DeVonta Smith will be a star on day one in the NFL.

Not sure he’d get on the field with Alshon and DeSean here.

Since 2016 (Howie Roseman back as GM) the Eagles have:

(I'll rate some of the moves on a 1-5 basis, 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.)

- Hired Doug Pederson as head coach, 7-9 his first year, went 13-3 2nd year as head coach and won the Super Bowl 5/5

- Drafted Carson Wentz.  (Roseman put together a series of trades, including trading Bradford for a 1st round pick) - 5/5

- Drafted Vaitai - Crucial in the Super Bowl run and victory, low cost/high reward guy - 4/5

- Signed Brandon Brooks - arguably the best guard in the NFL - 5/5

- Signed Nick Foles to backup Wentz in 2017.  Nick went on to win the first Super Bowl for the City of Philadelphia as Super Bowl MVP - 5/5

- Signed Alshon Jeffery - a key part to the 2017 Super Bowl run, great NFCCG and great Super Bowl performance. 5/5

- Signed LeGarrette Blount to a team friendly deal - huge in 2017 and in the Super Bowl - 5/5

- Traded a 4th round pick for Jay Ajayi - missing piece of the 2017 Super Bowl team, absolutely essential that year 5/5

- Drafted Jalen Mills in the 7th round.  Outstanding value for a serviceable CB who can excel in specific schemes, when used properly 4/5

- Signed Timmy Jernigan - another solid player who contributed during the Super Bowl and when healthy 3/5

- Signed Patrick Robinson to a team friendly deal - crucial piece of the Super Bowl run, among the defensive MVP's in that run - 4/5

- Signed undrafted free agent Cory Clement - Stellar in 2017 and during the Super Bowl.  Exceptional value for an UDFA - 5/5

-  Drafted Isaac Seuamalo in the 3rd round.  Serviceable/Solid starter, value is good for a 3rd round pick. 3.5/5

- Drafted Dallas Goedert in the 2nd round - Traded up to get 1 pick in front of Dallas, to draft a guy Dallas wanted, named Dallas...in Dallas. (That alone is worth its weight in gold) 5/5

- Drafted Derek Barnett - Solid starter, gets better every year, fumble recovery after the strip sack to secure the first Lombardi - 4/5

- Drafted Miles Sanders - arguably the best playmaker on offense, arguably a top 10 NFL RB, potential to get even better. - 5/5

- Drafted Jordan Mailata in the 7th round - project who has now become the future starting Tackle of the team. 5/5

- Drafted Jalen Reagor - has shown promise, despite a few setbacks

- SIgned Travis Fulgham - could end up being one of the best moves if he is who we think he is

- Traded for Darius Slay - Among the top needs, top 5 CB, will cost the team a fraction of his worth for at least 2 years - 4/5

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure I am missing a bunch.

But as you can clearly see, there is no Super Bowl Championship without Howie Roseman.  And if you think that's not an impressive resume, there's probably a dozen NFL teams that disagree with you and would likely hire him within hours (if he were to part ways with the Eagles).

Nice list.   Like I said... you'll have a hard time finding 3 since the Super Bowl.   I highlighted 3.  Goedert, Sanders and Mailata.

You can't seriously be listing Reagor on the 'good' list, can you?  Sure... maybe... But he's not sure thing, and he's not better than the guy that went 1 pick after him.  He could be someday... but not yet.  A little premature by you there.

Fulgham... scouring the waiver wire at WR... to cover up for his bad moves... Desean, Alshon, Agholor, Jordan Matthews, DGB, Greg freaking Ward...

And then there's the Darius Slay move... a band-aid on the gaping wound of horrible CB moves... Sydney Jones, Rasul Douglas, Ronald Darby, Avonte Maddox...

I have acknowledged Howie's past successes.  But, frankly, they really dried up on Feb. 5th, 2018.  After that, you have a hard time finding anything... so you scraped the bottom of the barrel and listed hopes, not successess.

I’m pulling for nick foles gets released after 2021 and we bring the gang back together have wentz looking over his shoulder at hurts and hurts looking over his shoulder at foles.

That’s what I want. All the QB controversies, I want everyone on edge

Add on we should take another QB in round two just to push foles.

Devonta Smith is going to be the ultimate analytic nerds vs tape nerds war

Smith vs Chase for WR1???

Thanks.

After the Chip Kelly era, Howie was given the responsibility of rebuilding a "broken team".  He did that exceptionally well. And it resulted in a Super Bowl title.

Since then, I agree, mistakes were made.  Some of them because the team awarded players for the Super Bowl run/win (past performance)...some for other reasons.

That said, let's be fair.  This team has had a devastating "injury jinx" since 2018.  When half of your starters for 2-3 consecutive years miss significant playing time, that's a hard pill to swallow.  Add the entire 2020 debacle with Covid, no camp, mess of a season...and here we are.

I want to give Howie a "longer leash" because I believe that this past year's draft has potential and I want to see the direction the team is headed in.  This could become an exponentially better team, with a fully healthy roster, next year.

Obviously you don't see it that way and you have valid reasons for feeling that way.  Agree to disagree for now.

Chase

Eagles will still find a way to pass on this kid

Maybe. But Smith is definitely getting a major boost by playing this year, and NFL teams will take that into account. Long ways to go. But it could happen that Smith is first WR drafted

Can’t help but feel they’re going to pass on him/Waddle/Chase for a defensive lineman lol

And he will be Barnett 2.0

You know, I’m actually a fan of Barnett. I know how a lot of Eagles fans feel about him, but I think he’s a decent starter at least. I feel he gets a harder time because of how bad Howie has missed on other draft picks.

Still like Waddle

This offseason I’d trade Hurts to the highest bidder. Let Sudfeld be the backup. Make sure Wentz’s head is clear as possible. If he continues to suck and/or gets hurt we know it’s time to move on

Yea Smith is surely improving his stock. I like Chase measurables more and the fact he’s only 20 vs Smith being 22

Oh boy this is going to open up quite the discussion

OK, so what is your definition of "having all the physical tools"?

Is it having physical tools as good as someone else who has succeeded?  That's your entire argument.

If that's the case, then we need to lower the bar all the way down to 5'9" 180 with no deep speed, considering that those tools will take Wes Welker to the HOF.

I guess Greg Ward has all the physical tools too.

Hey, I think you're on to something.

Chase needs to be an Eagle, but I was just thinking..

If Cincy stays at 3, Sewell makes all the sense in the world. They really need help on the OL and this kid is a superstar.

Having said that, one of the best young WRs in the nation, that has a relationship with your newly drafted franchise QB, will be sitting right there.

They might just do it. Chase and Higgins? damn.

I don't think they go this route, but they just may.

I mean they have Higgins and Boyd. Not sure they’d go WR. They desperately need OL help. I’d be floored if they didn’t take OL

Clayton thorson should still be here as part of the quarterback factory

Weird stuff happens but I feel like the top 3 picks are locks regardless of whose picking

Burrow-Chase with the Bengals would be cool, but I agree that 99% Sewell is the pick.
