One thumb up for the post, one more for the Dillard/Driscoll/Seumalo/Herbig/Mailata OL suggestion.

It wouldn't be a great OL, and it would only make sense if they traded Brooks and Johnson (if there was even a market) and Kelce retired.   Johnson would only be tradable after June 1 to actually lower the hit, and then his final cap hit would be for 2022 season.

But, this would only make sense with a new GM & coaching staff coming in and just cleaning house and starting fresh.  And like I said, it would mean truly hitting rock bottom in 2021.

Awwwww. That's a real bummer. I'm heartbroken.

Can you elaborate on this? I must be missing something his contract.

To clear cap space, you can cut Ertz before the start of the 2021 league year. You can't trade him before the league starts, so if you want to trade Ertz for draft picks we need to clear cap space in other ways before hand. Basically, Ertz has to be on the roster on the 1st day of the league year.

Eagles Captains had a late night meeting with Doug Pederson about being held accountable and how to turn the season around. And a players only Zoom chat meeting took place shortly after. This is a game changer.

I see what you're saying. I forgot you can't trade players until the start of the new league year even after the season ends.

Most overrated player that I can remember in some time.

Amazes me that teams keep paying him.

He's the Same Bradford of defensive players.

If this is true, Wentz should not be our QB moving forward.

You're probably right but sad state of affairs, imo.

If what you are saying is true (We don't know it is, for all we know, Lurie could be fine with trading Wentz) then....

Hypothetically,  if you're so hell-bent as an owner to invest everything in one player and refuse to (at least) acknowledge the fact that it may be time to "move on" from that player, to the detriment of the team, the coaching staff, the entire FO, and to the player himself, then maybe it's time to move on as an owner.

In what Universe does demolishing an entire team (including the coaching staff and GM) make sense because you refuse to admit that the QB you drafted 5 years ago is not the "chosen one"?  How is that remotely fair to the team, the fans and Wentz himself?

Wentz' situation in Philadelphia has become toxic and everyone on the planet can see it...other than the Eagles, apparently.  Does anyone doubt trading him to Indy (with Frank Reich) could be beneficial to him, given the current circumstances, especially if the team decides to "rebuild" in the off-season?

That said, if the team (and Wentz)  somehow have a remarkable turn-around over the next 5 games, I'll gladly eat my words.  I always "hope for the best".

Thats where you should have stopped typing. All that needs to be said.

Yeah, GB did the same thing with drafting Love this year and Rodgers is playing like an MVP.

Rodgers also has less injured weapons and Oline. Also a play caller who isn't an idiot

Packers - 27

Eagles - 19

Zero confidence in this game today, but if it's any consistency to the pattern that we see with Doug's teams and what we've seen the past two seasons, they win this game. For some reason, this team never plays well until they absolutely have to in order to avoid elimination. This isn't an elimination game, but it might as well be.

That's one of my biggest concerns. If all, or even any of the reports are true about either Foles or Hurts being in his head, then this isn't going to end well.

I don’t believe this. It may play a slight role, but I think it’s mostly his lack of focus on the basics which coaching plays a huge role in.

Not really.  It's your opinion that Lurie would refuse to part ways with Wentz.  You could be 100% wrong in your assessment.  And the most recent reports basically said ""Lurie is fine with giving Jalen Hurts a chance if Wentz continues to struggle".

So if he's "fine with giving Hurts a chance" and Hurts performs well, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that Lurie could "sign off" on a trade if he thinks it will benefit the team. (And Wentz himself).

Looks like we guessed, "right"...

Yeah middleton is a crap owner and they’ve basically crapped the bed on a rebuild for years as they only really have bohm and maybe Spencer howard to show for it.

If they redo Wentz' contract, they could get under the cap without cutting Ertz.  But it does double down on Wentz.

Restructuring Wentz, moving his guaranteed salary and roster bonus into a signing bonus drops $18M off his cap number for 2021, but kicks the can further down to road on him.  Cut Desean ($5M)/Alshon ($8M) /Goodwin ($4.3M) - saves $17M.   And extending Barnett would likely drop the cost for him saving about $7M.   That's $42M in savings right there.

So... if that's the way they plan to go, then turn it into a proper rebuild.   Make up for the can being kicked down the road with Wentz, but kicking the can forward from some of these other vets:

Trade if possible, or just cut if not...
Brandon Brooks.  Love the guy, but he's not ever going to be the player he once was again.  Rip the band-aid off.  $12.2M in dead, but no money left beyond 2021.

Zach Ertz.  Same.  Thanks for SB LII.  Likely has some value for return in trade.

Brandon Graham.   This one hurts, but again he has about 1 year left of high value for the team... and might have some value on the market.  No cost beyond 2021, instead of carrying $12M into 2022.   Also gives us more snaps for Barnett, Sweat and the irreplaceable Joe Ostman.

Darius Slay.  Yeah, I would undo that trade.  Might have some value and there's no need to hang on to him while the team bottoms out.  Better for everyone.

Maybe they can get an extra Day 2 pick and another Day 3 pick.

I love when people try to get into the brains of these players.   Unless Carson has actually told someone, then it's just wild speculation.

It's a compliment to be called "delusional" by delusional people.
