a formula that works yet coaches are enamored with passing the ball all the time.
