I have an opinion after hearing the inactives for today, with Barnett, Hargreaves, Johnson, sanders all playing today...,those Mfers coaching and in the front office all thought they could beat Washington without them and thought, let’s just give em an extra week to heal up and we will be fine against the Washington football team without them.  Their arrogance cost the eagles that game!

They literally could miss the playoffs because Lane had his surgery in August instead of July.

The politicization of sports pisses me off to no end and I wish it would hurt them in the wallet, but I don't think it is.

The NFL's biggest problem remains concussions and CTE.  A generation from now when football drops out of the top 10 most popular youth sports because of this, that lack of participation may potentially trickle up to spectators at the professional level.

That's a long-term problem though.

Yup. This is easily the biggest issue.

Queue up the people who believe both he and Wentz will get injured on the same play    lol

I'd like to see the package of plays Pederson has in mind for Hurts.  Of course, I'd much rather see a coherent game plan in general, as opposed to last week .....

In the grand scheme of things there will only be serious ramifications if there is a meaningful alternative.  Sports will always have a huge following in society; the NBA is in decline currently because the players run the league, players try to flock together to make a super-team, and their terrible commissioner has given away too much power to do anything to stop it.  MLB is declining because the game is too slow and their terrible commissioner not only refuses to make meaningful rule changes, but allowed a team to cheat to an even higher degree than the Patriots and it hurt the integrity of the sport -- which has never fully recovered from them allowing the players to openly cheat using steroids.

Young people not playing or not being allowed to play by their parents because of the safety risk will be the only long term hindrance to football.  Neither the AAF nor XFL were able to get off the ground; the NFL is still the best entertainment value in sports for the masses -- not to mention the gambling income stream.

Agree with all of this. One thing I'd add is that the NFL's embrace of gambling might give the League the same type of boost that Fantasy Football did.

While we are on the subject of both overrated and Darren Sproles, allow me to cast a vote for Sproles as one of the most overrated Eagles of all time.

I think it was 2015 where he won two games for the Eagles. My issue, that is well noted, is Doug/Howie wanting the next Sproles, not the next Blount.

I wanna see Casey Toohill today. Schwartz isn't committed to Avery, and you just can't put Avery out there with no plan and expect him to win. Gotta cut your losses.

With all those guys coming back, Toohill might be in street clothes.

Alshon the only real injury.

While the surgery is related to the high ankle sprain last year, Lane said he injured it again in practice in August which led to him to getting surgery to help stabilize his ankle. So it’s not necessarily true he could have had surgery in July

Yup. There's also risk associated with surgery.

Graham and Barnett are active.

Paying Tarik Cohen before Allen Robinson is a Chip Kelly move.

Do you think Robinson would accept Cohen level money?  Price is what caused the halt in negotiations.  So they signed Cohen to a reasonable extension.  While it may be a message to Robinson to be more reasonable Like Cohen.

Kind of like the message to Ertz, which boiled last week.   Howie probably made a reasonable extension offer based on what age Ertz will be and the fact he is signed through 2021.  Ertz is reacting to Kittles and Kelce’s extensions.  First off, Ertz s not nearly as good as those two are as complete TEs.  But more importantly, Howie has every reason to not offer anything more than a club friendly extension that benefits the Eagles. 1) Signed through 2021, 2) will be 32 when extension hits, 3) cap restriction, 4) Eagles have Goedert and to get him on the field have been over emphasizing 12 personnel, 5) Jeffery lesson.  So the move to show light to Ertz is a reasonable extension for Goedert.

As he should’ve been last week. They better have some package for him.

Jalen Hurts in the #2 QB

Nate Sudfeld inactive?

Why even roster Avery at this point?

Well I can see why the Gm pool is running bare round here.

Ok Favre ? I'd take him as my number one. Over Manning. Over Brady. Why? I could coach him. Favre suffered from right attitude, bad coaching. If he'd have never lost Andy/Grudawg line Favre would have multiples.

Emmitt? The reason most of that Offensive line is in the HOF is Emmitt. Not vice versa.

But think what you like, it's a free country.

Forget this "package" stuff.  If Wentz ishes the bed like he did last week, it's time to replace him with Hurts and see what he can do.

Wentz should be on a very short leash.

If Casey Toohill is legit, then missing on Avery doesn't matter. Still, it's clear that Schwartz doesn't like Avery.

If you're a Schwartz guy (Mills, Avery, Barnett), you'll get a ton of rope.

Carson won't be "entrenched" as the starter much longer if he plays like he did last week.  Doug must realize that Wentz is putting his job in jeopardy, so out of sheer self-preservation he'll make a change if is forced to.

It absolutely matters. It was terrible process paying a fourth-round pick in a trade for a player who gives you nothing.

There are a lot better players you can get for a 4. So not only did Howie fail in properly valuing him, he also failed in the fit in this defense.

If Sweat and Toohill work out at least it significantly softens the blow on Miller and Avery. At the very least the message of placing emphasis on athletic ability seems to have sunk in during the 2020 draft.  Hopefully that becomes a trend and not an outlier.

Wow Avery inactive. Great use of a 3rd round pick

As expected, no injuries for the Rams.

If Sweat stays healthy he’s a great 3rd d-end and spot starter. But I don’t see him ever being Trent Cole.

I don’t see it as that at all right now At this point. I think doug and the eagles see the offensive line is what it is. If wentz doesn’t make it out of the game, i think they believe sudfeld would be a sitting duck behind that line whereas hurts can take off and run to survive it. Add on don’t know with lane if he will start and finish and ditto with peters. If we were like 6-7 weeks in and wentz was bad still i think your argument would have more validity then right now.
